Tesco have left me with no money and no food.

Had an order due for delivery yesterday. £80 worth of food.

By 11.30 I had nothing and my online account said it had been delivered.

I called Tesco and they said the driver had attempted delivery at 10.05am

This isn't true because my front door is in my living room and I have 3 dogs that go ballistic if anyone even opens the gate. If he would have unloaded the crates and brought them to the door before knocking, like he does every week, then I would have heard!

So Tesco says they will try to get him to come back.

They didn't have his number. Then they couldn't get through to him.

So they then said they would try and redeliver by 11pm.

I would hear by 4pm if they could.

No one rang me back.

At half 4 I ring back.

Am told someone will ring me back by 6.30.

7pm. No ones rang.

I ring them back. They say my shopping will arrive by 2pm TODAY.

2.30PM
No shopping.

I ring tesco.

They said the store has no idea about any redelivery and they won't do it.

I have to get a refund processed, which can take upto 7 days to go back on my card.

Then I have to do a full new shop with the normal procedure.

I'm sat here with nothing in the fridge.
I can get a few meals out of what I have but the kids break up today so I've no lunches, snacks over the holidays. Nothing.

I don't have 80 quid to do another shop before the refund comes through.

I've asked them to reconsider and iif they can pick it I can borrow taxi money to click and collect instead.

AIBU to stick to my guns and refuse a refund?

I just want my shopping! :(

The delivery drivers are required to phone the customer if they don't get an answer when they knock. Did you have a missed call from them? I cannot imagine that they would pretend to deliver it as they have no way of knowing I felt you've got CCtV which would record the time they say it was delivered.
I do know they take the money once the goods have left the store. My dsis once forgot she'd done a Tesco order and went out for the day! The driver phoned her up when she didn't answer the door. She explained what had happened. She was surprised when her money was credited back to her card 2 days later! I've had a driver phone me when I wasn't home in time and she redelivered half an hour later.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 16:49

The lady said the driver should have phoned and he should have put a card through the door explaining he tried to deliver. I received neither.

Nope. No phone call from driver.

Tried wrong house perhaps?

I'm sick of getting non-delivery cards through the door when couriers tap lightly on our wooden door instead of using the very obvious, loud, doorbell which will summon me from my top floor study. Angry

KatherineJaneway · 14/02/2020 16:56

They didn't have his number. Then they couldn't get through to him.

That's a total lie on their part.

Cosmos45 · 14/02/2020 16:57

Not that this helps you but Ocado did this to us, did not deliver £200 worth of shopping and it was really our word against their's. You don't sign for Ocado and the driver had phoned us to say he could not deliver due to be over his hours, but that message did not get back to head office. They eventually refunded but it was treated as if they were doing us a favour and it was a goodwill gesture rather than a genuine refund. Obviously we have not used them since but it is quite terrifying when you realise there's not much you can do to prove it. We tried to send them the VM file from husbands phone but they said they couldn't view the file.

I hope you get it sorted OP.

letmebefrank · 14/02/2020 16:57

The driver is lying if he said he tried to deliver. Take a photo of your dogs and send them to Tesco. And use Twitter/FB media accounts to go mental at them.

cologne4711 · 14/02/2020 16:59

Have you tried phoning again? And insist on speaking to a manager? I don't understand why they are being so unhelpful. Sainsburys were generally great when we ordered online, and we only had a few issues, mainly when there was bad weather, so understandable.

Anyway if they tried why can't they come back? They cover fairly small areas and go back to their depot/shop to collect other shopping - at least in my area for Sainsburys they do, they're not out all day going from one end of a county to another.

Phone again and insist on a resolution today.

Jaxhog · 14/02/2020 16:59

Probably a bit late in the day, but have you tried calling your bank to request a refund for a delivery that Tesco hasn't made, nor will make without being paid again? Be worth a try.

TwoHeadedYellowBelliedHoleDig · 14/02/2020 17:00

Oooh i had this once. Didn't ring on the door, didn't call me. I called the Tesco customer services number who called the store who called me back and claimed the driver had knocked. Nope. He'd already got back to the store. I think he was due 9-10am and I spoke to the store just after 11. The store went very quiet on the question of whether he'd just buggered off home without doing half of his calls.... but they did call a number of times with alternative delivery slots and put my basket back electronically so I could log it back out with the timeslot they'd made up for me. Didn't get a refund on delivery as I've got a delivery saver pass, or a bottle of wine or anything.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 14/02/2020 17:02

Whenever I have had problems with my Ocado order I find that tweeting them tends to get a response and problem solved/refund issued etc straightaway.

Tweet @Tesco with the basic facts and what you want. Good luck

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 17:04

Now I've been told they THINK it's out for delivery but aren't sure and I need to wait, again, for the duty manager to check and call me back.

How can they not know if its out for delivery or not Confused

I had this issue with tesco and they ended up charging me 3 times! Didn't deliver it the first time so said they would to deliver the next day and took payment again. Didn't come that day so said they would come the day after. Still didn't come and took the payment for the 3rd time and left me with no money. I cancelled the delivery and asked for refund as I couldn't risk a 4th delivery and payment being taken again.Took over £180 from my account for 1 £60 shop. Took 10 days for the refund after ringing and chasing them like 10 times and I had to borrow money off family just to feed myself. All I got was a £10 voucher. I was fuming!
I hope you get your shopping sorted as what they are doing is bang out of order.

bingbangbing · 14/02/2020 17:10

Send them a link to this thread? As you've name changed for it anyway?

Give her, her food you twats!

Shinycat · 14/02/2020 17:13

@LyingWitchInTheWardrobe

Agree.

The post by @JinglingHellsBells was breathtakingly ignorant, pompous, and arrogant. (page 1 posted at 16.16.) Not everyone has a bloody credit card and many people DO run out of food before they buy more. Life is like for some people, and it's so ignorant to assume it isn't!

@ComeOnTesco Any luck yet? Have you messaged Tesco on twitter? I have had success by doing that, and so have some others I know Ignore the people saying it won't work.

ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 17:13

Oh god. Please don't say they'll charge me again Sad I'll get overdraft fees.

Arghhh.

OP posts:
ComeOnTesco · 14/02/2020 17:14

Yes they replied on twitter and just said the store is looking into and will call me back.

Luckystar777 · 14/02/2020 17:17

Let them know about your health issues too. I was housebound a few years back and they didn't show up at mines, went on the phone and explained and they brought the stuff early the next morning. You should write to head office and complain too.

VariousVeins · 14/02/2020 17:18

OP go to Resolver, they will sort it for you. I had a problem with an Asda delivery once and this company sorted it out for me very quickly and I got my refund and a £15 goodwill voucher, not much but better than nothing. I think it's recommended by Martin Lewis too!

Some drivers just lie and say delivery attempted when they have done no such thing - I've had this 3 times recently with DHL's local subcontractor

  1. claimed to have rung doorbell but nobody answered - however my DH and DB were both within 5 steps of the front door and saw no delivery attempt
  2. claimed to have attempted delivery ... at 4 am ... I think not
  3. claimed to have attempted delivery but left no footprints or tyre tracks in the fresh overnight snow ..... spooky!
Nowayorhighway · 14/02/2020 17:24

This sort of happened to me a couple of years ago with Waitrose. The delivery truck had broken down en route but rather than let me know, I had to wait until after the delivery slot had passed and call them to find out where on Earth it was. They offered to redeliver the following day but turned up late, I wasn’t impressed. I got a £20 John Lewis voucher out of it which was nice.

Greenandpleasanter · 14/02/2020 17:26

This is one time when you really want the Daily Fail to pick up the story!

Op I hope you get it sorted. It really is appalling customer service.

JinglingHellsBells · 14/02/2020 17:28

well apologies all but I genuinely thought you had to pay by CC for online orders.

Narcheska · 14/02/2020 17:28

@JinglingHellsBells Hmm

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 14/02/2020 17:32

JinglingHellsBells, well, now you know better, don't you? There is always a Visa sign next to the Mastercard one... but perhaps your butler does it all for you?

It's the OP you really ought to be apologising to by the way.
