Just done the first run. I walk everywhere but as soon as I run I'm out of breath. Found it quite hard going so taking heart from those saying r2 is easier!

sovielverloren · 07/01/2020 19:20

LiveRightNow definitely easier second time. Well done!

LiveRightNow · 07/01/2020 21:13

sovielverloren that's good to hear!

Just back from day 2. Hard work, but definitely easier than day 1. I think the change of scene helped too. Roll on Friday.

TheFoxAndTheMole · 08/01/2020 08:55

Joining!

Ciderandskatesdontmix · 08/01/2020 10:22

Tbf it was the first "bad" session that I've had. I've found it challenging so far, but last night was just too much. Not giving up though!

Macandcheeseplease · 08/01/2020 11:55

W1R2 just completed. I'm buzzing actually! What helped me today was a better playlist (some euphoric 90s dance tunes helped massively) and also I ran slower but walked faster so think that helped me! Good luck everyone!

PersilWhite · 08/01/2020 12:20

I think C25k is magical. I’ve done it 3 times now and when I start I never believe I’ll make the longer stretches but by the time I get there I’m always ready for it.
I’m overweight and sometime think I could walk faster than I run but I never stop.
If you’re looking for running clothes, there a great website for preloved clothes at really cheap prices.

Macandcheeseplease · 08/01/2020 12:36

@PersilWhite how come you've done it 3 times? Totally new to all of this so really interested to hear how other people have managed it all. Have you stopped running and then used it to start up again?

PersilWhite · 08/01/2020 16:16

Yes, exactly that.
The first time I did it leading up to Christmas and then didn’t run over the holidays and then didn’t run for ages.
Did it again in the Spring. Didn’t run much over the summer holidays and then stopped running.
Did it agin in the Autumn.
Obviously it’s easier each time and I find my stamina builds quickly but it’s just such a great programme and, as I said, almost magical.

frustratedashell · 08/01/2020 17:31

Done Week 1, run 3 today. Getting easier each time. Really getting into this

KatieRobin · 08/01/2020 20:37

@IsolaPribby that’s good to hear about the workout gear! I had some running tights / leggings from sports direct, but ended up taking them back as they were too see through! Hope it’s going well! I’m on week 8 now and love it!

TheFoxAndTheMole · 09/01/2020 13:29

Erm... anybody find that they couldn't run 60 seconds for the first stage? 😳 I'm starting from recovery from an illness with fatigue so a bit worried about making even that!

sovielverloren · 09/01/2020 13:37

Did w1r3 this morning! Definitely felt I could be stretched at this point, so here's to w2. Not sure if I will be up for it on Saturday as quite busy and am out Friday night, but we will see. Cannot quite believe myself.

sovielverloren · 09/01/2020 13:54

Thefoxandthemole I definitely worried about that, beforehand and during that first 60 seconds!!! And could not see how the 90 second walk would be enough time to recover. But that was the hardest bit in the first run, it really did get easier after that, strange as that sounds. Hope this is encouraging you to give it a go.

MrsHerculePoirot · 09/01/2020 14:00

I’d like to join please!

I did W1R1 this morning - was very proud of myself for even starting it! Aiming to do the second one on Saturday.

MelAndShoe · 09/01/2020 14:10

Just popping on to say I did this last year. And was on the thread this time last yr about it. One of the best things I have done. I did a 10k in the summer and now do parkrun most weekends and love it.

Totally reccomend going to parkrun before finish couch to 5k you can absolutely do it with walking .most of the way.

katzenellenbogen · 09/01/2020 14:13

Very encouraging to hear from people who have kept it up and now do it regularly. I hope that is what I will end up doing.

We are very lucky to live in the middle of nowhere so that helps. Not sure I would have tackled it when we lived in a big city

Ulysses · 09/01/2020 16:11

I did W2R1 and really struggled with the 2nd run and thought that I would need to give up! I did see it through though but was struggling with my breathing at points and needed the 2 minutes walking to recover before the next run. I'm hoping W2R2 is a bit easier. I was doing it the woods so it was quite hilly in parts. I'm able to go around the loch on Saturday and it's flatter there so fingers crossed.

IsolaPribby · 09/01/2020 16:34

Just done W1R2, and I think it was marginally easier than my first run, but I still feel like I have done a workout. What surprised me most was how pleased I was that the rain stopped this afternoon so I could do it as planned! I'm almost looking forward to Saturday morning now!

TheFoxAndTheMole · 09/01/2020 17:21

@sovielverloren thank you for the encouragement! I managed one run of 50 seconds Blush but in all fairness I'll take that. 3 months ago I was so ill that I struggled to walk to the end of the road and back, and I've never run unless I needed to! I'm very overweight, and VERY aware that many people go back into a fatigue phase if they push recovery too fast. Running for nearly a minute and okay my legs ache (part of the joys of glandular fever at the best of times) but I'm not knackered and feel okay about doing it again tomorrow, (or the day after if my legs are worse) is a complete win for me.

Plus my dog LOVED running with me, so she's a good motivational coach! Grin

APatchyTomCat · 09/01/2020 17:23

Session 2 for me tonight. Eek.

Ulysses · 09/01/2020 18:37

Just reading the comments and well done @thefoxandthemole!

myfuckingfreezer · 09/01/2020 20:17

I did week 2 run 2 today! Am going to vary my route on Saturday so I don't get bored and use that as an excuse to give up!

lotusbell · 09/01/2020 21:11

I want to do this, I'm going to do this! I hate running and I have big boobs and flab which will wobble! A couple of questions if anyone can help?
Where do you run? I have a large rec/park but it's not lit at night and is frequented at night but unsavouries. Where do people start? Do I just run round the block where I live?
Just had a quick look at the app where you can download each week and am wondering if the app tells you when to run then walk? Not sure if I can listen to the podcast and time myself at the same time.
