Inspired by other thread with hardly any detail.

I’m American. Was in Rome at an Irish pub with karaoke. An 80s pop song came on and all the British and Scottish people I was with knew every word. It was upbeat and I loved it. But I’d never heard it before. We are all the same age so I know all of the English music that was popular in the US in the 80s.

I’ll listen to anything you suggest here and see if that’s it.

Come in OP, I'm probably more frustrated than you are!!

HannaYeah · 18/01/2020 22:45

Def not Proclaimers - that was super popular here and I sang it at the top of my lungs in my car pretty much daily. And this song wasn’t quite that fast.

Not Tainted Love. That I also know well.

I’ll check out a few Pogues songs. But I don’t think it was one of theirs.

Not these:
Dead or Alive.
Aha.
Culture Club
Human League
Rick Astley

I’ll check out Black Lace and then the others now and report back immediately.

I don’t know any lyrics. We were all 3 sheets to the wind and it was a few years back so they won’t remember either.

Not Duran Duran for sure. Love them.

Not the Black Lace song. That’s super fun but this one wasn’t so silly!

I think it was a woman. Forgive me for just now thinking about that.

Could it have been something by ABBA or Fleetwood Mac (female singers but not female bands.)
People of a certain age Wink would know all the words to loads of ABBA songs.
And another Bonnie Tyler one - It's a Heartache.
