According to the YouGov poll.

I'm astounded - I thought it'd be hung again.

What do you think has caused this? Confidence in Boris or a lack of in Corbyn?

Hopefully the investment into tuition fees will then prevent the rise of younger working poor populations. Because they can afford university without worrying about the debt.

MarshaBradyo · 28/11/2019 13:52

If they do get a majority where May didn’t I wonder what the main factor for that would be

Brexit dragging on perhaps

crustycrab · 28/11/2019 13:58

@Mistlewoeandwhine 30 years if you are looking at the same predictions I am.

My entire town is predicted to be underwater by 2050

RuffleCrow · 28/11/2019 14:05

Time for Labour to ditch Corbyn = silver lining. This may be the wakeup call they need. Keir Starmer for next Labour leader.

They have lots of great policies - just need to get rid of all the anti-semites and misogynists and they'll have my vote. I wish i could vote for them but my conscience won't let me as things stand.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 14:07

What do I think has caused it?
Dirty tricks.

dontalltalkatonce · 28/11/2019 14:09

Well, voting Tory so we crash out of the EU and everyone but the rich gets even more fucked over will lead to more support for Scotland breaking away.

CendrillonSings · 28/11/2019 14:13

What do I think has caused it?
Dirty tricks.

Well, either that or Labour’s winning combination of economic illiteracy, antisemitism, and far-left lunacy...

MaddieElla · 28/11/2019 14:19

How long would it take Labour to implement the tuition fees promise? I can only find 2017 manifesto promises.

EngTech · 28/11/2019 14:22

If Boris does Get in, can I still have a 4 day week and free broadband ? 😂

Bloodybridget · 28/11/2019 14:31

It's "a shoo in", not a shoe in!
Yes, I know, more serious things to worry about, and I am worried, believe me. Agree with everyone who says if Labour had a decent leader things would be different.

BoogleMcGroogle · 28/11/2019 15:24

okayokay1 absolutely. If Ed hadn't decided to further his career at the expense of his wholly capable brother ( not to mention the entire nation), we'd had a lovely centre left Labour government by now and none of this Brexit shitstorm would have happened. We do indeed get the governments and pitiful opposition we deserve. It's fucking depressing.

Corbyn supporters among you- you do realise he's made Labour unelectable? However much you love him, what's the point of loving the leader of a never ending opposition? My fear is that the momentumistas will maintain their hold, and Labour will be done for.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 15:28

I say dirty tricks because anything other than a hung parliament is not otherwise feasible considering the showing of both parties.

OkayOkay1 · 28/11/2019 15:36

It's "a shoo in", not a shoe in!

Admittedly I also didn’t know this until now Grin

TryingToBeBold · 28/11/2019 15:40

@MaddieElla I'm not sure of the timescales.

TryingToBeBold · 28/11/2019 15:41

@maddieella it is in the 2019 manifesto but timescales are not.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 15:43

“Corbyn supporters among you- you do realise he's made Labour unelectable?”

You’re not, as many do, conflating Corbyn supporter and Labour supporter are you?

CendrillonSings · 28/11/2019 16:01

You’re not, as many do, conflating Corbyn supporter and Labour supporter are you?

You’re not one of those people who doesn’t understand that if Labour wins the election, Corbyn will become PM and lead the government, are you?

Whattodoabout · 28/11/2019 16:10

Yeah but remain was going to win as well according to polls, I don’t believe them.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 16:17

“ You’re not one of those people who doesn’t understand that if Labour wins the election, Corbyn will become PM and lead the government, are you?”

You make my point. Corbyn is not my choice of leader, but Labour is my choice of governing party. This is a position some find hard to understand.

Thedonkeyhouse · 28/11/2019 16:20

I think this is a very unlikely outcome. I suspect we'll have a result not unlike the previous election.

For this result to occur, lots of people would have had to have changed their minds about who to vote for - and I've seen no real evidence that has happened on a significant scale.

Tillymintsmama · 28/11/2019 16:24

who the actual fuck would vote Tory??? Surely no one in the UK doesn't think this country is going to the dogs as we speak???

ACautionaryTale · 28/11/2019 16:25

I actually read the labour manifesto today.

In the unlikely event I was going to vote for them before, I sure as hell won’t now.

BertrandRussell · 28/11/2019 16:26

“In the unlikely event I was going to vote for them before, I sure as hell won’t now.“

What scared you?

CactusAndCacti · 28/11/2019 16:30

I can't understand how some that are yelling about JC being an IRA sympathiser are also calling for no deal Brexit (a.k.a get it over with) with all the potential ramifications for Northern Ireland.

Also with the anti-Semitism, I am sure a lot until now had little concern for Jewish people but now it is an issue, yet will accept Islamophobia.

People are weird.

ACautionaryTale · 28/11/2019 16:36

Entrprenaurs relief scrapped and all capital gains to be be taxed at marginal rate (currently 20% after the allowance) - no incentive for small businesses to try to grow

Dividends to be taxed at marginal rate (which means after they've been taxed at 26% corporation tax they then get taxed again for the recipient meaning they actually get taxed at 66% or worse)

Corporation tax rising from 19% to 21% and 26% if turnover (note not profit) is over £300,000 - you could make a profit of £1000 and still pay 26% tax

Income tax rising to 50% if you happen to earn over £80K - which is onlu slightly above the MP's salary so they are ok

Married persons allowance scrapped - so a £250 tax rise for the poorest since to qualify you have to be a basic rate tax payer and the spouse has to be earning less than the personal allowance

200% second home tax even if accidentally inheriting or having to move and trying to sell

10% of uk based companies share capital to be "owned" by the government who wil then pay some back to the workers - let watch all international companies remove their head quarters from the UK the day after election

Full employment rights from day one - so no chance to get rid early of people who don't perform - which is going to put companies off actually hiring people in the first place or just using temps.

Collective bargaining to be introduced across all sectors - removes the incentive to work harder for better pay or better negotiation

Maternity leave to be increased and flexible working to become a right - thats women having less chance of decent employment then as I for one would not hire one

Government policy to eradicate gender pay gap - the reason for it is because women IN GENERAL tend not to do the higher paid jobs because they don't like the hours, stress, committment or travel and are more family orientated. Women get paid the same for doing the same jobs.

Keeping sunday restrictions on trading - so we're still stuck in the 19th century

Ending two child cap - so basically reverting to paying people to have children whether they can afford it or not

Finding the magic money tree for WASPI women who if they read the news should have known about the pension changes - not anyone's fault if they didnt educate themselves

REnt controls and open ended contracts for renters - so how do you manage to evict the problem tenant? Pushes the balance too far into the hands of the renter and will actually reduce the supply of reasonably affordable rentals.

A Labour government will repeal the Fixed-term Parliaments Act 2011, which has stifled democracy and propped up weak governments. - this is hyocritical when they relied on it to STOP a general election for several months

Brexit - another year of uncertainty before we even start on trade deals.
