Can you help me?

He’s older, late sixties, early seventies. Tall, white, slim, glasses, white/gray hair. Very well spoken/posh. I’m not 100% about whether he’s a journalist/broadcaster or an actor. Nothing obvious on Google..... a bit vague I know but if Mumsnet can find someone’s ring in Archway I am sure it can help me identify this guy!

OP posts:

Jeremy vine? He's weirdly been on tv loads lately although more famous on radio?

ManonBlackbeak · 02/01/2020 20:57

I once saw a famous person in Manchester airport, but like the OP I couldn't place him. It wasn;'t until several months later I saw him on television in Peak Practice, his name was Simon Shepherd!

BikeRunSki · 02/01/2020 21:01

He’s a theatrical agent @BarbaraofSeville, and represents Judi Dench and Colin Firth, so he must be pretty well known in some circles.

OrchidJewel · 02/01/2020 21:04

I spotted a very famous person one day when I was serving them in a pub. Got very smug to fellow staff.(yeh you go for it they said) . Up I went and said 'i know you from somewhere, wink wink' he said ' yeh I'm your local butcher Dave'

Elderflower14 · 02/01/2020 21:04

I was once on a train and two guys sat opposite me.. Took me ages to realise that one of them was Archie from Monarch Of The Glen!!

schoolcats · 02/01/2020 21:05

I think it's probably John Curtice.

MoaningMinniee · 02/01/2020 21:06

Nigel Havers is Marlborough Waitrose. Jack Whitehall is retrospective, as is the Duchess of Cambridge, both princesses of York, Mrs David Cameron, and Mrs Last Speaker of the House Of Commons... They've recently upgraded security in the Marlborough college grounds so I assume someone else with high level personal protection has just started.

xsquared · 02/01/2020 21:07

Kingston isn't that far from Putney, especially on the train if I recall correctly.

I spotted John Hannah twice in different places. Once in Richmond and another time cycling in the Hampton Court area.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 02/01/2020 21:08

Philip Pullman?

Elderflower14 · 02/01/2020 21:09

I met Anthony Head with ds2 at Discover Dogs a few years ago.. He was super impressed that ds2 knew the sign language for vampire!!! 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣

I saw Anthony Head once, I spotted him and gave him a huge smile and maybe said hello as I thought I knew him! It wasn't until later that I realised he was famous/off the TV.

ScrimshawTheSecond · 02/01/2020 21:12

Oh, I see you found your man, sorry. Well, I have no idea who he, his dad, or really any of these people are....

Is it bedtime?

As you were!

BloggersBlog · 02/01/2020 21:13

HE HAS BEEN IDENTIFIED FOLKS!! NO MORE SUGGESTIONS NEEDED!

And if you read the thread you'll find out who Grin

catinb0oots · 02/01/2020 21:13

Don't know why but the third post of Robert Kilroy Silk made me lol. Does he even exist still???

Elderflower14 · 02/01/2020 21:15

Jean Christophe Novelli was a delight too... Signed a cookbook for ds2 and gave him an apron after judging our dBumbledog second in a dog show! Ds2 was meant to write and thank him for the cookbook and apron but ACTUALLY wrote to thank him for placing ddog 2nd.
JCN wrote back with a signed photo of him with his dogs... Assured ds2 he remembered him and sent two more aprons with instructions to give one to your lovely Mum!! ♥ ♥ ♥

DD and I saw Nick Clegg and family at a beach cafe in Dorset. We both agreed he looked like a bloke who looked a bit like Nick Clegg.

Deelish75 · 02/01/2020 21:29

I saw Robert Glenister in Sainsbury's choosing tomatoes.

ElspethFlashman · 02/01/2020 21:34

I saw an actress on Regents St the other week. In her 70s, steely gray hair, amazing cheekbones.

It's driving me nuts cos I know her face but not her name!

Basically she's been in a million dramas on the telly and is v v similar to Sheila Hancock but crucially is not actually Sheila Hancock!

It's been weeks and it's driving me mad.

Can anyone help?

(She looked bloody fantastic by the way)

ElspethFlashman · 02/01/2020 21:35

Oh and also dead posh.

Serin · 02/01/2020 21:41

Jack Whitehall sat behind me at "Mojo" and DD met Jenna Colman in the toilets at the same show.

LEELULUMPKIN · 02/01/2020 21:43

Simon Williams? Ooh I fancied him back in the day.

Arborea · 02/01/2020 21:49

@ElspethFlashman - could it have been Una Stubbs? Or Diana Riggs?

Angie6868 · 02/01/2020 21:55

Helen Mirren?

megletthesecond · 02/01/2020 21:59

I think it's rather cool you thought he looked like the legend that is John Curtis.

prisscalledwanda · 02/01/2020 22:09

Patricia hodge?
