I'm still hanging in there Grin

I'm going to repeat WK5 again next week as I missed a run this week and really struggled on the WK5R2 again.

I'm not giving up!

sovielverloren · 15/02/2020 10:03

That's the spirit @beenrumbled! You CAN do it!

BreastOfIntentions · 15/02/2020 10:09

Came on here this morning to get my dose of motivation and boy did I find it! Congratulations to everyone for getting out there and doing it. I'm gearing up for W8 R1 and it's amazing how 28 minutes of running is not a scary prospect for me any more, rather trying to get a wee bit further than I did last time.

Good luck to everyone braving the outdoors today, the storm is whipping around outside as I drink my coffee. So glad to have a treadmill today!

I've just done my W6R3. I am soaked to the bone, boiling hot and bloody thrilled :) I love that Sarah said I am officially a runner now.

Weirdly, the first five minutes were the hardest, then I settled down, put on my favourite running song and just kept my pace. 2.7 miles today. :)

redavocado · 15/02/2020 12:03

@sovielverloren - yep, that's me! I started out mostly running from home but have swapped to lunchtimes alone the Thames and around Westminster. Feel free to PM! Grin

myfuckingfreezer · 15/02/2020 18:02

Well done everyone, great to see how well you're all doing.

I have been I it for a run since Tuesday due to a Friday morning hangover and the weather this weekend. Surprisingly gutted!

So I'm still on week 5 but I'm ok with that. Hear for the long haul! I'm going to centre parks in a couple of weeks and planning on going out every day since it's such a beautiful place to run!

myfuckingfreezer · 15/02/2020 18:02

Really should proof...

'Haven't been out since'

myfuckingfreezer · 15/02/2020 18:03

Also *here.

Jesus my typing is as bad as my running!

ringletsandtwiglets · 15/02/2020 18:30

@myfuckingfreezer, your name makes me laugh every time I see it. What’s wrong with your fucking freezer? Which Centre Parks are you going to? I went to Sherwood as a kid and it was so pretty!

Is anyone else seeing changes to their legs? I’m a big bird, so mostly just fat on my legs, but there seems to be some muscle shape appearing too.

Ulysses · 16/02/2020 15:06

Didn't manage to find the time for a run while in London, but am back home, skipped yesterday because I was so tired but back finishing week 6 on the treadmill at the gym this morning. The 25 minutes was fine and I see that's what week 7 is all about as well. I haven't really been monitoring my speed but will be interested to see if I can cover a bit more distance by the end of the week.

frustratedashell · 16/02/2020 19:14

Ran week 6 run 3 today after nothing since Tuesday. Life got in the way, then I did something to my back.

Went today (treadmill at gym) with the intention of doing as much as I could, whilst being careful of my back.
Anyway I did 5 min walk and 25 minutes run, so completed the run. Dead chuffed !
Ulysses, I'm at same stage as you. Wasnt sure if I could do it but I did.
Tried to do 1 lap round the local park on Thursday, where our local park run is. Was a disaster, it's quite hilly and I only managed 4 minutes! But I learnt that I was trying to be to ambitious and not to get down hearted.

CormoranStrike · 17/02/2020 11:59

W7r3 done - I feel amazing. I did my 25 minute run but felt fine so kept going to 30, had a five minute walk then ran another 10 minutes. Total covered today (including walks) 6.2 kilometres.

Anyone else running in my area? Fairly recognisable location if you are a Scot.

Love your pictures, @CormoranStrike :) That's some seriously impressive running too. You're an inspiration!

@frustratedashell, I love seeing you on our shared threads :) How is your back? WELL DONE on your 25 minute run. Isn't it amazing to get to the finish and realise you've done it? I ran the final 60 seconds with a huge, daft grin on my face.

I had a day off running yesterday, but walked for an hour to get my steps up, and managed to give myself a blister wearing stupid 'sports' socks instead of my usual ankle ones. Not sure if I can be bothered to run today... feeling a bit lazy. I might just clean the bathroom and dance around as I'm doing it. Grin

BreastOfIntentions · 17/02/2020 12:50

@CormoranStrike I go past the Kelpies every day on my way to work! I'm just up the road in Dunblane Smile

W8 R2 for me this evening! Can't believe how quickly it's gone in and how routine running for over 25 mins seems now. Not sure what app to get next!

frustratedashell · 17/02/2020 12:51

@ringletsandtwiglets, aw thanks. My back is 90% ok thanks. I have run the last bit with a daft grin on my face, but not yesterday. Was quite hard! I've got sports socks but dont wear them and not had any blisters. Daft isn't it? My next gym run is tomorrow. I'm curious to see how it feels in comparison to yesterdays , as it's the same run. My biggest issue is the boredom, there is a tv by the treadmill but I cant seem to concentrate on that and not falling off the treadmill at the same time lol

Riddleofthesands · 17/02/2020 12:58

Can I join in please. I am just putting on trainers for W6R2. Then I will read some of the thread. Can’t believe I am becoming a runner!

CormoranStrike · 17/02/2020 13:00

Welcome @RiddleoftheSands

CormoranStrike · 17/02/2020 13:01

Hello neighbour @BreastOfIntentions

frustratedashell · 17/02/2020 13:01

Hi riddle, welcome and well done

Florabella · 17/02/2020 13:53

Hi all. I felt much more positive for this morning's run (w7r1) and managed the 25 minutes comfortably. After then walking for one minute I decided I wanted to see how long it would take me to reach 5k so started running again. Covered 5k in 34 minutes and am pretty pleased with that. Feeling really motivated now and for the first time felt I might actually enjoy running!!

Riddleofthesands · 17/02/2020 16:20

Thanks for the welcome. My coach is Michael Johnson, I feel daft writing this but I honestly don’t think I could do it without him. Anyone else ridiculously fond of their coach or should I get some meds.

frustratedashell · 17/02/2020 16:45

That's good @Florabella! 34 minutes is great.

CormoranStrike · 17/02/2020 17:00

Yup @Riddleofthesands I really like mine too

Florabella · 17/02/2020 17:54

I agree. I don't feel I can abandon Jo Wiley now. Wouldn't feel right moving to someone else.

BreastOfIntentions · 18/02/2020 08:09

I'm loyal to Michael Johnson here! I tried out a few different people near the start but stuck with him once I heard his soothing voice.

Did W8 R2 despite feeling totally unmotivated for it, and unsurprisingly I felt great afterwards. My knees are a little stiff today though!
