Toddler names for things

Anyone want to share toddlers' odd names for things?

The other day DS described a miaow as a "cat woof". We also "turn the dark on" rather than "turn the light off".

OP posts:

“My did a Mouth rudey” meaning a burp

AsMuchUseAsAMarzipanDildo · 28/01/2020 21:20

3yo still calls trousers “yeah yeahs”... I don’t want her to ever stop that one.

DH and I made the mistake of laughing when she pronounced “crunch” and “cunts”. She realises it was something funny and proceeded to march around shouting “cunts cunts cunts” for what felt like forever Blush

Saucers are “cup plates”, which I think is pretty sensible in comparison.

DD calls me 'memum' instead of mummy. Don't know why, I've always called myself mummy but it is very cute!

Also gah guul is paw patrol for some reason.

DT2 calls her brother Fishy*

*not his real name

JohnnyMcGrathSaysFuckOff · 28/01/2020 21:23

Apparently at nursery she follows him around the room shouting "oi Fishy" at him 😂

Collection box for selection box!!

zeddybrek · 28/01/2020 21:30

Pot art toe = tomato

I heard a young boy ask his grandmother(?) whether they needed the upscalator or the downscalator in a local shopping centre. I thought that was pretty clever.

DD knows that bees buzz and cows say “moo”. She has also decided that hippos say “hip hip”, butterflies say “flutter flutter” and spiders go around saying “incy wincy”.

Here’s something I find weird. If DD sees a picture of a koala, she knows that it’s a koala. But she also thinks that African Grey parrots are koalas.

My eldest DS (now 8) used to say 'confluter' for computer, 'yait' for wait, 'squivel' for squirrel and 'doddiges' for sausages.

My DD (now 3) used to say 'bubboo' for love you and still says 'let my see' for let me see.

These have all now stuck, much to their annoyance 😉

My youngest DS is seven months and I can't wait to hear his toddlerisms when he starts talking 😊

beckyy · 28/01/2020 22:05

Copta-tailer for helicopter and bunny -kit for guineapig

Kanga83 · 28/01/2020 22:05

My boy calls my bra ' jelly holders'. For ages he called his willy a 'bottom worm'- I have no idea where he got that from at all.
My girl used to call Monday 'moan-day' because daddy used to moan about going to work on Mondays.

Tiredmum21 · 28/01/2020 22:05

My 2yo called reindeer 'rain dinner' and snowflake 'cornflake' over xmas Grin

BackseatKnitter · 28/01/2020 22:14

My 20 month old asks for the dark when she wants her sunglasses, love the logic.

She does have other random pronunciations like Beebin = crayons, but the best is when she shouts out for “Mark” which means milk, but also my DH’s name.

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 28/01/2020 22:16

Dogs were always called "gentles" because when she toddled towards the dogs we would say "gentle".

In the same way "steady" meant run around as fast as you can because I would call "Steady!" if she was rushing round madly. So as a chubby little toddler she would run with her little legs pumping like and and her cheeks puffed out chanting "Shteady! Shteady!"

Flies were "flaggies" because flags fly!

One of the best though was middle daughter who once uttered the amazing sentence: "Daddy, after blekbie can we cloddy with a blaklbie and look at faffablas." "Daddy, after breakfast can we cuddle with a blanket and look at phots.

She is getting married in a few months but my husband and I still cloddy and look at faffablas.

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 28/01/2020 22:25

Amimal = animal
Poo noise = fart
Bock bock = chicken
Wee-wawh (in a singsong voice...!) = willy/penis

Brokenfurnitureandroses · 28/01/2020 22:27

Oh and wibble-wibble for jelly!

TuckMyWin · 28/01/2020 22:28

My 5 year old calls Yorkshire Puddings "Orchard Puddings", and crunchy nut cornflakes "crunched up cornflakes".

Lorddenning1 · 28/01/2020 22:28

B Sketty= spaghetti
Medicent = medicine
Lie for me = will I laydown with him while he naps

TuckMyWin · 28/01/2020 22:29

For a while, cornflakes were 'flat apricots'

Ballygowenwater · 28/01/2020 22:29

@Halo1234 we have me-me for Dummy too.

Also:
Globes for gloves
Pandle best for panda bear is my fave

Mummyeyes · 28/01/2020 22:30

I love toddler talk. Dd's genius ones were "eggballs" meaning hardboiled egg yolks, and "echo" meaning reflection in a mirror or window.

Oliack1417 · 28/01/2020 22:30

'Marks & Spensives' and my littlest says 'mato boop' for tomato soup.

Ballygowenwater · 28/01/2020 22:30

*pandle bear

mamamilkmachine · 28/01/2020 22:31

My daughter asks for goggog when she wants breastfeeding, not sure where it came from...maybe a swallowing noise 🤷‍♀️ but I liked it and it stuck.
