Famous people in public/Rihanna at Winter wonderland

I saw a story on SM about Rihanna being at Winter wonderland yesterday incognito.

A few of the comments on the article mentioned how they’d seen famous people in shops before, one mentioned Princess Diana in Kensington M&S. So this thread has probably been done a lot before, but I just wondered if you’d seen any famous people in public, better still if you’ve spoken to them.

I’ve not got any particularly great stories myself, we met Princess Anne back when I was at secondary school and I saw 5 after midnight a TGI Fridays in Leicester Square once but that it!

Seen several famous footballers in Manchester over the years. DS passed Jesse Lingard on the escalators in the Arndale last week.
Sat next to Ricky Hatton at a Man City match too years ago.

EscapeTheCastle · 23/12/2019 16:52

lol, Martin Pubes!

Latest spot for me was Benedict Cumberbatch in a gallery. Too tall for me to have a good look though.

We were on the same flight to st Lucia as Amy Winehouse and her husband one time. We were sitting on the tarmac for ages after boarding and it was announced that we were waiting on the final few passengers to board. After a while they got on, amd headed straight upstairs. They had been in the bar drinking, not even caring that the flight was waiting to leave Grin

StarlingsInSummer · 23/12/2019 17:08

Christopher Eccleston in Manchester Waterstones... a couple of times actually!

GoneFishingAgain · 23/12/2019 17:11

Frankie Boyle in a soft play in Glasgow west end.

MincePiesGetInMyBelly · 23/12/2019 18:08

I served Princess Diana's sister in a very unassuming local pizza express. She was absolutely lovely and so down to earth.

Schmoozer · 23/12/2019 18:12

Mark Owen out dog walking
Joanna lumley I sold a Filofax in Ryman’s as a Saturday girl 👧

OhMsBeliever · 23/12/2019 18:15

Ralph Fiennes walking across Tower Bridge a few years ago. It took me a while to figure out who he was.

David Walliams on Brighton Pier. It was years ago before he wrote his kids books so my kids looked blankly at me when I told them I'd spotted him.

Hugh Dennis in London. Just as I'd joked to my kids to keep an eye out for any famous people he walked right past us! Grin

Glittercandle · 23/12/2019 18:19

I walked passed Ed Milliband leaving a subway station in New York - thought he was a school dad until the rest of my family mentioned it was Ed.

I’ve also seen Charlie Brooker and family in Chessington theme park.

I’m quite bad at noticing famous people but DH has a keen eye and is good at pointing them out to me.

Hoppinggreen · 23/12/2019 18:20

Being vague as all my friends know about this so it would be outing
A few weeks ago we were in a cafe having breakfast in a Northern city.
I said to DH “ that poor bloke over there looks just like Nigel Farage”
It was!

halocompanach · 23/12/2019 18:23

@VeryMerryChristmas Bob Geldof was at the next table with the guy that is the father of his daughter that died.

Huh? Bob Geldof is the father of Peaches Geldof. Tiger Lily is the one that isn't his biological daughter.

onyourway · 23/12/2019 18:25

Literally bumped into Louis Theroux outside the theatre last Monday. We were both on the phone. I sort of waved, mixture of 'sorry I bumped into you' and 'hello, I know you, don't I?'Smile

HundredMilesAnHour · 23/12/2019 18:29

I live in central London so see lots of famous people wandering around or on the tube or at various restaurants/bars/theatres or in the gym but everyone studiously ignores them.

Years ago my (now) ex and I saw The Spice Girls and David Beckham at Prague airport. Turns out they were on the same flight to London as us (except they were all in Club and we were in Economy of course). A few weeks later, the ex and I were having dinner at The Ivy and Victoria Beckham was sitting a few tables away from us. Ex says "ooh, do you think she recognises me?" Blush Yeah, sure. My lip reading skills tell me that she's just said to her friend "OMG that's the bloke I saw at Prague airport". Duh! This is just one of many reasons why he's an ex.

VeryMerryChristmas · 23/12/2019 18:32

@halocompanach

Bob was with Peaches’ partner/father of her children. Sorry, I couldn’t remember his name.

pallisers · 23/12/2019 18:39

DH helped Eva Mendes to the milk in the first class lounge in Heathrow. Even prettier in real life apparently. He also sat next to Martin Freeman on a flight.

EssentialHummus · 23/12/2019 18:44

I used to work next to City Hall and would see Boris Johnson frequently - "Oh, here he is trying to ride a Penny Farthing"; "There he is with a Bengali dance troupe" etc.

Colin Firth, in circumstances that I can't really talk about but which were very entertaining at the time Grin.

DH literally walked into Gwyneth Paltrow when he was distracted on his phone one day in Marylebone.

Lipperfromchipper · 23/12/2019 18:49

I sat across from Cliff Richard on a flight to Barbados once....and waited at the carousel for our luggage at the same time too.

Stood beside Liam Neeson at a news agents

Waited in the airport lounge next to Keith Duffy (boyzone)

WhichBin · 23/12/2019 18:50

I used to work at a busy services on the motorway which was always a stop off for the northern celebs who need a quick meal and piss on the way back from London.

I served:

Frank Bruno
Chris Evans plus his wife / baby at the time
Most of the Coronation Street and Hollyoaks cast when there was were TV awards on.
Vernon Kay

All very normal and pleasant.

pariiiiis · 23/12/2019 18:53

"I served Princess Diana's sister in a very unassuming local pizza express"

Not Woking? The plot thickens 🤔

I see Tyson Fury most mornings on his morning run and get my hair cut at the same place as his wife Paris (she's in there a lot)!

Ds goes to school with daughter of darts player Dave Chisnall so see him most days.

Saw Kevin Webster at the Trafford centre.

Dickie Bird kicking off at the airport because he couldn't take through his 150ml moisturiser (it cost bloody 20 quid that did)

I seem to have a sports theme (apart from Kev)

VeryLittleOwl · 23/12/2019 18:57

Over various HMV counters in Cambridge and London:

Germaine Greer
Stephen Hawking
Alan Rickman
Sally Phillips

Also quite literally walked into Rory Bremner in Soho, he was very nice about it.

DecemberSnow · 23/12/2019 18:59

Martin Clunes

Boris Johnson

Prince Harry

Lots and lots of football players

FrenchyQ · 23/12/2019 19:00
