...what their favourite Christmas present was, that they received as a child?
I asked mine this evening after reading a couple of threads from people who are struggling with Christmas.
Dd1 27 said her most favourite presents was mousetrap.
Dd2 22 said her favourite gift was a nail dryer shaped like a dog.
Neither of these were expensive and they actually can't remember most of their "main gifts".
So I was just wondering what was your child's favourite gift?

My fave present was a Barbie house. It had a balcony/roof terrace and no stairs. I can remember thinking it was ludicrous, but I loved it nonetheless.

But that came from Father Christmas so my lovely mum doesn’t get credit for it Wink

carrots555 · 26/11/2019 20:24

My friend had Mousetrap and Screwball Scramble!
I used to love going round to play at her house...

DS is only 14 but my favourite present was probably my cassette recorder. Not just playing music but hours of fun making my own 'shows' and secretly recording dad snoring.

danni0509 · 26/11/2019 20:28

@JoannaObrien blast from the past. Loved mine!

ShagMeRiggins · 26/11/2019 20:30

Biggest mistake we ever made re Christmas was letting Santa and grandparents give the best gifts. Zero credit to us. Grin

Every year without fail our DC would tell everyone about the selection box they got, no matter what else they got, the selection box was always top of the list. In a similar vein, one summer we went to the zoo, (at considerable expense as we don't live anywhere near one). We saw some fabulous animals but what did DD rave about? A cat that she saw in pets corner. She was thrilled by it, no idea why, we have our own cat at home!

I was pony mad. All I ever wanted was horse and pony stuff.

My least favourite present was a Cindy? or Barbie caravan. ( I fucking hated dolls and was polite enough to pretend to be pleased, but inside I was wondering if my parents even knew me at all....)

My most favourite presents were riding boots...riding hat...and a julip toy horse.

FabLaura · 26/11/2019 20:43

Anything to do with Barbie for me.

SexlessBoulderBelly · 26/11/2019 20:47

The year I brought my house I was moving out in the February when it was all completed.

For Christmas I asked for ‘houses bits’ and my mum made me a huge hamper full of cleaning items that would clean anything and everything from head to toe. We’re talking dusters, gloves, dust pan and brush, micro fibre clothes, sponges of every description, flash, mr muscle, oven cleaner, limescale products, stain remover, antibacterial wipes, just absolutely everything all packed into a plastic cleaning caddy.

It was honestly the most well thought out and useful thing I’ve ever gotten. It beaten all the jewellery, clothes, sweets and chocolate I’ve had in years before. I couldn’t wait to get in and start scrubbing ready to make it mine 🙈

hauntedvagina · 26/11/2019 20:48

The My Little Pony castle was epic, I spent many a day lifting Spike up and down in the little basket.

I also remember getting a toy bank, it was in a case that folded out with a window in the front (you could also get a post office and a travel agents I think).

I also got a Cricket doll one year, a truly terrifying creation that was!!

JeSuisPrest · 26/11/2019 20:51

Anything where I could role play - a little post office set with scales and stamps/envelopes, a cashier's till with plastic money and an ink pad and date stamp for playing libraries. Happy days.

ParkheadParadise · 26/11/2019 20:51

Connect 4
My mum had 6 of us. I can remember the year I got connect 4 as it was my main present. We all got a game, monopoly, operation, ker plunk, cluedo, snakes n ladders.
As the youngest I ended up with all the games when my siblings grew out of them.

Butterfly02 · 26/11/2019 20:52

Mine were some fisher price roller skates. My grandma always gave me a Terry's chocolate orange and a satsuma I miss that now.

Elmer83 · 26/11/2019 20:53

Roller boots
Lights Alive
Super Nintendo (still got it and it works!! Will be knocking on 30 years soon!)

Waxonwaxoff0 · 26/11/2019 20:53

Mine (and this is actually the only one I remember) was a giant stuffed dog teddy. I loved it.

ohmysoul · 26/11/2019 20:56

Mine was a fairy princess dress that my Grandma made for me. I wore it almost constantly until it didn't fit any more. I genuinely cannot remember any other presents.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 26/11/2019 20:58

hauntedvagina I had the post office and one of my siblings had the bank. Hours of fun!

Lego was my favourite. Always Lego. Anyone else have any Oh! Penny?

commanderdalgliesh · 26/11/2019 20:59

This guy - wow they're expensive now!

@JoannaObrien snap! Same style and everything

Oakmaiden · 26/11/2019 21:01

Min was a stationary set I got when I was about 8. It had a notebook, and a writing pad, envelopes, a pencil, a pen, rubber, sharpener and I think a small ruler, all laid out in a big box. I think it was Mr Men themed.

It was the big box that did it.
