According to the YouGov poll.

I'm astounded - I thought it'd be hung again.

What do you think has caused this? Confidence in Boris or a lack of in Corbyn?

OP posts:
littlejalapeno · 28/11/2019 16:39

The Tory media machine has manipulated and poisoned people against labour to hold on to power. Breaks my heart.

CendrillonSings · 28/11/2019 16:41

That’s a pretty terrifying list of economic destruction. And for once Bertrand can’t complain about a lack of specific detail concerning Labour’s manifesto commitments!

pallasathena · 28/11/2019 16:48

YouGov is a Tory funded/managed organisation.

BertieDrapper · 28/11/2019 17:08

Ok, so I've read the above posts.

And as someone who is not particular a fan of either party... which isn't something new but this election, it seems like the stakes are sooooo high.

I don't like Boris. I don't want the NHS sold off or for the poor/ill to suffer any more cuts!

JC doesn't fill me with confidence not to mention the antisemitism, the taxes and spending spree. His new employer laws could have a massive affect on our ability to keep a roof over our head in the future, the same for many others!

I have one Lib Dem, one Indi and one made up party on my ticket.

But is it even worth voting for anyone else?

My OH just a keeps saying we can't vote for JC and I see a lot of people say that JC as leader is a terrifying thought..... but so is BOJO surely??

MilkTrayLimeBarrel · 28/11/2019 17:15

Hooray! Will still be keeping my fingers crossed though.

Sakura7 · 28/11/2019 17:26

Boris is utterly reckless and his party has veered alarmingly to the right. The so called strong and stable Tories have created the mess the country is in now.

If you can't face voting Labour, vote for the best of the rest, even if they don't have much chance. These votes will help the argument for proportional representation in the future.

I would also argue that a Labour majority is extremely unlikely, but a Labour minority govt or a Labour led coalition is a realistic prospect. In that situation, Labour wouldn't have carte blanche to get all of their policies through, they would have to work with other parties (not to mention the more centrist wing of their own party).

fedup21 · 28/11/2019 18:16

He can do what he wants with his vote, but there’s no ‘we’ about it! Your vote is yours, surely?!

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/11/2019 19:48

Now, how true this is. I don’t know, but.
If you don’t vote your vote goes to the party who already in. There’s no such thing as a non voter. Like I say “i don’t know how true it is.”

BertieDrapper · 28/11/2019 19:53

Yes, of course. I think he means the royal "we"
He knows I will do as I please he just likes to think we are on the same page.

Venger · 28/11/2019 19:53

If you don't vote, you don't vote. No vote is counted for you, it is not automatically assigned to the party who is already in, it's just lost.

longwayoff · 28/11/2019 19:54

Grim, a win designed by Dominic Cummings, who seems to be a Frankenstein combination of Margaret Thatcher and Blackadder. Hoping its wrong.

Venger · 28/11/2019 19:54

I wouldnt put too much stock in the opinion polls at this stage, there's still time for lots to change.

Hopefully hackers and/or a whistleblower will get their hands on that report into Russian meddling Wink

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 20:05

“ Now, how true this is. I don’t know, but.

This is not true- it really isn’t.

TulipsTulipsTulips · 28/11/2019 20:13

Why are people voting conservative? Because labour have committed to saddling our children with the highest levels of peacetime debt in history. All the economic forecasters say that labour’s proposed tax rises for companies and high earners would not cover labour’s overspending. I believe that most people want a sensible and affordable social democracy, but labour goes too far. They will cripple this country snd create unemployment and suffering for millions. That means insufficient tax revenue to pay for all the promises, more interest to pay on national debt, and ultimately future hardship for our children because the country will be broke. Hardly anyone really likes Boris, but as an alternative the conservatives are economically a much safer option. The public know this.

raskolnikova · 28/11/2019 20:19

@MeanMrMustardSeed Okay, fine. You weren't tricked, you have your own mind. You looked at the evidence and decided that you genuinely believe in Brexit.

Frankly, I think that's even worse, but okay.

Can I just say. The Tories will not privatise the NHS. It would be suicide and result in riots bigger than the poll tax.

The USA will repeatedly ask for it, that is what you do in negotiations (I do contract negotiations all the time)

However, I’m not against reforming the nhs to a European model or having some payment or penalties. It cannot go on providing (or failing to provide) everything to everyone free.

Deathgrip · 28/11/2019 20:38

Can I just say. The Tories will not privatise the NHS. It would be suicide and result in riots bigger than the poll tax.

This is beyond naive given the moves already made to privatise the NHS by stealth. The tories know they can get away with creeping privatisation and increase of already accepted costs. You think there’ll be riots if they agree to remove laws which enable us to access generic versions of American drugs? Based on these threads alone, a significant number of people don’t know what that means. Then come the price hikes, then comes the funding being swallowed up by drugs, then comes people saying “the NHS is not fit for purpose” and actually being relieved when large chunks are privatised.

Gruzinkerbell1 · 28/11/2019 20:40

Corbyn.

Hopefully he’ll be forced out after this.

CactusAndCacti · 28/11/2019 20:41

Tulips I really don't think the conservatives are economically a safer bet. They are as bad as each other.

ACautionaryTale · 28/11/2019 20:41

Privatise is not bad as long as it’s a European style system.

Privatise American

SilverySurfer · 28/11/2019 20:42

Sounds like good new to me - hope it stays at that level.

Tory voters will stay home thinking it's a done deal

In your dreams maybe.

Sakura7 · 28/11/2019 20:42

Because labour have committed to saddling our children with the highest levels of peacetime debt in history.

You can't actually be serious here. The young people who are lucky enough to be able to buy a house now are saddled with massive debt, many more multiples of their salaries compared with the previous generation. Not to mention huge levels of student debt. The ladder has been pulled up and the only party that is going to attempt to address that imbalance is Labour.

JenniferM1989 · 28/11/2019 20:42

They can't be accurate at all. They base those polls on asking a handful of people. No one has asked me who I'll be voting for. Has anyone asked you?
