Tesco have left me with no money and no food.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 15:31

Had an order due for delivery yesterday. £80 worth of food.

By 11.30 I had nothing and my online account said it had been delivered.

I called Tesco and they said the driver had attempted delivery at 10.05am

This isn't true because my front door is in my living room and I have 3 dogs that go ballistic if anyone even opens the gate. If he would have unloaded the crates and brought them to the door before knocking, like he does every week, then I would have heard!

So Tesco says they will try to get him to come back.

They didn't have his number. Then they couldn't get through to him.

So they then said they would try and redeliver by 11pm.

I would hear by 4pm if they could.

No one rang me back.

At half 4 I ring back.

Am told someone will ring me back by 6.30.

7pm. No ones rang.

I ring them back. They say my shopping will arrive by 2pm TODAY.

2.30PM
No shopping.

I ring tesco.

They said the store has no idea about any redelivery and they won't do it.

I have to get a refund processed, which can take upto 7 days to go back on my card.

Then I have to do a full new shop with the normal procedure.

I'm sat here with nothing in the fridge.
I can get a few meals out of what I have but the kids break up today so I've no lunches, snacks over the holidays. Nothing.

I don't have 80 quid to do another shop before the refund comes through.

I've asked them to reconsider and iif they can pick it I can borrow taxi money to click and collect instead.

AIBU to stick to my guns and refuse a refund?

I just want my shopping! :(

One of the reasons I stopped using Tesco online was that the deliveries were so unreliable

Youd think all the bad publicity on here would have kicked them into action

Tolleshunt · 14/02/2020 18:41

This is ridiculous, they know they have your money, they can just send it out again. Solving this from their end is not beyond the wit of man, they just don’t want to go outside of procedure, override ref computer system or put too many man hours on it.

Let’s face it, somebody somewhere at Tesco could make the decision to give you the whole shop for free if they wanted. They’re treating you appallingly, and i’m fuming on your behalf. I was going to try their home delivery, but will be sticking with Sainsbury’s and Waitrose after reading this.

This is awful. I hope someone senior sees this thread

Well I wouldn’t be using Tesco again after this OP! Awful treatment.

Is there another supermarket nearby that you can get deliveries from in future?

wonderstuff · 14/02/2020 18:44

This is awful, of course they should be able to deliver your stuff. I don't see how they don't get that people rely on food delivery. Rubbish.

Pavlova31 · 14/02/2020 18:45

I really hope you get this solved soon OpBrew

Shinycat · 14/02/2020 18:45

@HillsandSea10

If you're going to answer sarcastically , best to be sure of your facts.

Your ONLY contribution to this thread, is to have a dig at the poster @LyingWitchInTheWardrobe. ??? Confused

How interesting. Wink

TheHumansAreDefinitelyDead · 14/02/2020 18:45

Shocking, Tesco are being so crap here!

TypingoftheDead · 14/02/2020 18:48

Well I think I'd probably end up crying on the phone, too - it sounds really frustrating and they're being shit about it, really.
Why are so many delivery drivers like this? i.e. claiming they attempted delivery but never did. It doesn't really happen to us, but I hear about it so often!

bridgetreilly · 14/02/2020 18:50

Oh, OP, this is awful. I'm so sorry.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 18:51

They won't give it me on a card to collect.

They said they may have a solution but am waiting on a confirmation. I've heard that so many times though.

I feel like a right muppet having to explain my situation like some Take A Break sob story to a stranger.

Poor woman sounded mortified at not being able to help.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 14/02/2020 18:52

When this happened to me after ( delivery van broke down, I had nothing in, and pennies in my account), I explained the situation on the phone and they emailed me a voucher for the inconvenience. Think it was £20. They then refunded my order in full, but it did take a couple of days to go into my account.

Brefugee · 14/02/2020 18:53

OP where did you tweet? we can retweet the fuck out of it, that often gets their attention

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 14/02/2020 18:55

Think it was an ecoupon btw.

Do you have any clubcard vouchers to use in the meantime?

DianaT1969 · 14/02/2020 18:55

Check your online banking regularly. Refunds can be much faster - most companies say 7 days to cover themselves.
Sainsbury's did the same to me a couple of weeks ago. I know how frustrating it feels. Can you do a small shop tomorrow of just bread, beans, potatoes, rice, eggs etc to tide you over? A bag load that doesn't require a taxi and costs less than a tenner? Hopefully the money will be back in your account in a couple of days tops.

Wilmalovescake · 14/02/2020 18:55

This is awful. I was going to try Tesco again after a break but I certainly won’t now!

Blurpblorp · 14/02/2020 18:57

This is absolutely appalling... Well done for standing your ground OP. I've cried frustration tears for much less. Shall we set up a hashtag and start tweeting them? #wheresmyfoodtesco?

pelirocco123 · 14/02/2020 18:57

Do you live under a rock not to be able to understand that many people dont have spare money , not because they are reckless but because their income only just covers day to day expenses !

Stuckupsnob · 14/02/2020 18:59

Really hope they sort this, it’s appalling service.

yogo · 14/02/2020 19:02

Tesco should be ashamed, I was planning a big shop there tomorrow but I'm going to go elsewhere in protest.

Elderflower14 · 14/02/2020 19:10

Have Tweeted my disgust linking this thread... So sorry OP... I haven't used Tescos for delivery in ages and certainly won't be or recommending to my friends....

letmebefrank · 14/02/2020 19:10

Shocking treatment. How do they not understand some people really don't have spare cash lying about and they have kids to feed/1?!

squishedgrapes · 14/02/2020 19:10

This has happened to me too OP. I never shop at Tesco now. I've had three different incidents. One a driver showed up and actually refused to give me my shopping, because I asked him to stop throwing it at me. Another time, in store, their till took my money and then instantly voided the payment and I had to do a second shop and wait for a refund. A third time, the delivery driver just didn't show up.
Stick to Sainsbury's now.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 19:11

It's sorted! Wine

They've emailed £80 of tesco vouchers

So I can go online now and do another shop for tomorrow evening and use the vouchers to get my £80 instantly.

Part of me wanted to ask for an extra £10 one for the inconvenience but tbh I'm just glad to have it back and able to order for tomorrow.

Hopefully they turn up tomorrow!

eyemask · 14/02/2020 19:11

It's Tesco who should be mortified and not you! They effectively stole your money.
