I hope it’s not true with everything that’s going on with Prince Andrew. Anyone else heard this?

Who is spreading these rumours?

sonicshoegazes · 01/12/2019 22:13

Why is the 'old boys' group photo of a dog looking at a cock?! Random🤮

Celebelly · 01/12/2019 22:13

When I worked with access to sensitive info like that, it was very much a need-to-know basis with the smallest amount of people possible informed so it's easier to trace back any leaks. People who are high-ranking enough to be told immediately are not people who will then be flapping their gums to their mates. There is emergency planning in place to deal with events of this nature, and a strict protocol will be followed in terms of informing relevant people. Not WhatsApping people with 'Hey the queen's dead, pack yer stuff.' And anyone who shared that information with external parties would most likely lose their jobs and possibly be charged if doing so breached the official secrets act and caused issues with national security.

I felt really sad when I saw this. Not sure why as I am not a royalist. Just she’s been part of everything for so long. I hope it’s not true. I met her twice. Once when my dad received an imperial service award and once at the garden party. Out of all the royals there is something lovely about her. I don’t look forward to the day Charles takes the throne

chomalungma · 01/12/2019 22:14

She is going to die sometime. She is 93 after all.

I expect we will know when she does die - social media can't hide many facts.

The reaction in the UK and across the world will be like nothing we've probably seen before.

WhoWants2Know · 01/12/2019 22:14

I'm almost a little impressed at how far the originator of the screenshot managed to surreptitiously circulate a penis avatar by using a false report of the queen's death.

NonUrinatInVentum · 01/12/2019 22:15

Doesn't she die a few times a year?! I'd fake my own death to escape spending time with Trump Grin

SheOfManyNames · 01/12/2019 22:15

What kind of jobs do people have where they are informed right away
Prime minister/Cabinet type jobs
Head of the Commonwealth of Nations
Prince or Princess of the United Kingdom
High up media mongols
Military chiefs (maybe?)
the Queens private staff
Dunno who else!

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/12/2019 22:16

Military Top Brass
High ranking civil servants

All of whom spend countless hours on Mumsnet . . .

Royal death announcements are timed so they go into the morning newspapers I believe.

Just because George V’s death was hastened by a speedball administered by his doctor, to ensure the news made the morning papers IN 1936, that doesn’t mean it’s standard protocol for all monarch deaths.

We live in very different times now.

Here’s the “London Bridge Is Down” article. It’s quite fascinating.

Outsomnia · 01/12/2019 22:18

I hope she is not browsing on MN!

Must be awful to be still alive and kicking, riding your horses, and so on, but have your death being speculated upon regularly.

It will happen one day. The QM was a mad drinker apparently, and lived to 100+.

I want to be the QM!

SheOfManyNames · 01/12/2019 22:18

It's patently not true anyway. More's the pity.
Well, isn't that nice.
You don't have to like the RF as an institution, but she's still a human with a family.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/12/2019 22:20

I hope she is not browsing on MN!

So do I!

She's got a chance to have spat out her Guinness all over her laptop!

Natsel84 · 01/12/2019 22:21

If it was true , I wouldn't be watching im a celeb .
There is a protocol when the queen dies and most tv programs we wont be able to watch

dingit · 01/12/2019 22:21

Very sad if it is actually true.
Some of the comments on Twitter are quite witty, particularly the one that says she can't be dead as she was seen in pizza express with Prince Andrew Grin

motortroll · 01/12/2019 22:22

My daughter told me. I laughed at her!

TheFaerieQueene · 01/12/2019 22:23

The credulous are out and about tonight.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 01/12/2019 22:23

I'm not a royalist, but I have a lot of respect for HRH. She works hard and has been a symbol of the UK for many years now.

I dread her even retiring. I hope she lives as long as her mother (whom I didn't like BTW) - but I wouldn't blame her if she retired and put her feet up for a few years.

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 01/12/2019 22:24

I must be unusually hard-hearted then, as I read it and thought "I couldn't give a witch's tit".

It's patently not true anyway. More's the pity

You are.

No, but I have heard rumours that Madge will step down from public duties in 18 months and Charles will act as Regent.
.......
I'd be very surprised if she did.

It's quite right that she gives Charles a lot more responsibilities, he will have her job sooner or later but I do not see the Queen actually giving up the crown.

Span1elsRock · 01/12/2019 22:25

I love the notion that people would break the official secrets act and send a whatsapp to their mates to share on Twitter.

A friend’s husband is in the army and he has heard there’s arrangements being made.
