Royal death announcements are timed so they go into the morning newspapers I believe.

All the more reason for them to announce now and not at 9.30am then!

Which would be pretty outdated given the 24-hours new cycle and the decline in print media, but also would rule out a 9.30 announcement.

When she does die, every media source in the world will announce it immediately . They won't put it on social media and Mumsnet but neglect to tell anyone else .

In my line of work, I would have been told within minutes. Not a peep.

I'm not a royalist by any stretch of the imagination and I haven't heard from anywhere else but I have to say it did sadden me a little when I read this.

I guess it's inevitable and as for any family it's horrible to lose a loved one however it's also a huge part of British history and I guess it's sad to think it may be the end of an era... Even though my non-royalist self really doesn't think that the Windsor's have really had any impact on my life whatsoever. Very strange.

Just seen a ridiculous post on FB. A photo of a WhatsApp message sent to someone in HM Forces about this.

Several things wrong with it. They're being told to report to xyz place tomorrow morning at whatever am because queen has died. The military would only tell personnel to report to xyz place and give no reason why (Only those with an absolute need to know why would be told why....super high up people not even all officers would be privy ronsuch info at this stage). Our forces are paid to follow orders and not ask why. 2nd thing is they have been asked to report at such a time AM. Again out forces work on a 24hr clock and never use am and pm.

So my unofficial opinion is some dick is having a very dull Sunday and making up a load of bollocks for kicks!

Nah. She'll be around a while longer, I have a feeling. They announced the Queen Mum almost straight away (I remember the service interruption while we were watching and that my dad thought the country had been attacked- it was fairly soon after 9/11, IIRC).

Could you imagine the country being plunged into mourning in this state?
