Weird things our bodies do

ffswhatnext · 06/02/2020 11:58

I have a number of health issues to begin with and over the past couple of months I have proper hunger pains just before sneezing. (Will chat to gp at next review)

So what weird stuff does your body do?

If I press on the right side of my neck (where the big veins are) it makes a noise in my right ear, like a drum. I'd love to know why or if anyone else has it.

Ridingthegravytrain · 06/02/2020 12:13

If wind blows into my back I get a weird feeling and nearly pass out

Cheeryandmerry · 06/02/2020 12:18

My thyroid makes a weird clicky sound when I push it from side to side (I assume this is normal Grin)

My left wrist sweats profusely at completely random times. Just a small patch on the outside of my wrist. The rest of me barely ever breaks a sweat! I've never ever heard of anyone else having this...

ffswhatnext · 06/02/2020 13:21

@seekingwaxwings
I have a couple of different types of anaemia and when levels are low I can do the same. Also hear my heart in my ear during other things as well.

I get eczema but only ever on one small patch on one finger.

BarkandCheese · 06/02/2020 13:30

I’ve developed one very recently, as in in the last month. Anything pressing on the backs of my heels makes me feel queasy, I notice it mainly when I’m driving or lying on my back in bed. I’m hoping it’ll go away as rapidly as it started.

SunshineDays2019 · 06/02/2020 15:02

I get nerve pain in my mouth if I touch my left breast Hmm

Frazzlerock · 06/02/2020 15:06

I can make my eyeballs shudder but I have no idea how to explain how I do it. I just do. I remember my science teacher could do it too and I've never met anyone else since then who can - though, to be fair, it's not come up in convo with people I meet.

Frazzlerock · 06/02/2020 15:07

I also yawn after I sneeze, and never sneeze less than 2/3 times. Some people just sneeze once and I have never done that.

Namechanger20183110 · 06/02/2020 15:11

Sorry if this is TMI, but I feel physically sick and have an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach if my nipples are played with. Discovered during foreplay obviously, it's not something I've ever randomly done to myself!!Blush

vixb1 · 06/02/2020 15:13

I go deaf if I yawn- temporarily of course! It's only this thread that's making me wonder if that's normal or not?!

SinkGirl · 06/02/2020 15:20

I can make a weird fluttering sound in my ears just by gently tensing the muscles around my eyes. It’s super weird, but apparently not uncommon.

I also found out that not everyone can deliberately focus and unfocus their eyes by slightly tensing or relaxing - the fact I can do this masked the fact I needed glasses for bloody ages and then one day I suddenly couldn’t focus on anything at all. Scared me to death!

TreacherousPissFlap · 06/02/2020 15:20

I always sneeze twice, then once more a few seconds later.

My right shoulder also makes a sickening twanging noise when I insert a tampon - it doesn't happen at any other time and I don't suffer with shoulder pain so I've always been mystified as to why it happens Hmm

Fluffballs · 06/02/2020 15:23

My ears always itch after I sneeze..

ffswhatnext · 06/02/2020 15:24

Yea multiple sneezes every single time.

Am I the only one now holding their heels, playing with their nipple and countless other things mentioned in this thread?

OP posts:
BobbyBlueCat · 06/02/2020 15:33

@Frazzlerock I can do that too!

SilentBob · 06/02/2020 15:53

Sneezes in multiples of 2 every time. I also have photic sneezing- sun, dark chocolate and cherries.

I get an itchy roof of my mouth if certain areas of my skin are touched. Drives me bonkers.

Mooserp · 06/02/2020 16:20

I have recently experienced something very strange. Noises inside my head - I've had a cat meowing and a clunking sound.

I think (hope) it's tinnitus. It's very strange and unnerving

Frazzlerock · 06/02/2020 16:56

@BobbyBlueCat oh really!? Miss Science Teacher and I are not alone then, unless you are my science teacher...

Namethecat · 06/02/2020 17:00

I get hiccups if I'm hungry.

iklboo · 06/02/2020 17:03

Multiple sneezer here too.

I call DH Badly Wired Boy. You can tickle somewhere on his back and his ear will itch, or on his leg and his nose tickles.

ShirleyPhallus · 06/02/2020 17:07

If I tickle the roof of my mouth it goes really itchy and I have to rub my tongue against it to get the itch to go. DP thinks I am so weird cos he’s never heard of it. Hoping there is another weirdo that does this

thekatydids · 06/02/2020 17:15

I go deaf if I yawn- temporarily of course!

So do I, I think it's normal because of all the close connections between ear, nose and throat.

Somebody said about pain in different parts of the body, my DD was explaining this to me the other day as they did it at university, apparently the areas which deal with pain are fired for different areas of the body according to where they are in the brain, like the area for your uterus is very near the area for your shoulder which is why you can get referred shoulder pain when you have a problem in your uterus. I was driving at the time though so not properly paying attention so I might have explained that wrong.

TheSparklyPussycat · 06/02/2020 17:20

Shirley, that used to happen to me, if I tickled the roof of my mouth with my tongue.

If I get a cough, it makes it itchy under my chin.
