Ida, Ada, Sharon, Glenda, Maureen, Doreen, glenys, Barbara, Freda, millicent, Edna, hillary, Lorraine, Nellie, Gertrude, Yvonne plus several others people have named!

Love Mabel and like Ida too. Haven’t come across a young Mary in a while.

My much-adored Gran was a Winifred. Now that's a name I hope never comes back. Really ugly name for a lovely lady.

Also hope Susan never returns. All Susan's were born in the early 50's It's my name (for my sins) and I loathe it, I can endure Sue but I won't even answer to Susan.

Regarding the improbability of a moody teen named Percy, it is very much imaginable as it exists in the personage of Percy Jackson, very popular book series.

TheKrakening3 · 16/01/2020 06:12

DD1 is Margaret. I wanted to name DD2 Millicent but DH vetoed it. Sigh. I have seen several Margaret newborns pop up lately but no Millicents. Maybe DH was right and it is goddam awful but I am sad my Maggie and Millie never happened.

avocadochocolate · 16/01/2020 06:12

Well I've always disliked my name ....... and it appears in many PPs. My mum's and brother's names too.

MaureenMLove · 16/01/2020 06:16

There's 2 Garys at my school. One in year 7 and one in year 8, so it's not quite dead yet!

Marinetta · 16/01/2020 06:18

I thought Derek would never come back but there's a baby Derek in my son's nursery class.

I’ve just RTFT and my name only appeared once! I absolutely hate it though and use a nickname version of it, full name 6 letters starts with E and ends with E.

I don’t understand why my parents used it as it’s the same bloody name as my mum and neither of my 2 brothers were named after our dad.

My best friends names are here on every page, typical 70’s names and both my current dp and the fathers of both my children.

Thankfully I chose my dc’s names well and they’re both lovely.

We have a Gary, Peter and John in the infants at dd’s Primary school.

A friend of mine has a baby Joanna Smile

I have loads of Sue friends...they are all lovely
I wish it was my name

madmother1 · 16/01/2020 07:03

Sharon and Tracey

Charley50 · 16/01/2020 07:04

That's so weird op, as I know a a really cool elderly lady called Vera, and just yesterday I was thinking what a nice name it is, and it should make a comeback 😂

AJPTaylor · 16/01/2020 07:06

Well a few years ago, it would have been Albert and ada.
So on that basis all beta are off.

SalemTheTeenageWitch · 16/01/2020 07:15

There is an Alan at the primary where I teach.
No Terry or Patricia though Grin.

Tsubasa1 · 16/01/2020 07:16

My daughter is an Eileen. Haven't met any others...

lovelyupnorth · 16/01/2020 07:19

Half the names that are fashionable now you’d have said would never come back 10 years ago so never say never.

londonmarathonhalfwaypoint · 16/01/2020 07:19

Denise

wanderings · 16/01/2020 07:21

No moody teen called Percy? "Excuse me, I'm Head Boy!" He also goes non-contact with his family, in true Mumsnet style, sending back his hand-knitted Christmas jumper without a note.

I know a young Elsie, but I've never met a young Joan. I remember an ancient reading book in my primary school with the line "Joan jumped up and down. 'Oh good! I hope we can make a tent better than Tom's.'" (Joan being a little girl.)

Phyllis is my mums name and I can’t see that being popular anytime soon, although I said the same of Audrey and Elsie and I see that is becoming more popular

GlitteryGracie · 16/01/2020 07:28

Brian is surely extinct?

I taught a little Brian last year, couldn't resist saying "cheer up Brian!" Aka life of Brian to him at regular intervals Grin

Chocolatemice · 16/01/2020 07:35

Aedwine

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 16/01/2020 07:42

Burn Sharon as a name.

It’s horrible and awful.

I may be over invested in this
