Just back from W3R3 and really struggled. I was a fair bit slower (not that that is my goal) and I found it hard. I'm just starting my period so feel more tired than usual and everything feels just 'heavy'. Not sure whether to attempt W4R1 on Wednesday and see how I get on, or just repeat this week. Think I'll struggle with 5 minutes running Confused

beenrumbled · 27/01/2020 19:00

I'm just back from WK4 R1 - I really thought about just repeating WK3, but DH convinced me to give it a go.

I found it hard but not as hard as I expected. My breathing was ok, but again my calf muscle tightened.

On the first 5 minute section I thought I had nearly finished and Michael broke in to the music to say I was only half way through that run. I wasn't very happy!

I think it's fine to repeat weeks until you are ready to move on, and I'm sure I'll have to at some point, but sometimes it's lack of confidence that makes me think I can't do it.

We can do this!

lotusbell · 27/01/2020 20:16

@beenrumbled, thanks for that. Will see how I feel tomorrow, I need an early night anyway so am hoping I'll feel more positive in the morning. Think I'll give W4 a go on Wednesday and take it from there. Not bothered about repeating a week, my DS12 said I should until I feel I can move on, bless him.

W3R3 completed yesterday afternoon. Bit if a drudge in the wind and rain but done ✅

I think I’m going to take a little break for a few days now. I’m having some shockwave treatment on my foot tomorrow which mean I’m not supposed to be active on it, then I have pilates on Thursday.

Perhaps it’ll be nice to look forward to it.

CormoranStrike · 28/01/2020 11:21

No run for me today. It’s like a skating pond outside!

One inch of snow and a very hard ice on top.

mouldygrapes · 28/01/2020 17:57

W2R2 done - hated it. It’s freezing, my shins have started hurting, leggings keep falling down - but it’s done. Weirdly I found R1 this week easier but let’s see how it goes

onedayallthiswillbeyours · 28/01/2020 18:21

Hi everyone Smile. I've just found the thread! Just done WK3R2 and am in agony!!! The front of my thighs feel like they are burning/spasming. I've taken some ibuprofen and currently enjoying a hot bath whilst ordering yet another pair of running shoes to try Blush.

I'm 45, have never been a runner and about 3 stone overweight. First attempt at C25K and I really really want to succeed (have signed up for a 10K at the end of April as motivation) but am terrified my body just isn't up to it. I'm only running 2.5mins and my legs feel like they are going to drop off (breathing/lung-wise I'm not feeling too bad which is a positive at least). Dreading a 3 min run next week and also made the error of looking ahead to week 4 Shock.

snoozebird · 28/01/2020 19:03

Just found this too! I did W5R1 yesterday, which is 3x 5mins running.

I'm about 8 stone overweight, so my 'run' is more like a very slow jog, and I'm just going around the perimeter of the garden because I'm too embarrassed to run in full view of people, but I am able to keep going.

Tomorrow's run is meant to include 8 minutes. I'm really nervous about it! @beenrumbled, I hate it when the music goes quiet and you think you're finished, only to be told you're half-way, or there's a minute to go!

CormoranStrike · 28/01/2020 19:12

Well done to us all! I am four stone over weight and about to start week five.

I have been so impressed with this.

sovielverloren · 29/01/2020 07:39

@CormoranStrike snap! 4 stone overweight, starting W5 and so far so good. I think I must have been fitter than I thought (I do walk a lot) but I am not being complacent about the coming week. Nearly halfway through already though!

CormoranStrike · 29/01/2020 07:56

I am nowhere near fit but am very pleased that I am coping.

mouldygrapes · 29/01/2020 10:21

My shins are murder today - kind of inevitable with my stupid flat feet and probably poor running technique.
Any tips for shin splints please?

CormoranStrike · 29/01/2020 12:11

Did it today! Wk5r1 done - three five minutes runs, with no stopping.

Quite the ate up later this week. But bring it on!

CormoranStrike · 29/01/2020 12:11

*step up

redavocado · 29/01/2020 15:33

Welcome oneday!

Comoran, it definitely felt like a step up. I did w5, r2 again today and just about managed the second 8 minutes. I'm planning to do it at least one more time before I attempt the 20 mins.

CormoranStrike · 29/01/2020 19:40

Oh well done @redavocado

Whenwilligrowup · 29/01/2020 20:20

Can I join please? Did w2R1 today but I decided to run along a bumpy uneven river bank and it was hell! Will stick to pavements for now. Dreading the 3 minute runs next week!!

ItsNotAboutTheChocolate · 29/01/2020 21:38

Hello, am I too late to join ? I've just completed Wk 1 - a big achievement for meSmile! Would love to have the support of this group.

ringletsandtwiglets · 29/01/2020 22:46

The leap from two lots of 8 minutes to a full 20 mins is a bit steep! Has anyone done it yet?

beenrumbled · 30/01/2020 06:40

Welcome to everyone who has just found us!

We are all at different stages.Smile

I just did WK4R2 last night. Harder than R1 on Monday but I did it. Again it was tightness in my legs I struggled with rather than breathing.

I still need to get a sports bra. At this rate I will end up with black eyes and bruised knees. Grin

ItsNotAboutTheChocolate · 30/01/2020 07:07

So excited to have found you all, and reading your experiences with great interest.

If it helps - I developed sore knees after my first ever run. The advice on the C25k group was to allow for two rather than one running day between runs, and to get good running shoes.

onedayallthiswillbeyours · 30/01/2020 11:04

Rumbled yes it's my legs that are killing me too, upper thighs mainly but also my calves feel so tight even after lots of stretching. It's kind of ok whilst I'm running but when I go back to the walking bit it feels like all the muscles start shouting at once. I've started walking along shaking my legs out in front of me and must look very Monty Python-esque to any passers by 🤣.

Wk 3 R3 completed this morning and it was so much better than my run on Wed. I am a million times better running in the morning than doing it after a long day at work. Also stole my DD's trainers and there was a big improvement in my leg pain (although they still blummin hurt!). I also took some ibuprofen BEFORE my run today and I think that helped too Smile

Ulysses · 30/01/2020 17:56

I did W5R1 at lunchtime and probably should have slowed down a bit as I had a headache and a bright red face when I finished and I'm not feeling that brilliant for it 4 hours later.

I am looking forward to lighter mornings as I think that will suit me better.

Hello to the newcomers to the thread [waves]

frustratedashell · 30/01/2020 18:58

Back running today, wohoo! Not a specific week but just seeing what I could do. Last run was 12 days ago , was on week 3 so running for 3 minute slots. Today I did 6 minutes, absolutely chuffed with that!
Knees felt ok and felt like I could have done a little more but decided not to push my luck.
Able to afford some cheapish running shoes, so off shopping for those on Saturday.

Well done to everyone else

sovielverloren · 30/01/2020 20:16

Just did W5R1. It was fine, and I didn't need 3 mins to recover so I am encouraged! Realise that there is steep increase this week, but am going to trust them. Still the only run I really struggled with was the very first one when I didn't have any sense of how long a minute was and I didn't trust Sarah to tell me. She's never failed me so I am now in her hands!
