Tesco have left me with no money and no food.

Had an order due for delivery yesterday. £80 worth of food.

By 11.30 I had nothing and my online account said it had been delivered.

I called Tesco and they said the driver had attempted delivery at 10.05am

This isn't true because my front door is in my living room and I have 3 dogs that go ballistic if anyone even opens the gate. If he would have unloaded the crates and brought them to the door before knocking, like he does every week, then I would have heard!

So Tesco says they will try to get him to come back.

They didn't have his number. Then they couldn't get through to him.

So they then said they would try and redeliver by 11pm.

I would hear by 4pm if they could.

No one rang me back.

At half 4 I ring back.

Am told someone will ring me back by 6.30.

7pm. No ones rang.

I ring them back. They say my shopping will arrive by 2pm TODAY.

2.30PM
No shopping.

I ring tesco.

They said the store has no idea about any redelivery and they won't do it.

I have to get a refund processed, which can take upto 7 days to go back on my card.

Then I have to do a full new shop with the normal procedure.

I'm sat here with nothing in the fridge.
I can get a few meals out of what I have but the kids break up today so I've no lunches, snacks over the holidays. Nothing.

I don't have 80 quid to do another shop before the refund comes through.

I've asked them to reconsider and iif they can pick it I can borrow taxi money to click and collect instead.

AIBU to stick to my guns and refuse a refund?

I just want my shopping! :(

I've only once had Tesco let me down, they said that drivers hadn't turned up for duty and so there was nothing they could do. I told them they were lying, there were various things they could do but hadn't given it any thought - overtime for the drivers who had turned up; sending the shopping with a store staff member in a taxi; allowing me to go and collect (but they'd need to store it for hours until I could get there). Hey presto, I got my delivery.

Forgetfebuary · 14/02/2020 17:35

Op I hope you can get this sorted many people whom use on line food cannot get to the shops, they are vulnerable.

If they want people to rely on themselves for food they must have back up provisions etc. Its not good enough.

I've had 2 instances with ocado and both time I was given x months free delivery and 20 voucher.

Excellent communication.

This is not good enough at all... I'd be tweeting, fb, emailing etc...

Forgetfebuary · 14/02/2020 17:36

Arghhhhhhh if shops want people to rely on them for food.. That is!!

I hope the delivery turns up soon.

I appreciate the kind messages. Thankyou.

Hi Op,

Might be worth asking for all information regarding yourself and your delivery under GRPR regulations and date protection. Tell you want copies of all calls and van drivers logs.

I've done this before and it's like dealing with completely different people.

X

Complain and complain again. Tesco are great at compensating customers who have had a bad service. I once got a £20 voucher.

I do an online shop with Tesco most weeks. Have had a few problems with them but nothing as you describe (terrible service by them btw) 80 percent of the time they are fantastic here. Tends to have problems during the summer as live in a very busy touristy area.

Anyway, I recently tried Sainsburys. They were 5 hours late as my order was accidentally cancelled by them and they did deliver in the end and there was no apology, no voucher but they did give me a free pack of bananas 😭

3rdchristmaslucky · 14/02/2020 17:45

I had similar with Asda a few weeks ago.
I ordered shopping, went out for the evening, leaving my mother to accept the delivery.
Later I get an email for a refund for half the food. Mum tells me the shopping never arrived.
Call ASDA and they inform me the shopping was delivered... So why was £68 refunded?
Had to get a separate refund for the other half... And reorder. No apologies.
Very weird.

UnaCorda · 14/02/2020 17:57

There is always a Visa sign next to the Mastercard one...

There are Visa credit cards as well as debit cards.

Hope you get it sorted soon, OP. Maybe worth having a few tins of beans (and dog food) or packets of noodles in reserve for future use!

Aneley · 14/02/2020 17:58

A similar thing happened to me with Amazon Fresh... though they were great about it, I'll admit. I was sitting in the room next to the door and I too have 2 dogs that go nuts at any approaching steps so I am 100% positive no delivery was attempted. I called Amazon, they refunded immediately (took a few days to process, true) and sent another full delivery to my house free of charge the next day.

So sorry this is happening, it must be very stressful - I'd keep pressing them until they budge.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 18:01

I do have some basics in to last a few meals but no cereal, fruit, snacks, fresh meats, no veg, no deli meats for lunches.

The kids eat alot during the holidays.

Have made beans and cheese on toast tonight and they're happy enough.

i hope u get ur shopping soon and it is out for delivery x

CottonSock · 14/02/2020 18:13

This happened to me. It turned out my shopping had been basically delivered elsewhere I.e. stolen

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 18:14

They've not called me back.

I'm going to have to ring again :(

Fuzzybumblebee · 14/02/2020 18:18

This is disgusting, I hope it gets sorted for you soon in the meantime if you have Facebook contact them on their as I know this can help sort things at times

Saranvenya · 14/02/2020 18:20

I don’t use Tesco anymore as they did this to me twice! Took over 3 weeks to get my refund (sorry) and many, many calls. They offered me £10 on my account but I told them no to bother and cancelled my bi-weekly shop.
I do hope they get your refund/shopping ASAP but you will have to push and make a fuss!

RandomMess · 14/02/2020 18:30

This is such bad practice in their behalf!!!

Luckystar777 · 14/02/2020 18:31

When you ring again maybe ask to speak to a manager?

It's unlikely they'll charge twice, they've never charged me twice.

Lipz · 14/02/2020 18:32

The driver phones when no answer, as you have no missed calls then it's clear he didn't attempt delivery. When a driver goes back to store to collect next lot of deliveries, yours will still be on the van, he needs to take yours out to fit the next lot in. So your shopping has to be in store, he can't still be driving round with it. Ask them where he put the delivery ? Keep phoning. You are within your right to get the food you paid for.

mencken · 14/02/2020 18:33

obviously you should either get what you paid for or have the money back immediately.

just wondering if it isn't the usual driver and he isn't very keen on dogs that 'go ballistic' at any approach? I've got a near neighbour with these. nightmare.

HillsandSea10 · 14/02/2020 18:34

JinglingHellsBells, well, now you know better, don't you? There is always a Visa sign next to the Mastercard one... but perhaps your butler does it all for you

If you're going to answer sarcastically , best to be sure of your facts.

MotherofTerriers · 14/02/2020 18:34

Reply on twitter and say still waiting to hear from them just like the other times they promised to ring you back

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 18:35

They're saying nothing can be done.

It has to be refunded.

It's all been put back on the shelf.

They picked it again today but it didn't go out.

There's nothing that can be done and if they do sent it out to me it has to go through a till so I will be charged £80 again but I can get the original refunded.

But I don't have 80 quid in the bank. I'm trying to explain that.

They're making me feel like a fucking dick. Begging for my shopping like Oliver Twist.

I've asked for it to be put on a gift card for me to pick up tomorrow and she said they've never don't that before. Am on hold whilst she asks.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 18:37

I'm actually going to cry on the phone. I feel like such an idiot.

OP posts:
Anotheruser02 · 14/02/2020 18:39

Wow they are shit. Why on earth would it need to go through a till when it is clearly what you already paid for.
