New thread for a new year!

A diary thread for our daily meals, to record, share, glean menu inspiration and chat, but no judging each other’s food choices.

Let’s include some recipe-sharing in this thread Smile

Toasted muffin
Bowl of dahl and chappati
Veggie fajitas (onion, pepper, mushroom, black beans, sweet corn and guacamole)
Slice of bread while waiting for fajitas

Nuttyaboutnutella · 14/01/2020 22:35

AwkwardSquad thank you! The frittata will be on my meal plan very soon and going to pick up some blackcurrants on next week's shop!

Redpriestandmozart that is a seriously impressive soup stash. What flavours have you got there?

Bloodybridget · 15/01/2020 01:54

B: granola with banana, pomegranate seeds and yogurt, toast and marmite, black coffee.
Late morning: cappuccino.
L: beans on toast, tangerine. Quite a lot of almond milk chocolate.
Early evening: bag of crisps, and a terrible americano mostly swigged while walking between a class and choir rehearsal. Burnt my mouth on it too.
Red wine and a few mouthfuls of nibbly stuff with choir after rehearsal, it was our termly open evening when we finish early and socialise to welcome newcomers.
Supper: leftover veg curry and dhal from the freezer, with some brown rice from a pouch and nasty Sainsbury's lime pickle; they didn't have Patak's when I went shopping.
Finished the almond milk chocolate, much to DP's disappointment (and shock) when she got home a bit later. Fortunately there was plain chocolate left for her.

Ahhh sorry @Redpriestandmozart, I namechecked the wrong pp! That is seriously impressive soup stash and freezer organisation, it’s motivating me to get cooking the weekend 👍🏽

Bloodybridget good that there was still some plain chocolate at least, or that could have not gone well Grin

Singing collectively must be a great experience. I cannot sing and it saddens me. Well.. I can sing, it’s just that I don’t hit the same notes as everyone else...

Today will be

B. Overnight oats
L. Spiced lentil soup
D. Japanese vegetable curry with sticky rice
S. A few strawberries

60oz water, 2 Yorkshire biscuit teas, and a coffee.

@AwkwardSquad and @Nuttyaboutnutella thank you, the freezer holds 72 portions of soup (sad that I know that) I like to keep it stocked and rotated. There are a few soups there, vegetable (with barley) Polish vegetable (with lentils), spiced lentil, butternut & butterbean, sweetcorn noodle, minted pea, minestrone, Mexican blackbean, Africian peanut & sweet potato, tomato lentil and mushroom.

They're all vegan soups. I do get stuck in a bit of a rut with these favourites but occasionally I add a new recipe.

AwkwardSquad · 15/01/2020 17:45

Waves at sparklyglitterball - welcome!

autumnhare yes, definitely. And I’ve also found a bit of a pattern with enthusiastic spending right before my period. No longer an issue, though!

Absolutely nothing.

AGnu · 15/01/2020 19:42

Bread with Marmite
A Snickers bar
A Dairylea dunker
A chocolate coin
An orange
About to have ready made fish pie (Charlie Bingham's) with peas & carrots.

Not the healthiest of days... I'm severely lacking in motivation for pretty much any basic self-care stuff at the moment so I count it as a win if I eat anything!

onlyhereforthefood · 15/01/2020 20:33

B- slice of toast with marmite
L- itsu katsu instant noodle pot
S- popchips, mini gingerbread man
D- two poached eggs on two potato waffles

Feeling physically and mentally rubbish today and just haven't fancied much/anything of real nutritional value

AwkwardSquad · 15/01/2020 21:24

I think that when we are feeling low, just eating something is a win and we shouldn’t beat ourselves up over quality. Just focus on getting some fuel into yourselves.

Flowers to everyone who is struggling right now.
