How busy was your polling station?

I had to queue at the polling station this morning. That has never happened before. It was at about 07.45, it was raining and I'd have said it's a safe Tory seat where people might think their vote doesn't count.

Anybody else seeing signs of high/low turnout?

I was the only person there at 2pm. They said it had been really quiet which is surprising as as we are a key seat. It could go either way.

Sherrybabyy · 12/12/2019 18:36

When I went around 5:30, it was empty

TheHobbitMum · 12/12/2019 18:36

There were 3 including me just me, I hope I missed the rush!

It was dead 💀

I live in a hamlet and our polling station covers 2 hamlets and a few farms. 162 registered to vote, roughly 20 postal votes so 140ish to vote in person. When I went at 3pm they’d had about 50. I have no idea how that compares to other elections though.
I have never seen another person in there voting at the same time though at any election. A queue would be remarkable!

KittenVsXmastree · 12/12/2019 18:42

I've been past our station 3 times today (well, 6 times but in pairs very close together).
Small queue on my way back from school at 9am. Nothing at 3.30 or 4.30.

My postal vote went in at the start of the week. I very much doubt there was a queue inside nursery, but there could have been.

Letsnotargue · 12/12/2019 18:43

Ours is in the local pub so it’s hard to tell who is there to vote and who is there for dinner/a drink. The women at the table were discussing which road was going to be first to be completed when everyone in the road had voted, so that’s positive.

ForalltheSaints · 12/12/2019 18:44

At my polling station roads from A to M form one queue, N to W the other. More of a queue on my side (N upwards) than the other- someone said they hoped it didn't mean a move to the right!

No dog outside though.

RockinHippy · 12/12/2019 18:45

Very small & young queue, but we went early & it was torrential out there

RedLipstickHighHeels · 12/12/2019 18:46

Mobbed first thing inc a loud braying parent announcing their school kid this is democracy and grandstanding
Queued
Maybe it was the prework rush

MrsJBaptiste · 12/12/2019 18:46

I was the only one there at 7.45 this morning.

Skyejuly · 12/12/2019 18:47

Empty at 8am. 100% safe tory seat.

LittenKitten · 12/12/2019 18:49

Nobody in at the same time as me but I’ve seen people going in and out during school runs.

MyNewBearTotoro · 12/12/2019 18:49

I went at about 10am. Seemed busy with cars outside the polling station and saw a few people walking in the area but actually there was no-one else there to vote when I got there but a man came in as I left. I’m not sure how busy it usually is as I’ve only voted there once before and can’t really remember what it was like.

AlexaShutUp · 12/12/2019 18:50

No queues but a steady flow of people.

Have heard that the nearby university polling station had massive queues, so I'm hoping that the students have been out voting en masse!

raisinseverywhere · 12/12/2019 18:56

Empty at 3pm. Safe Tory seat.

Keepmewarm · 12/12/2019 18:58

Just me at 18:30. I’ve never seen another person there whenever I vote.

Bythepath · 12/12/2019 19:09

i live in a Tory super safe seat but still saw 3 other people when I went (usuay see none). I work in a marginal and the were using part of the building as a polling station, both labour and tory activists were outside and there was a steady stream of voters.

Witchend · 12/12/2019 19:11

Busy compared to normal. Very safe seat here. However another party is being optimistic!
It's filthy weather too.

fairynick · 12/12/2019 19:13

Mine was absolutely dead. I live in a Tory safe seat in one of the richest constituencies in the UK. But there’s a little council estate in the corner or the constituency with our polling station in the middle. I imagine most people on our estate have given up and don’t bother.

Gertie75 · 12/12/2019 19:16

I went at 1, Dm went at 3 then dh at 6, there were 3 or 4 people in each time whereas usually you don't see a soul.

YouJustDoYou · 12/12/2019 19:18

Fine. I voted 11am though when most are at work.

AdalindMeisner · 12/12/2019 19:18

I got there and there were a coupke of people in there. But the number of cars pulling away when I arrived was massive (it is on a dead end street with just a few bungalows down there) The street is normally very quiet. I haven't been at that time before but even on ref day it wasnt this busy. We are a string labour seat so hoping this is still the case (tories closed the gap a little last time and we were a close split at ref time).

LBOCS2 · 12/12/2019 19:20

A steady stream at ours when I voted at about 6.45. Safe Tory seat - but we've moved so our polling station is different and I don't know if that's normal for around here!

HandsOffMyRights · 12/12/2019 19:23

Much busier compared to usual at 7pm.
