Famous people in public/Rihanna at Winter wonderland

I saw a story on SM about Rihanna being at Winter wonderland yesterday incognito.

A few of the comments on the article mentioned how they’d seen famous people in shops before, one mentioned Princess Diana in Kensington M&S. So this thread has probably been done a lot before, but I just wondered if you’d seen any famous people in public, better still if you’ve spoken to them.

I’ve not got any particularly great stories myself, we met Princess Anne back when I was at secondary school and I saw 5 after midnight a TGI Fridays in Leicester Square once but that it!

Donna summer bought perfume from me in Cambridge boots (long ago).

Paddy Ashdown was very nice about DD aged 1 on a plane.

I saw Dominic West at the height of The Wire fame in M&S on Christmas Eve.

Dumbledore was in Waitrose the other day (Michael Gambon)

treepee · 23/12/2019 19:06

I've seen/met loads through work. Most unexpected was Brin from G&S in a little French village.

SleepingIsOverrated · 23/12/2019 19:10

I saw Jennifer Ellison at Cadbury world. I was a few steps behind her all day and kept looking to see if it was actually her... I was a big brookside fan when I was growing up and was so impressed that I might be experiencing the chocolate factory with the one and only Emily Shadwick. My husband.... not so much Hmm

Jason Orange at Baker Street tube
Noel Gallagher on tube.
Used to live next door but one to Ralph Fiennes.
Jane Garvey lives round the corner and my eldest was in the same class as hers at primary.
Dominic West at the gym
Michael Gambon's kids played with mine at the park
Bill Bailey lives on my road.
Loads of made in Chelsea people in various places in my area.
Tom Parker Bowles helped me carry my buggy up stairs on the tube.
Louis Theroux cycling down my road.
Timothy Spall on the way to the BBC building
Michael Gove as above
Rafe Spall sitting with mates outside a pub near me.
Lead singer from scouting for girls outside a pub on my road
Timothy Dalton in Sainsbury's. He smiled at my baby and said she was beautiful.
Dermot O'Leary in another Sainsbury's talking loudly and looking around hoping to be noticed.
At a party with Pearl Lowe.

Probs more but can't think of them at the minute.

Tony Hadley on Blackfriars Bridge Millenium Eve. Woohoo. He said "hi".

CatintheFireplace · 23/12/2019 19:31

Hugh Grant and Jo Brand having breakfast together at the Regency (greasy spoon type cafe) in Notting Hill.

highheelsandweathercocks · 23/12/2019 19:49

@pariiiiis I know where you live as Tyson Fury lives round the corner from my Dad and he sees him out for a run all the time.

Robert Lindsay parked in the space next to us at Reading services. We arrived and departed the services at the time.

Literally bumped into Chris Evans (the ginger one not Captain America) in Chinatown once. We rounded a corner and each of us were looking back at our respective friends and collided. He's tall!

Used to see famous people on Wimbledon Common all the time. Frank Bruno and all the women from Birds of a Feather were the most frequent ones.

Used to live in Borehamwood (home of Elstree Studios) so always saw the cast of EastEnders. The original Vicky was the older sister of a girl in my class at school (who was actually called Vicky).

Sid Owen around Bath. Once on the street and once in a club where he hogged the bar and thought he was all that.

@highheelsandweathercocks lovely place to live (and for a morning run by the sea if you're that way inclined I'm not!)

PosiePie · 23/12/2019 22:22

Served Andrew Lancel (Neil Manson from the Bill) in a train station newsagents, did the whole mental "I know him" thing, but as I'd been in the town about a week I couldn't fathom how. Was a big fan of The Bill back in the day and it dawned on me a couple of hours later who he was.

Sarah Lancashire - she was lovely.

IndigoApple · 23/12/2019 22:37

Lewis Capaldi with his parents in Livingston Debenhams earlier this year.

Neil Oliver at Waverley Station more than once!

Puzzledandpissedoff · 23/12/2019 23:05

Shared a lift in Fortnums with Roger Moore - I was only a teenager at the time, but my late mum never forgot it

Steven Spielberg once chatted cameras with my ex in a California hotel. Great, except ex didn't realise who he was and had to be told afterwards!!

AuntSpiker · 23/12/2019 23:17

Rory McGrath ditto
Clive James in a rugby club

EpcotForever · 23/12/2019 23:21

My best friend at school lived next door to Melinda Messenger, so I've been in her house a few times.
Tommy fury at Gatwick in September.
Orlando Bloom's parents live nearby and he accompanies his mum to Waitrose when he visits.
Joanna page, also Waitrose.
Steph - Phillip Schofields wife is lovely.
George Michael owned a house in the village I used to live in and could often be found in the local pub.
Carole Middleton, George, Charlotte and Louis at the local farm. With a team of security obviously.
Lots live in my area, but I never seem to notice.

EskiVodkaCranberry · 23/12/2019 23:24

Nerrsner I saw nick knowles in Sainsbury's being a great dad while making sure everyone knew he was a great dad Grin

Egghead68 · 23/12/2019 23:34

Willy Rushton in a lift in the Barbican Centre.

David Baddiel, Frank Skinner and Bill Oddie in the street near Hampstead Heath.

Richard Osman at Cambridge railway station and in the street.

Clive James (RIP) in the street in Cambridge.

Egghead68 · 23/12/2019 23:36

1980s not 1080s.

Ian Hislop on Westminster Bridge. I smiled at him and he looked away.

Egghead68 · 23/12/2019 23:38

Bob Geldof in Gatwick Airport - very tall.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 23/12/2019 23:41

Gonch from Grange Hill, Richard Jobson from Skids, Jeremy Paxman. I lived in Notting Hill Gate for a while.

RaymondReddingtonMrs · 23/12/2019 23:44

I was in nyc in a taxi as a hoard of photographers stopped the car from being able to move, I looked around and Sarah Jessica Parker walked past the taxi. She was filming for the first movie, I jumped out and followed the crowd and she joined the other three girls on 5th Avenue for the scene when they're walking down it. That was good fun!

Also seen;
Nadine coyle and Jesse metcalf in a cinema queue
James cordon in the crowd with his partner at a Justin lee Collins show!

NuffingChora · 23/12/2019 23:45

Big (Chris Noth) on Waverley Bridge in Edinburgh. JK Rowling outside Harvey Nichols. Jeremy Paxman on the phone on Princes Street. Jamie Cullum in Teviot.

Egghead68 · 23/12/2019 23:45

hoopdaloo · 23/12/2019 23:53

I've seen Mr Weasley (Sorry, his real name
Escapes me...) at a train station a few times.

Also, Kelly Jones from stereophonics enjoying a family trip at the seaside. Then again, the following day, wheeling suitcases up the road. Grin
