Having steak for tea. DH is having his steak well done, but I hate mine where it's so done that it becomes tough and chewy! Envy

How do you like yours?

Consistent with having got sunburned whilst on a day trip to the beach.

Sonichu · 14/02/2020 22:05

A decent vet should be able to get it back on it's feet.

Hirsutefirs · 14/02/2020 22:07

Sunny side down.

CherryPavlova · 14/02/2020 22:07

Bien cuit. Tres bien cuit. I don't care if the chef is offended. I don't want my meal to be able to walk of the plate. Nice and brown.

Rememberallball · 14/02/2020 22:17

Take steak out of fridge around 1 hour before wanting to cook it. Heat pan up then hold pan in one hand and steak in the other hand. Wave steak at pan and introduce them to each other politely - steak/pan, pan/steak then serve!!

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2020 22:20

Medium rare

SweetPeaPods · 14/02/2020 22:25

DH and I both like it Medium well- still pink in the middle but no blood.
If it’s good quality meat and cooked well then it’s not chewy or tough.

Pavlova31 · 15/02/2020 12:43

Medium to well done.
The thought of Rare and blood trickling around the plate Confused

Frouby · 15/02/2020 12:53

Medium. I used to have it rare but actually prefer it medium, mainly because I started find the juices(blood really) off putting.

Dh likes his medium too. We're having it tonight, dh does a fab steak. Having steak, salad, mushrooms, onions and proper chips and he does this cheffy bollocks with some jarred peppers that makes him feel like Jamie Oliver. It's the only thing he can cook but at least he does it well.

FET2020 · 15/02/2020 12:55

@BobLobLawLLB animals eat each other all the time. The natural world is tough and everything’s dies. Millions of animals eat each other everyday.

If they had the chance a chicken or pig would eat you without a moments hesitation. my chickens are constantly trying to eat my feet! And they regularly peck mice to death everyday.

Animals aren’t kind fluffy things. Try not to anthropomorphise them.

We aren’t morally superior to any animal, we are animals ourselves.

Eating meat is part of being human. We are all natural omnivores (regardless of made up diets) and thrive on that diet.

Mistymonday · 15/02/2020 12:55

Alive and happy.

FET2020 · 15/02/2020 12:56

I like medium myself 🥳

Hoik · 15/02/2020 13:08

Medium rare, well seasoned, and preferably cooked by someone else so I don't have to do any washing up!

When I was a child and we had steak for tea it was always frying steak and always cooked for far too long until it resembled shoe leather. I didn't know steak was actually nice until DH made it for me one night and cooked it properly, now it's one of my favourites.

theoriginalmadambee · 15/02/2020 13:16

Bleu

Well done destroys the meat imo.

TheDeadLadyOfClownTown · 15/02/2020 13:34

Blue. Steak is about the only food I'm fussy about and send back if it's not perfect. I also like eating raw steak at home when nobody can shout at me about food poisoning.

maddiemookins16mum · 15/02/2020 13:41

If a 1 is raw and a 10 incinerated, I like mine about a 3.

MelanieFrontage · 15/02/2020 14:27

I want a steak after reading this thread!
Rare for me served with a jacket potato with soured cream and chives, delicious.

amusedbush · 15/02/2020 16:23

Medium rare, or medium at a push. I don’t like it bloody but I’d rather err on the side of too rare than well done.

That’s our plan for tonight actually, you can’t beat a good steak dinner.

SleepingIsOverrated · 15/02/2020 16:25

Medium at home, medium well if I'm
Out...

AlanRickmanFanClub · 15/02/2020 16:28

Well done with the slightest hint of pink, definitely no blood. I no longer bother having steak in restaurants as the chefs appear incapable of cooking it that way. I once had a bloody steak delivered to me which I sent back - when it returned it had been cut into strips and fried to within an inch of its life. If I can cook it properly why can't they?

Nifflernancy · 15/02/2020 16:30

This is making me so hungry!!!!!! And I have no steak...sob

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/02/2020 16:35

It depends on the cut because they don't all suit the same way, but my favourite is a ribeye, medium rare, but verging on the rarer dude.
If I have fillet, then blue, but that's my first choice of steak.
I've not tried tomahawk yet, but really want to, I'll go with how the chef, at a restaurant I trust thinks it's best served.

IHaveBrilloHair · 15/02/2020 16:37

Typos ffs.
Side, not dude, and fillet is not my first choice.

VettiyaIruken · 15/02/2020 16:37

Medium rare. My husband likes his like shoe leather. I'm sure he makes the chef cry 😁

lazylinguist · 15/02/2020 16:38

Medium rare to rare. Well done is chewy and horrible imo. Roast beef ditto.
