Inspired by other thread with hardly any detail.

I’m American. Was in Rome at an Irish pub with karaoke. An 80s pop song came on and all the British and Scottish people I was with knew every word. It was upbeat and I loved it. But I’d never heard it before. We are all the same age so I know all of the English music that was popular in the US in the 80s.

I’ll listen to anything you suggest here and see if that’s it.

What about 'Perfect' by Fairground Attraction? The singer is Eddi Reader. They were big over here, but quite unknown in the USA.

Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and The Waves?

Do we know what the song was yet!?

rockingchaircandle · 21/01/2020 10:51

Oh no, I've only just found out that the singer from Roxette, Marie Fredriksen, has died. She was only 61 Sad

HannaYeah · 21/01/2020 12:57

Sorry all, I’ll try to catch up on listening today!

What I’m finding is that I know most all of these already from when they were out. There wasn’t much music that didn’t make it over from UK to the US. But it’s so fun to learn about the music that we didn’t get here.

Also lots of good memories!
