I'm thinking about things that might improve my life

I'm wondering about small purchases that might improve my life. So far I'm thinking:
A couple more phone chargers - one to keep downstairs and one for work

A small, non-pod coffee machine for the bedroom. Any recs?

A plain black cashmere scarf, so I don't need to have to match to cost and/or outfit!

What small things improve your life and might improve mine too?!

I buy all the birthday cards for the year in January. So on a small stack of post it's, write the name and date of the person m. Go to card factory, stick post it on the corner as I choose the cards. When I get home I sit and write them all, leave some unsealed if I would usually add money or if I'm going to get Dd to scribble in it (grandparents cards mainly 😂). If they will need posting I write the name and add a stamp, if you're sure the person won't move house before their birthday add the address too 😂. It takes some time but no more last minute rushing getting a card in the post.

Dd has 2 lunchboxes for nursery. One was a present, but it's really handy because I can make her lunch for the next day while I make myself some lunch. I don't have to wait for her to get home from nursery with her lunchbox to re-pack it.

Phone charger for the car.
I also have a small make up bag full of painkillers, plasters, antiseptic wipes. I take it on holiday or on day trips and it’s always ready to go.

TheClitterati · 24/01/2020 06:59

7days there Are some very expensive ones around but I got mine from Amazon. I think they were three for £21

TeachesOfPeaches · 24/01/2020 07:12

I spent £26 on M&S socks the other day: special boot socks, thick trainer socks that won't get holes and lovely normal colourful socks. Been years since I've done that!

TeachesOfPeaches · 24/01/2020 07:34

Also Tupperware that has the lid attached so you don't spend forever looking for the bastard lids then end up throwing them all out in a rage

Daddylonglegs1965 · 24/01/2020 11:53

TeachesOfPeaches That’s a good idea I spend ages looking for a suitable sized box but can I find a lid that fits never and in desperation the cupboard gets trashed and I end up in a bad mood.

oooh if you like luxury socks I can recommend a sock subscription from Genevive Sweeny - every month I received a gorgeous pair of socks from them, all UK made, naturea fibers etc. I only stopped as I have enough socks for now but when I need new socks I will sign up again. It was a really lovely treat.

Guys, if you want to talk about laundry, Tupperware and remembering birthday cards, please do so - BUT NOT ON MY NICE THINGS THREAD!!!!

I'm ordering a Contigo mug and some more fountain pen ink, because those are actually exciting!

Op accept it, your thread has morphed....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/01/2020 19:05

And now it's dead. Shame. I was loving it until the Tupperware and laundry took over.

😂

A boar bristle brush. I had greasy roots and dry ends. The boar bristles distribute the natural oils more evenly throughout the hair. Brilliant!Smile

I travel a lot for work and seem to live in meetings and all day work shops. An IPad and Apple Pencil have been wonderful.

I have the Nova app, so can hand write on my iPad then double tap and it converts it to typed text.

Draw diagrams and it makes them into nice neat flow charts.

Then send them out.

Saved loads of time typing up my notes and means I get to do my 'actions' there and then rather than working at home in the evening.

AlCalavicci · 24/01/2020 21:23

@Ronnie27 I have been raving about my robo vac ( Eufy) on here and irl to any one that will listen. Smile

AlCalavicci · 24/01/2020 21:25

Tho tbf at £185 it wasn't a small purchase Blush

Whatnowagnes · 24/01/2020 21:46

I have bought myself the most gorgeous mattress, lovely sheets and a silk nightdress. Every night I feel incredible and sleep better than I have in my life.

Also bought my favourite bath oil, beautiful mug and a thingy that goes over the bath. Every night before I lord it up in my luxury bed I have a luxury bath with biscuits, a brew and a book all balanced on my bath thingy.

No matter how the rest of my day has gone, I finish it like this!

AlCalavicci · 24/01/2020 22:16

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/01/2020 08:10

I've got an oil burner (just a basic one) but never remember to use it. Thanks for the reminder. I've also got lovely candles, which I rarely remember to light.

My heated velvet throw..
It might be a bit boring, but I bought a couple of those standing racks for stacking clothes hangers, so no more empty hangers all over, or falling off the rail. I bought the metal ones, which are much sturdier.
One of those book shaped lamps. I keep the small one in my handbag, to read by.
A set of tiny ceramic spice drawers, for fuses, batteries, hooks, safety pins, etc.
That worked so well I bought another one for my rings, earrings, and so forth.
