If I was going to be offering support, sympathy or comments of how "brave" - they'd all be to his wife and children - who have no choice now but to publicly "support" him or suffer abuse and trolling from his legions of admirers.

Curious about what people think men who come to terms with their homosexuality later in life should be doing. Surely continuing to pretend to be straight causes even more damage?

I remember when I was a kid thst there was a rumour that him and Jason Donovan were together - so always had that in the back of my head that they were both gay ... then they seemed to quickly both get married if I recall correctly ... so I suspect it'll be JD next eh!

This. He could have kept his sexuality a secret and stayed single for 27 years if that's what he wanted to do. There is no need at all to drag other people into it and waste their lives, selfish, selfish man.

I had a friend who did this. His wife and teenage children were devastated and the repercussions in the way they were able to form future relationships were huge. It was hard to watch.

I don't follow slebs, so had no idea he was married with kids. I just always thought he was gay, never occurred to me he was anything else. 🤷‍♀️

Sexuality isn't always straight forward and many people might think they're straight but struggle mentally for years to reconcile their own sexuality in their heads.

There's a lot of sympathy for MH issues on MN but this story, which could well have cause MH issues over the years is treated with disdain.

Knew this. DH used to go out with a singer in PS’s Andrew Lloyd Webber years. It was common knowledge.
