Dan Wootton is utterly disgusting. Hung her out to dry and crocodile tears now.

And we wonder why Harry and Megan left the UK.

Shinycat · 15/02/2020 20:15

YEP, Dan Wootton is putrid, and so is that other putrid oik Pukey Morgan. Awful people.

I also think Love Island is living on borrowed time now.... even though Caroline's suicide is not directly related to the show!

Dozer · 15/02/2020 20:17

www.samaritans.org/about-samaritans/research-policy/suicide-facts-and-figures/

Always horrifying to hear of someone dying in this way.

SebandAlice · 15/02/2020 20:18

Yes, Yes, Yes @AngusDuck and @12elve

You keep clicking and they keep writing. Women are ALWAYS their targets. It disturbs me when women on this site double down on the hate.

TheFairyCaravan · 15/02/2020 20:21

This has made me so sad.

I remember Caroline doing, and winning, Strictly. She was brilliant and so full of fun. What a waste of a young life.

Words hurt. People need to be held accountable for what they say and write if this is going to ever stop.

unique1986 · 15/02/2020 20:22

I knew she like to party hard, but I thought she was ok with being single. I didn't think she wanted a partner and to be like other people her age.
I thought she was happy with like short-term relationships. Obviously not at all. Maybe she had other issues may be a relationships were fake.

olivehater · 15/02/2020 20:23

I don’t know much about the case but I do think it bizarre it was going to trial as her boyfriend had not admitted it.
The amount of battered women that get repeatedly injured by their partners and nothing happens because they don’t press charges or withdraw the charges.....
Can’t help but feel there was some sexism at play here and. Would it have gone this far if she had been a man, not been in the public eye?

Bluewater1 · 15/02/2020 20:24

This is tragic. My thoughts go out to her family and friends.

If anyone is struggling at the moment, for any reason at all, please reach out and talk to someone. Samaritans 116 123
I've been in that place and the Samaritans helped me back from it.

unique1986 · 15/02/2020 20:24

I mean serious long-term partner with a view to having children. I didn't think she had a need that as much l.Well Not in the last few years.
She had a big social life she made the money she was happy. She had a property in central London.
The allegation and it made me realise that she hates own company perhaps.

unique1986 · 15/02/2020 20:26

I mean obviously she wasn't happy at all.

AngusDuck · 15/02/2020 20:29

@unique1986 what the hell are you waffling on about?

coconuttelegraph · 15/02/2020 20:32

The amount of battered women that get repeatedly injured by their partners and nothing happens because they don’t press charges or withdraw the charges.....

But that's not how it works is it? The cases don't go to court because the CPS don't proceed with them, afaik there is no concept of the victim pressing or withdrawing charges in English law.

BirdieFriendBadge · 15/02/2020 20:33

@livelovebehappy

Because it's the 3rd suicide of someone who's been on the show.

That on top of the way the contestants are treated and talked about in the media. And the way they conduct themselves in the public eye.

And the impression the show makes on young/vulnerable viewers.

It's unhealthy all round.

unique1986 · 15/02/2020 20:38

The DM always speculated about her love life that's what I'm saying.
But I didn't think it was the be and all just gossip rumours.
Anyway shocking.

PlomBear · 15/02/2020 20:39

The comments about Caroline on the Daily Mail were vile. They are being strictly moderated today.

Dickorydockwhatthe · 15/02/2020 20:43

None of know what really has been going on behind closed doors. Her mental state has obviously been an issue before her assault on her bf became public. Also I'm sure I read that during the arrest she looked like she had cuts to her wrists?? So this may not be her first attempt and she might have been fighting some demons for a long time.

Paddy1234 · 15/02/2020 20:45

It is actually very sad
She was obviously a very very troubled lady.
Her public persona so different from her private life.
She was an alleged domestic abuser and for the police to continue with the case without her boyfriend pressing charges they obviously thought it was serious enough to do so.
However the press have been completely unrelenting as though she was fair game.
❤️ to her family and friends. Her bf must be devastated.

olivehater · 15/02/2020 20:48

So why did cps proceed with this case. I just don’t think if would have happened had it been a man. Certainly would’nt have happens if she hadn’t been famous.

Paddy1234 · 15/02/2020 20:51

A friend of mine didn't press charges
Her ex bf was jailed for 8 years - she was completely floored but there was more evidence than she was aware of.
It's not always a case of going after someone famous.
But it's not worth discussing as the case will not proceed and here say is dangerous and completely disrespectful to the family.

LoveNote · 15/02/2020 20:52

why olive?

they certainly do proceed with cases like this....based on evidence

none of which we are party to

bohemia14 · 15/02/2020 20:52

Picking over the bones of what happened in her personal life is utterly disgraceful on the same day as a woman in the prime of her life took her own life.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Utterly disgraceful.

Mumsnet should be ashamed at allowing this thread to continue. She is someone's daughter.

@olivehater because they felt they had a xx% change of conviction. Police were called (I believe she was heard in the background) , they attended the scene, there is body cam footage, he gave a statement. She would have been interviewed. Out of all of that the CPS believed they had enough to get a conviction. It doesn't often happen that way.

Alsohuman · 15/02/2020 20:56

This x 1000

Paddy1234 · 15/02/2020 20:57

Whether you or anyone else likes it or not - we have a legal system in this country in that you are innocent until proven guilty.
There will not be closure on this - however picking over the bones solves nothing.
We now have to respect the family and friends who will be grieving.
