I'm thinking about things that might improve my life

I'm wondering about small purchases that might improve my life. So far I'm thinking:
A couple more phone chargers - one to keep downstairs and one for work

A small, non-pod coffee machine for the bedroom. Any recs?

A plain black cashmere scarf, so I don't need to have to match to cost and/or outfit!

What small things improve your life and might improve mine too?!

Also, just thought:
I could do with a decent make-up mirror. Any recs?

Mini purse perfume spray. Nothing expensive or fancy (current one is m&s)

Good absorbing book

If you struggle to find a certain item of clothing that fits you well, once you, and if its affordable, buy again and put away (if you have room) for when your current version wears out. Lost count of how many times old favourites have been discontinued or replaced once I've worn out the current item. Always happens just when I find something I really like. Also, I buy a lot of clothes in the sale next size up for my son and put them away until they're needed.

Cute lamp!

Yes - good tip 're clothes. I've done it with boots a couple of times.

Now I need a mini book lamp! I've just bought a wide silver candlestick holder from Poundland that's hollow, and have my make up brushes inside it - no more rummaging around in my make up bag for a brush and it looks much nicer than a plastic pot!

Sunnysidegold · 25/01/2020 09:15

Posh miniatures. So my little liquids bag for the plane has a mini l'occitane shower gel, lovely shampoo and conditioner. I don't travel by plane often but it's a lovely treat to use them. Maybe I should splash out on the full sizes since I am a fully grown woman.

If you like fountain pens, get. A glass nibbed pen. I got a cheapy off eBay and I love feeling so fancy when I have dip it in lovely ink. Just use it for nice cards and letters, I'm not running round Tesco's withe a pot of ink scoring off the shopping list (everyone uses an app now, right?).

I got the same oil diffuser shown upthread and love it. Mostly because of the fancy lighting up.

One thing I bought a couple of years ago was high thread count sheets. Just out of tk Maxx so not wildly expensive. Thought they would be a lot of hype but actually they are so lovely to sleep in. Ive slowly been replacing the old sheets with these.

Also the tiny makeup bag in your handbag....I got to 39 before realising I could use them to hold other things. So I have one with makeup, handcream, nail file, tiny mirror (so handy!) Etc. Another with paracetamol, tissues, mints. Also if you wear your hair up, wrap some bobbles round a hairbrush handle to have them handy.

Anything from sistema will improve your life enormously. I've just bought myself an individual egg cooker and it's made me very happy!

One of my 'nice things' is to buy proper bar soap. Not Cussons or Imperial Leather (although nowt wrong with that!) but lovely, paper wrapped, beautifully scented individual bars. TK Maxx generally have a good selection. They last for ever and it's a lovely treat every time I wash my hands or have a shower. The added bonus is that my skin is nowhere near as dry as it used to be.
I also indulge in a fancy handwash for the kitchen, just for practicality, but chose something less mainstream with an uplifting scent (again TK Maxx is a good source)

Oh yes.

I order bar shampoo and soaps online from a small business called www.wild-sage.co.uk and love the scents.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/01/2020 10:38

Yes to lovely soap. Nesti Dante is my favourite, but I prefer the smaller bars and they are hard to track down.

Nesti Dante cut in half quite well!

@Whatnowagnes, that is truly living the dream!!! Grin

Mixitupalot · 25/01/2020 11:24

Great ideas here, planning marking for me as it’s just what I need.

My nice tip is to sit on the sofa & watch tv & get DH to pour my wine on a sat night 😂

peachespassionfruit · 25/01/2020 12:25

I suffer from IBS and a makeup bag with Buscopan, paracetamol, Imodium instants and VI-poo spray kept in my bag makes the unpredictable and sudden attacks of it far less stressful, especially when out and about or at work.

Fizzypoo · 25/01/2020 14:00

I've had another think about life improvements.

Fresh flowers delivered every two weeks. I use a company that posts them through your door in a long box. They're wrapped up individually in the box. They make my life better as they make me happy when I walk into a room.

A milkman! There's a company near me called milk and more. You can order milk, juice, bread ect up to 9pm the night before. I don't use it so much now as DC are in secondary and don't have pack lunches so no emergency bread needed. It's still handy to be able to order a pint of milk to be delivered for the morning to avoid going out late evening when you're low on milk and need morning coffee to function!

Ooh someone posted an oil diffuser. I have one too and LOVE it, it makes my house smell like a spa and I prefer it to any candle. I like 5 drops of geranium, 5 drops of lavender, 3 drops of eucalyptus. This is also nice in the bath with a handful of epsom salts.

Rosebud21 · 25/01/2020 16:50

I love toasty feet & ankles in colder weather and wear slipper socks indoors

Oh I like the bath thingy! My mum and dad had a metal and plastic one back in the day- practical but not very pretty. The bamboo one is much nicer.

I'm a big fan of packing cubes and use Gonex ones in blue and turquoise. Very pleasing when you open your suitcase and see only seven or eight neat rectangles and as a PP said you just pop them into a drawer and unpacking on holiday takes no time at all. Especially useful if you're travelling around with only a night or two in each place. Hair and shower stuff in one, swim stuff in another, t-shirts all together and so on.

My recommendation is those little Korean exfoliating mitts. Inexpensive and last for ages and you never need to buy exfoliator again. Lovely smooth legs and arms .. don't use them on your face though!

Bamboo bed linen- incredibly luxurious and I’ve never slept so well.

ZootSuit · 25/01/2020 23:34

Where did the book lamp go?!

QueenOfOversharing · 26/01/2020 00:16

@Miss1973HulaHoopChampion I did a quick search & found one called Dark Sky. You can set up a custom notification for a temp below 0 overnight, for example. It's £3.99 one off payment to get the app. No, I do not work for them! I just got it for myself.

Really nice loungewear.
I didn’t get it before but it’s nice to have something to relax in that isn’t just pjs, makes me feel less scuzzy when I’m lounging about
