Toddler names for things

Anyone want to share toddlers' odd names for things?

The other day DS described a miaow as a "cat woof". We also "turn the dark on" rather than "turn the light off".

I think cow sieve wins this thread! Omfg 😂

Fat cunt roller a very close second.

I miss my moody teens being tiny :(

Anyoed · 28/01/2020 22:35

My son watches Peppar pig and loves the bit where he goes down to the cellar although sons says he's going to the salad. 😂 prawn crisp is one I really do think want him asking for in public he calls them porn crisp😲

Moreanonymousme · 28/01/2020 22:49

We made bread and butter pudding and my DS2 called it toast cake. Think that's one that'll stick!

DT2 calls Peppa "happy pig".

Both twins cannot say their elder sisters name so call her Sister, or "seesaw" as they cannot say that either. They crowd around her bedroom door on school mornings "oh, seesaw, wake a wake!"

Dabba Dabba for helicopter, (I think it's the sound of the blade). All monkeys were honkeys after he got caught up with milkshake honkey.

SarahAndQuack · 28/01/2020 23:00

That's adorable, @JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff.

My DS had more sensible names for various things, IMO:

Jumpoline (trampoline)
Buzzlebee (bumblebee)
holi-bag (suitcase)

He is 5 now but still says 'take it to-part' instead of take it apart which is logical because you put something together, so surely you should take it to-part?

SheepSocks · 28/01/2020 23:06

@halo1234 we also have me-mes at our house too!

DD calls the plug hole in the bath "glug glug", if she doesn't want to get out the bath, she shouts "no glug glug."

GiantKitten · 28/01/2020 23:14

Washing washING for washing machine. Makes perfect sense Grin

Can’t remember now which child that was but they were about 3 at the time.

SpeckledyHen · 28/01/2020 23:19

Clipped -on- house was a semi or terrace to my 3 year old . We still use the term and he is 24 !

Why are some houses clipped on ?

Katinski · 28/01/2020 23:48

I loved flutterbys for butterflies.Perfect!

Threeminis · 28/01/2020 23:54

When my ds was about 2 he had a "bang" (hammer) it came everywhere with us for months

Bluerussian · 29/01/2020 02:56

Mugix for music

sittingonacornflake · 29/01/2020 03:11

'Amblumps' for ambulance is the cutest mispronunciation here.

He also calls his cot his 'cock' and apparently I used to call the dishwasher the 'dickwasher' so he takes after me a bit there.

soundsystem · 29/01/2020 03:43

My DS says ‘can I have a carryooh’ when he wants picking up. From me asking ‘do you want me to carry you?’

We have "car-OOH"'s here as well :)

DD refers to a "knee-oxter" for the back of her knee (oxter being an armpit)

Poetryinaction · 29/01/2020 07:13

She also asks for an up-cuddle when she wants to be carried.

AngelOfDeathNix · 29/01/2020 08:51

Our daughter was two when she asked for more scrunch with dinner. Couldn't work out what she was after, took her into the kitchen where she looked disappointingly into the empty muffin pan and declared "oh no, scrunch all gone" it was at that point that we realised she was talking about Yorkshire puddings. They will forever more be known as scrunch in our house.

Heymummee · 29/01/2020 08:53

My two year old called corn on the cob “peas on the pop” the other day. My now 12 year old used to call his blue blanket his boo wankie 🙈

undead · 29/01/2020 08:57

When new baby came to house ds3 called her bibi.

user1333796 · 29/01/2020 09:03

Not a really funny one, but one of mine thought 'straps' (as in car seat, high chair) was 'traps' which really makes a lot of sense!

hectorglooplovesapoop · 29/01/2020 09:37

My DS calls fish "shit".

In the supermarket, "mummy I want to go and look at the shit".

Whilst at the fish counter.... "woahh big shit mummy". Grin

HeyMac · 29/01/2020 11:36

My 4 year old calls Lazarote "Wah Wah" as we went when she was 3 and that's part of the chorus of one of the songs at the kids disco Grin

tinatsarina · 29/01/2020 13:10

My 5 year old says marote instead of remote. And we had leg sleeves as well when he was younger

MysteriesOfTheOrganism · 29/01/2020 13:53

It's a long time ago - wish I had written them down. The ones i remember:

Cyoom-bumber for cucumber
Bimatoes for tomatoes
Tapoes for potatoes
Doo for ice-cream (because i used to sing along "Doo duh doo..." to the jingle of our regular icecream van.)

The strangest one was her claiming our black cat had rosy cheeks Hmm... it took me years to realise she thought 'rosy' meant plump (and to be fair, in book pictures rosy cheeks are usually also plump).

MrsPerfect12 · 29/01/2020 14:16

Cumberoo for cucumber
Choppit for helicopter
Nam nam for dummy
Par cark for car park
My daughter used to set the table saying here your fuck in knife for fork and knife 🙈
