Brrrrr, my house is freezing! What temp is yours at?

We live in an old and lovely, but cold, house. Even with the heating on it's pretty hard to heat some of the larger rooms. It's not helped by very thin singled glazed windows and no insulation.

My bedroom is 13.2 degrees. That's after an hour of heating this evening. We get ice on the inside of the windows, with the heating on.

Can anyone amuse me my telling me how beautifully warm your houses are? Or sympathise by telling me how cold yours is?

According to Alexa my lounge is 18.6 degrees. I think the thermostat is set to about 21. I don't think it ever gets much warmer even though it's a small terraced house which apparently means it's easy to heat.

I'm sitting in my lounge atm - the thermostat says it is 17°c, it should get up to about 20°c soonish.
I've got a mini duvet and the dog on me - my feet are cold and I really need to go and find my slippers.
The kitchen & conservatory will be colder, conservatory floor says about 13°c.

Thermostat is set to 21 degrees. Ours is a Victorian detached, we’ve had new timber double glazing put in and renewed our front door. It is loads less draughty now, thank the Lord. I would be shivering in a bedroom of 13 degrees. Best to get into bed with an electric blanket and hot chocolate I think!

Bedrooms are round about 17/18 as we basically have no heating on in there as they get heated from below. Downstairs is about 20. We have a thermostat so the heating just comes on and off to
maintain at whatever temp we set. We are in a fairly new house though so it's quick to heat and doesn't lose temp.

When I was pregnant though I was boiling all the time and had my windows open all through winter. My bedroom then was 14 degrees and I was still roasting!

13°. Like you we live in an old draughty house with no double glazing and floorboards that let the cold in. I cannot wait until our new inset multifuel burner goes in next week, our open fire has been condemned so we cannot use it and that really helps to keep the whole place warm.

Thermostat is set to 20. It’s in the living room so it’s nice and toasty in here but colder elsewhere in the house. I think we should have put it in one of the colder rooms.

I'm quite mean with the heating as I work from home so it's a steady 16 - 18 and I live in layers. My electric and gas bill is about £10 a week.

My daughter has a heated blanket which she loves, worth considering.

My lounge is 21.8 and it comes on if it goes below 21.5. I have hive on my phone so boost as well when I feel cold.

All different in different rooms of our (tiny) house 😂 The log burner is on so the living room is about 19, bedrooms are probably 15 or 16 (the burner powers radiators in those rooms), but the kitchen is probably a warming (not) 12. We’re experts in layering in this house. I genuinely laugh when people moan about their partners setting the thermostat at 18 and stuff like that!

Just come in from work and it's 12 degrees, I've put my heating on and it will be 16-17 degrees in an hour or so which is comfortably warm for me. My bedroom was 12 degrees this morning - I was warm and cosy in bed but getting showered and dressed was a tad nippy!

I was just complaining to dh that ours was only thirteen this morning.

Dunno but I’ve got a fever so my bed feels like the Caribbean right now. The cat thinks it’s amazing and is heavily invested in me remaining ill as long as possible.

Temperature in the livingroom is 21 degrees. Heating comes on and off throughout the day. Heating was on overnight at the weekend. Our house is quick to heat up thankfully.
I hate to feel cold.

@Lovemenorca I am undoubtedly happier here in the summer.

It is beautiful though, and I read somewhere that being cold burns off more fat than being warm. Sadly this hasn't yet had much noticeable impact.

Kids room is at 15.8 so not too bad, and will warm up a bit more before bedtime

Ours is 20 in the evening and 14-15 in the day if I'm just using the central heating. It's well insulated but we live in Maine so it would cost a fortune to heat it up more than that.

We do also burn logs as supplemental heat - makes a huge difference, and as they're from our garden it's free.

I work from home and I often wrap a fluffy blanket around myself to stay warm.

Our house was 13C the day we moved in, after a snowy weekend, with the heating not working.

Working, now, obviously. Thermostat at 21 for the evening, but it never gets there, if it's cold out most of the house is about 18-19 but the room I'm in has a crappy little radiator in the bay window and a bit of damp around the chimney breast that mending the chimney didn't clear up so is lagging behind at 17.

No idea, no thermostat. Our living room is warm-ish, but the kitchen is cold, despite being south-facing, as we don't ever put the radiator on in there. The butter is always rock-hard in winter. Front porch is cold enough to keep food cool, we keep drinks out there in the winter & they're always icy cold. DH & DD are warm people, so I just layer up. A lot!

My livingroom is currently at 24 so that I can get my bathroom to 18. Our thermostat is movable but the living room rad has no temp control on it. Going to see after xmas if I can get thel radiator temp controller moved from bathroom to livingroom (apparently you have to have one radiator without a temp adjuster on?)

I put ours on this morning at about 17, as it got colder I have put it up to 20, and then 25.

We have a couple of really hot rooms and the rest are varying degrees of warm, hall is cold due to having a steel security door, heating engineers buggered off without balancing the rads when they serviced it.

Old house. Thermostat set to 19. Kitchen was 13 most of the day. Went up to 14.5!!!!
Currently in 4 layers.
Will take hot water bottle to bed again tonight.
