Which Star Trek ship would you like to serve on?

I love Star Trek and am looking forward to the new series Star Trek Picard on Amazon next week.

I’ve been thinking about which ship I would like to serve on. Tbh it is easy, Voyager!

I’m sure I’m not the only Trek fan (I’m not a Trekkie) here. Let’s see which is the most popular vessel.

Any bloody Cardassians out there can bugger off now.

TNG for me with Picard and Troy and all the gang! Everyone got along, Picard always sorted everything out. A level 2 diagnostic would be the answer to any potential anomaly in the time-space continuum.

Never be a red shirt extra. They die like goldfish.

Look much as I’d love to be on the Enterprise in terms of a great crew and relatively friendly part of the universe I think we all know that there are three ways to do something - the right way, the wrong way, and the Janeway! Grin

Voyager - working in engineering or astrometrics (but not with 7 because I think she'd be an awful colleague)

or Enterprise D also in engineering.

And there's nothing wrong with Cardassians.

I don't normally read star trek books but Andrew Robinson (Garak) wrote a book called "A Stitch In Time" which is all about his character's life. It's very good. Highly recommended.

PatriciaHolm · 17/01/2020 19:08

Enterprise NX-01, under Archer. Ahem.

fantasmasgoria1 · 17/01/2020 19:09

Voyager without doubt. Kathryn janeway is an awesome captain!

Strandliv · 17/01/2020 19:11

Voyager? But you’d be lost on voyager, away from all your loved ones. I don’t think you’ve thought this through at all.

Definitely Enterprise under Picard.

I’m really looking forward to Picard!

ISaySteadyOn · 17/01/2020 19:12

Enterprise D with Picard and Worf and Data (yes, I am v odd).

vroc81 · 17/01/2020 19:12

Voyager... or Enterprise D with Picard...

My DH would be on DS9... I married him despite this... Hmm

Strandliv · 17/01/2020 19:13

Although if we’re going for movies, the new Enterprise under Kirk... working with Dr McCoy (Karl Urban, not Deforest Kelly).

SanFranBear · 17/01/2020 19:15

Looks like it, Zaphod Grin

But seeing all the Trekkies out in force is rather nice.. its one of those programmes where there's a series for everyone, as this thread shows!

Voyager is like a family

Yup, Voyager for me too.

Any look at the news makes being isolated from it on the other side of the galaxy appealing.

HappyHarlot · 17/01/2020 19:16

I drink tea...Earl Grey...hot. So it would have to be under Picard. I love them all though. Except Wesley, he was a brat.

Ginger1982 · 17/01/2020 19:18

The original. And I'd be rampantly shagging Kirk in my mini dress!

Becca19962014 · 17/01/2020 19:19

voyager? But you'd be lost on voyager away from your loved ones

I DEFINITELY thought it through!! Grin

Oh and I loved B5 too!

I've not watched discovery yet though along with voyager DVDs I bought the DVDs for Christmas ... Scott Bakula is always going to be Sam Beckett to me so I struggled with him as archer (probably as the first and only thing I saw him in for years) - though I love Dean Stockwell when he's playing an enemy!!! He was sooo good in enterprise!

I loved TOS and next gen. I always wanted to be a borg, until they changed them into having personalities and being "nice" I like my baddies to be bad!! DS9 I struggled with, got those for Christmas too so trying again but it's just not for me, despite loving B5!

I hoping Picard goes to DVD so I can see it!!!

Becca19962014 · 17/01/2020 19:21

Wesley was a brat (got next gen on DVD on Black Friday for £20 a couple of years ago and binge watched), though I don't and didn't at the time either think Wil Wheaton deserved the shit he got for playing the part.

What was the film with Tom Hardy in? Nemesis was it?

Shadow01 · 17/01/2020 19:29

Voyager, I always had a thing for Chakotay Blush

elspethmcgillicuddy · 17/01/2020 19:30

Enterprise D. Obvs. Why is this even a debate?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 17/01/2020 19:37

As much as I have a soft spot for TNG crew, it would also be Voyager for me too. Got me through some crap sundays back when I only had 4 tv channels Grin

Although I do agree with previous poster about Dr Bashir. He still looks great now.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 17/01/2020 19:40

Whoever mentioned Dr Bashir, he was gorgeous. Tbf, Alexander Siddig is still gorgeous now.

CaptainCallisto · 17/01/2020 19:43

@FlatCheese I love A Stitch in Time - such a wonderful book! Also The Left Hand of Destiny which was written by J.G. Hertzler about what happens to Martok (and Worf and Alexander) after the end of DS9.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 17/01/2020 19:48

I like Picard's Enterprise the best. It's bigger so you can choose your friends and be able to avoid the really annoying ones, like Kes on Voyager who was infinitely slappable. Plus everything works on the Enterprise and you would just go to space dock for repairs if needed. Not like Voyager where all the tech stuff is pretty much sellotaped together and they forage suspicious looking food from alien planets, I'm a picky eater with various intolerances, I would starve.

BecauseReasons · 17/01/2020 19:50

I think Deep Space Nine for increased ability to have family on board (and more non-combat roles). It also seems safer and I feel they got more shore-leave but I'm not certain of that. Less eye-candy of course.

Archer's Enterprise is a good shout too.

I cannot adequately express how horrific Janeway was as a captain. She's the worst one. She'd have never lasted in reality and I'm amazed she's so popular.

banivani · 17/01/2020 19:58

DS9 isn’t even a contender people, the question was which SHIP.

Voyager for me too, despite the series not being completely 💯 all the way through (but none of them are) - like you say, it feels like family and more importantly the fact that it is isolated in the DQ means there is room for time travelling losers like me too - they’d find me a spot and something to do (sadly most likely with Neelix in the kitchen). There wouldn’t be any space for me on the Enterprise with JLP (but that is my first love).

CrocodileFrock · 17/01/2020 20:00

Voyager - though only if Janeway could be bribed to leave both Neelix and Kes on an uninhabited moon somewhere. Neelix's awful cooking would be punishment enough for anyone.

It's still a long-standing rule in our house though that anytime we see Robert Picardo in anything, someone has to say, "Please state the nature of the medical emergency." Blush
