Can you help me?

He’s older, late sixties, early seventies. Tall, white, slim, glasses, white/gray hair. Very well spoken/posh. I’m not 100% about whether he’s a journalist/broadcaster or an actor. Nothing obvious on Google..... a bit vague I know but if Mumsnet can find someone’s ring in Archway I am sure it can help me identify this guy!

sussexlady · 03/01/2020 17:44

I used to work in posh department stores and this was always happening to me. I’d know I knew them relatively well .. ( from somewhere?) and would greet them as someone I knew well, whilst I inwardly panicked thinking ‘ Christ- wtf are they?’ Id say stuff like ‘ oh how lovely to see you- how are you keeping?’ And ‘ Er, how are things? The family? ‘ as my mind scrabbled around. Finally, the penny would invariable drop, Id look at them- they’d look at me and see the penny dropping and smile a bit, then id be either tongue-tied or every effusive til they left. But I remember that sting feeling of knowing you know someone without knowing who they actually are Smile

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/01/2020 17:45

Tom Ward wafted past me at break neck pace at Marylebone station.

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/01/2020 17:48

I saw posh and becks a long time ago at an airport - probably Heathrow. Brooklyn was a toddler. She nipped into Boots then the loos. No entourage or paparazzi.

Merryweather80 · 03/01/2020 17:50

Toyah Wilcox and Nigel Clark live in the same town/village I do. I've never seen either of them.
I did meet spit the dog and bob Carolgees when I was three. My only claim to fame.

Halloweenbabyy · 03/01/2020 17:50

@Disfordarkchocolate Blush Rupert Giles is life.

Anoone · 03/01/2020 17:51

I see Dame Judi Dench in my local Waitrose quite a bit. She is ever so unassuming and seems very sweet!

IlsSortLaPlupartAuNuitMostly · 03/01/2020 17:54

Rupert Giles is a god amongst men, but ASH’s crowning achievement is his performance as Gently Benevolent in Bleak Expectations

ashleyanne2016 · 03/01/2020 17:55

Simon Callow??? I live Archway Road seen him a few times, I allowed him to go ahead of me in the queue at Sainsbury's as he only had two items and seemed in a hurry. Very polite - only after he left the shop I realised ah Four Weddings!

Lord Greystoke-Manderly Gibbons? Although he normally prefers Tesco.

ForalltheSaints · 03/01/2020 18:01

Paul Young used to come into our local Waitrose from time to time.

Ated · 03/01/2020 18:04

Show us the radio, we might recognise him.

Pliudev · 03/01/2020 18:08

I saw Jon Snow at a gallery opening. He was surrounded by people all evening but as we left I realised he was just in front of me. So I tapped him on the shoulder and told him that last time I saw him he'd been leading a sit in at Liverpool university. He flung his arms round me, said I couldn't possibly be so old and complimented the top I was wearing. Made my evening!

PutsFootInIt · 03/01/2020 18:08

I saw one of the professionals from strictly in asda yesterday. I wasn't sure why I recognised him at first then I noticed he was wearing a strictly come dancing fleece Grin, just in case anyone was unsure.

I just googled for confirmation and it was Aljaz

@scarbados as a huge fan of Alan Rickman I can tell you I'm dying of jealousy.

I've loved him ever since my mum took me to see Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. 😍

"That's it then. Cancel the kitchen scraps for lepers and orphans, no more merciful beheadings, and call off Christmas."

And as a HUGE Harry Potter fan.... need I say more? ⚡

Oblahdeeoblahdoe · 03/01/2020 18:12

I once met Tony Robinson of Time Team fame in a supermarket in Spain. He was lovely and signed a paper napkin ( I had nothing else) for a friend who was just about to start an archeology course
