Anyone want to share toddlers' odd names for things?

The other day DS described a miaow as a "cat woof". We also "turn the dark on" rather than "turn the light off".

Mine asked for a squished sandwich for lunch yesterday, I eventually figured out that she wanted a toastie.

Mine refers to Puss In Boots as 'Cat Boots'

She's not a toddler, but my 5yo dd scored a 'patrick' at football last week.

"ladycorn" instead of unicorn 🦄

DGS2 was looking for his baby's 'Piece of the campfire' - took us a while to figure out it was his pacifier. It was a good guess though!

We have placemats with hummingbirds on. Apparently they're called flummingbirds (hence my username). She will argue with me if I say that's not how you say it, utterly convinced she is right.

Cat glitter for cat litter, glitter sounds nicer.

My favourites were bedtime table (bedside table) and 'arm sleeves' to distinguish from 'leg sleeves' in trousers.

DD went through a phase of calling her toes her 'foot fingers'

My daughter calls parmesan cheese 'sprinkle cheese' which it is, I guess!

"Handsocks" for gloves. Logical! "Sattermarge" instead of massage. Not so sure about that one.

DS is 11 now. The toddler words that have stuck are “Cow sieve” (cattle grid) and “finglenails”.

"watering wan" - (watering can)

"it's coldening me" (the snow)

"it's wormeling" (worm was wriggling and moving)

Simon instead of salmon

Mine calls his sister (isobel) Uff-bell and I love it
