Which Star Trek ship would you like to serve on?

I love Star Trek and am looking forward to the new series Star Trek Picard on Amazon next week.

I’ve been thinking about which ship I would like to serve on. Tbh it is easy, Voyager!

I’m sure I’m not the only Trek fan (I’m not a Trekkie) here. Let’s see which is the most popular vessel.

Any bloody Cardassians out there can bugger off now.

And Nog being the Kazon lad Chakotay got stuck with.

Tim Russ (Tuvok) played a terrorist on TNG. He was a human not a Vulcan in that episode. It is a common occurrence that actors played different roles in different series. I think that Ethan Phillips (Neelix - the grim) played a ferengi in DS9.

Also Ro Laren was supposed to be the Voyager chief engineer instead of B’elanna, as a continuation of her defection to the Maquis, but it didn’t pan out.

The actor who played Gul Dukat also played another Cardassian in TNG, a Romulan and 3 other characters.

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2020 18:33

Jeffrey Combs played a lot of roles including some quite major ones.

I googled Jeffrey combs after seeing his name so much in various ST (and other sci fi series) credits to see what he actually looked like!!

I'd like to nominate Weyoun as one of the worst baddies in Star Trek. Can never take someone seriously when a person has a permanent look of nearly bursting into tears.

7Worfs · 20/01/2020 19:30

Though he was excellent as “Brunt, FCA” Grin

Awrite · 20/01/2020 19:42

The actress who played Ro Laren has just popped up in Treadstone (Bourne Identity prequel caper) and when I googled her, I found out that she was offered a part on DS9 but turned it down so they created the part on Kira.

Also, she was in Battlestar Galactica which I bloody loved. The Admiral.

I'd like to nominate Weyoun as one of the worst baddies in Star Trek.

One of? I'm struggling for worse. There are holodeck mobsters with deeper characterisation.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 20/01/2020 19:50

Weyoun pulls exactly the same, almost in tears, faux gentle yet sadistic faces as Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 20/01/2020 20:03

I'm happy to shove Weyoun on top of the crap heap, but remember Kai Winn and the Female changling?

Kittykatmacbill · 20/01/2020 20:07

Jeez any right now!

I always loved enterprise under Picard, but ideally not wearing a red shirt.

7Worfs · 20/01/2020 20:18

Kai Winn actress was superb, she’s an Oscar winner too.

donquixotedelamancha · 20/01/2020 20:19

Weyoun pulls exactly the same, almost in tears, faux gentle yet sadistic faces as Dolores Umbridge in Harry Potter.

Joaquin Phoenix and Jared Leto both played the exact same character recently, yet I would argue there is quite a big difference in the execution.

P.S. Dukat is the greatest baddie in ST history. Anyone who thinks otherwise is crazy.
The idea for Weyoun isn't bad. The writing and acting were.

Becca19962014 · 20/01/2020 20:59

Michelle Forbes (Ro Laren) has been in several ST series (different characters/species) as well as battlestar galactica, other actors appear in both franchises as well - Dean Stockwell and Nana Vistor are the ones I know off the top of my head without checking.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 20/01/2020 21:32

I hated the way they turned Dukat in caricature of himself in the last season of DS9. He was a great character up til that point.

I'm glad Garak got to go back to Cardassia though.

7Worfs · 20/01/2020 21:38

Gul Dukat was on the precipice of a redemption arc many times; in the end it was Damar, who I’d happily share a kanar with. Blush

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 20/01/2020 21:46

I felt bad for Damar. He saw the error of his ways then died a martyr.

Dukat died as a villain to show how powerful Sisko had become.

Awrite · 20/01/2020 21:48

Damar was married to B'leanna in real life.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 20/01/2020 21:50

Yeah but before either were actually in Star Trek.

Becca19962014 · 20/01/2020 22:01

Worf played his great(?) grandfather in undiscovered county as the counsel defending Kirk and scotty.

KatherineJaneway · 21/01/2020 14:04

Ethan Phillips played a Ferengi in TNG as well, the one where the Damon captures Riker, Deanna and Lwaxana.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 21/01/2020 14:06

Voyager please, and have a riotous affair with Chakotay.

KatherineJaneway · 21/01/2020 14:20

I met Robert Beltran and he was really lovely, he even let me give him a kiss on the cheek.
