Which Star Trek ship would you like to serve on?

I love Star Trek and am looking forward to the new series Star Trek Picard on Amazon next week.

I’ve been thinking about which ship I would like to serve on. Tbh it is easy, Voyager!

I’m sure I’m not the only Trek fan (I’m not a Trekkie) here. Let’s see which is the most popular vessel.

Any bloody Cardassians out there can bugger off now.

I'm confused.... how does the timeline work for 7 to be with Picard? (Who...by the way is mine...😆)

Or am i over thinking this and should just sit back to be entertained...

SanFranBear · 24/01/2020 12:55

And Babylon 5 was similar - things from the pilot cropped up in the final few episodes which was incredible for the time!

I don't think its on any streaming services sadly and the creator has made it clear it will never be remade or rebooted. But it is soooooo good!

Becca19962014 · 24/01/2020 12:58

JMS was clear about there being a four season arc only to B5. However, due to a lot of pressure and campaigning he allowed a fifth series to be made (I spent entirely too much time campaigning for that and now find myself agreeing with the 1-4 idea! Opps).

I googled, the relevant timelines were

•	Star Trek: The Next Generation (<a class="break-all" href="//tel:2364-2370" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">2364-2370</a>)
•	Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (<a class="break-all" href="//tel:2369-2375" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">2369-2375</a>)
•	Star Trek: Voyager (<a class="break-all" href="//tel:2371-2378" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">2371-2378</a>)

I'm not sure when exactly Picard starts, but presumably a good while after Voyager got back.

I found the view YouTube clip, it's here m.youtube.com/watch?v=YsA61VvA8cw

Errol - good work, I've always wondered how they slot as characters do randomly pop up. I watched the Voyager pilot last night and there was Quark, trying to scam the innocent (and rather beautiful) Harry Kim.

Picard is set 25 years after Nemesis so yes, I'd say Voyager would've been comfortably home by then.

Zaphodsotherhead · 24/01/2020 15:57

Saddest thing ever was the lights being switched out on the B5 station in that final episode...

Awrite · 24/01/2020 16:28

Just home from work. Itching to watch Picard but I'm being good and will watch with the whole family later.

Good to know it's great.

NationMcKinley · 24/01/2020 16:49

NCC 1701-D under (Wink) Picard for me but I’d have Troi and Wesley thrown into space. Soooooo annoying.

Babylon 5 was amazing. One of my most favourite series ever. I loved Delenn especially.

scissy · 24/01/2020 16:58

Also loved Babylon 5. I thought the (very) original plan was a 5 season story arc but then there was a possibility it was going to be cancelled after 4, hence the rather "abrupt" wrapping up at the end of that season! Sad really, as that left season 5 as a bit of a damp squib in comparison. I could be totally wrong there though.

Anyway, if I had to pick a ship, it'd be the Defiant. DS9 is my favourite ST. Although depending on how Picard goes it might have competition!

banivani · 24/01/2020 17:29

Apparently we have a trial period Amazon Prime account! Evening is mapped out!

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 24/01/2020 17:37

I took out a one month Prime subscription to watch The Expanse season 4 over the school holidays. I've just watched Picard, loved it, and my subscription expires this weekend. Hmm I think I'll let the season run and then take out another month's subscription at the end of March so that I can watch the whole lot in one go.

Becca19962014 · 24/01/2020 17:47

scissy no JMS the creator of B5 only wanted four seasons and, then B5 films. He didn't want a fifth season. Everyone else wanted a fifth!! And got their wish!!

Willow2017 · 24/01/2020 18:39

Just watched 'Picard' very good. What a concept. Its gonna get complicated i think!
Was that what i think it was at the end?🤔🤔

TheFaerieQueene · 24/01/2020 20:52

I didn’t ever think, when I started this thread, that it would resonate with so many wonderful people. It is fabulous that there are some many Mumsnetters are loving the Trekverse.

I’m still a Voyager girl! 🥰

I love this thread!

It reminds me of when I was a student back in the early 1990s. I had a very geeky sciency housemate who used to launch into monologues about what he would do if he were ever asked to work on the Starship Enterprise. Because it would be an honour you know, but it would mean a long time away from home.

Bless him!, I wonder where he is now...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2020 21:05

Picard was just wow! Loved it!

TheFaerieQueene · 24/01/2020 21:18

Does anyone have an idea what happened to the Borg baby that 7 of 9 transported onto Voyager in the episode Collective, where she rescues the partially assimilated Borg children? Did they Tuvix her?

Well, dh, dd and I loved Picard and are very excited to watch where it goes from here.

Small boy not so enamoured. Maybe he was just tired and cranky.

Do we know - will it be weekly? How many episodes a series I wonder.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2020 22:38

It's 10 episodes and weekly I think.

Awrite · 24/01/2020 22:52

Cheers. I guess I'm going to have to be patient.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2020 22:55

I was definitely ready for another episode right away. It was cinematic in quality.

Waterandlemonjuice · 24/01/2020 23:14

Loved Picard but wish they'd release them all at once!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 24/01/2020 23:27

At least we have something to look forward to next week.
