She's closed down her Twitter account apparently, saying the Tories won the election because of racism and mysogeny.

She's in denial, so far removed from ordinary life that she hasn't a clue how most ordinary people think. Nothing to do with racism. We had decided we wanted to leave Europe and resented being told we were stupid, uneducated, ill informed etc etc. Every attempt to get the deal approved was thwarted by a Parliament who thought they knew better than we did. And Corbyn is much too far left for most people.

Silly Lily needs to go back to what she does best - singing - and stop trying to interfere in things she doesn't understand.

I mean racist hate crime has increased dramatically since Brexit and the Tories being in, the prime minister is an out and out racist.

So you're allowed an opinion but she's not?

I don't happen to agree with her, I think the left need to try and understand and address the reasons why people are so dissatisfied with Corbyn and so anti EU rather than dismiss it as ignorance and racism.., but I understand why people (including lily alen ) are upset - and don't see why she should be forced to quietly remain on Twitter because she doesn't agree with you.

Funny how Boris voted AGAINST a deal that the Conservative party brought back from Europe.

As did many other Tory MPs. Something not mentioned much in the election campaign.

But hey. it's going to happen, so we might as well get used to it. He can own it and I hope people get what they want from it.

I wish she would just shut up and go away, preferably move to another country.

I thought her cover of the Keane song unexpectedly turned a mediocre song into a great song. It’s rare that happens. Could’ve been any female vocalist that recorded it, but it was Lily and it worked.

Anyway, lots of people spouting forth at the moment. Everyone has an opinion.

Not every leave voter is racist, but every racist voted leave.

Lots of my friends and me have expressed our devastation and frustration at the election result. People are angry and upset. Hers is just being highlighted because she's famous.

Rationally I know there are reasons for the result, I've read enough about it. But I feel angry and hurt, and as if people don't care about the vulnerable. She's entitled to feel that too.

@pictish I love Keane and she ruined that song for me. I dislike her for that alone. Why could John Lewis not have used the original version instead of her boring droning voice?

I hope she's okay. She has never struck me as the most mentally robust person and for a lot of people the election result will have been very upsetting. It's understandable if they want to let off steam, but probably wiser of LA to have closed her twitter account before it all got very nasty.

EVERYONE should have an opinion. That's how debates happen.

The problem comes when nobody has an opinion, everyone follows the masses and then shrugs and pretends it's not their problem when it all goes wrong.

She's as entitled to put forth her opinion as anyone else.

I find Lily Allen hard work, to be honest, but all she is guilty of is using Twitter - a platform for people to endlessly spout off their opinions - to give her opinion.

And now she has closed her account.

Not sure what her crime is?

Are you a politician OP? Do you think only politicians have a right to talk about politics?

I am not a Lily Allen fan, but she has a right to her political opinion, just like everyone else.

And "we" did not all decide we want to leave Europe. Don't lump me in with "we."
