Famous people in public/Rihanna at Winter wonderland

I saw a story on SM about Rihanna being at Winter wonderland yesterday incognito.

A few of the comments on the article mentioned how they’d seen famous people in shops before, one mentioned Princess Diana in Kensington M&S. So this thread has probably been done a lot before, but I just wondered if you’d seen any famous people in public, better still if you’ve spoken to them.

I’ve not got any particularly great stories myself, we met Princess Anne back when I was at secondary school and I saw 5 after midnight a TGI Fridays in Leicester Square once but that it!

Ian Hislop at Waterloo Station. He was unexpectedly tiny.
Tony Robinson sat right next to me in a hotel lounge, asked if the seat was free. I didn't notice who he was til we left and my friend hissed "Baldrick sat next to you!!"
My friend saw Amanda Abingdon at the theatre as we were going to the loo but I didn't see her either. I must be quite unobservant!

I saw Jessica Ennis in Accessorize Birmingham shopping with her friend.

She was really lovely about being interrupted and wrote an autograph for my 2 children.

Such A shame. Not such AS shame.

And Billy Mitchell actor came in where I worked once.

Met Andy Peters when I was a teenager somewhere in Birmingham Town Centre.

Bumped trolleys with Bob who presents Central News in Tescos Five Ways.

Was in a lift in New Street Train Station with Sunetra Sarker who acts in casualty. She spoke to my kids and seemed nice.

Was with my daughter in Bull Ring Shopping centre and spotted Alison Hammond. Watched a lady ask her for an autograph. She told her to fuck off!

Met Denise Lewis out and about shopping in Wolverhampton Mander Centre.

White Dee from Benefits street was in my local branch of Barclays one day in the queue.

Regularly saw Fungi from Benefits Street too about. Nice guy he was. Sadly passed now.

James Nesbit walked into the restaurant I was having having dinner in with my husband in Leamington Spa. It was really late so they'd closed the kitchens and he and his friends got turned away. I sat a few tables away from Jason Isaacs at the Starbucks in Queen's Park. Saw Simon Pegg at the Natural History Museum and walked inches from Prince Charles and his entourage outside a theatre in London (can't remember which one sorry!)

Ewan McGregor at a cashpoint in Belsize Park. Dr Legge on the tube (!), Mel C at Runcorn station, Will Young in Soho, that Neil bloke off ‘coast’ and Kate Adie, both in St Ives (not together).

I knew there was more and the JLC reference has just reminded me. Went to see Wicked on it's second night in Bristol. Andy Day (he of the many adventures) was in the queue in the Box Office in front of me as we waited to collect our tickets. I did manage to get a selfie, he was extremely tall and lovely.
We sat front row, central of the Royal Circle. Andy and his fiancée Kat were in the row behind on the end, and two rows directly behind us was Justin Lee Collins. He was sat with his son.

Also saw Cuba Gooding Jr on the street as I walked into my hotel in NYC.

Sitting in the car at Watford Gap Service station when a bloke I recognised walked across the front. I smiled and he winked at me.
It was then I realised it was Paul McCartney. Exh came back to car and went over to chat with him. I was mortified. Exh brought him to the car and I panicked and said "Don't look at me. I've got holes in my tights" 😂

I sat next to Hugh Laurie on a flight from Australia. I didn't recognise him and wouldn't have noticed except the cabin manager came and introduced herself to him. Spent most of the flight trying to work out who he was.

I was struggling to get DD’s prank out of a cafe door in London when she was tiny and a lovely Australian bloke jumped up from a table and helped. I said thank you and walked about 10 paces down the road before thinking ‘shit that was Jason Donovan wasn’t it?!?’
My mother also managed to tell Jude Law and his kids that I was in labour - she sat next to him on the train on the way down to us, not entirely sure how it came out in conversation but there you go....

Served Rory McGrath in a hotel bar in Carlisle summer 2000 while he was filming a tv programme there, the bloke could drink, vodka and lemonade with every pint, god knows how he was up to filming the next day
England were playing Romania in the European Chamionships, he asked me what the team was and I said “oh the same as the Germany game on Saturday...”
30 seconds later the commentary comes from the tv in the bar “... so three changes to the England team from the Germany game ...”
He glared at me silently from across the room while an 18 year old me cowered behind the bar and went back to polishing glasses

Neil Kinnock at Tesco Culverhouse Cross Cardiff. I walked towards him thinking “ I know you from somewhere “ and smiled, he smiled in return.
Saw Una Stubbs at Cardiff train station, she is very small.

I was sat in my my kitchen when George Lazenby poked his head through the window asked me if i had an axe.

Bill Wyman in the BullRing, Birmingham. Talked to him, he declined to sign an autograph. I was about 12yo. Only had a McDonald’s bag for him to sign and he said he was vegetarian.

Imran Kahn on the train to Leeds once. Again I was young and went up and spoke to him.....actually I think i plopped myself down opposite him. Got 2 autographs and he told me he’d just decided to retire from cricket which was a scoop as he was in the Evening Standard that day saying he hadn’t decided....he signed the article and a guns and roses poster!

I frequently see well known people due to my childrens' schools - more in line with journalists, presenters, and politicians and a few proper international slebs. Won't name names because I don't think it is appropriate.

Randomly, due to living in London I see celebrities, but the memorable times were Gwen Stefani at a soft play area (her son was playing with mine), sharing a table with David Schwimmer at Carluccios, DH sitting next to Mick Jagger on a plane and accidentally spilling his water on him.

Richard Curtis and wife Emma Freud and David Morrissey all at Walberswick a few summers ago....I live in Norfolk so go there a lot.
