'Boring' plain food that's actually really good

Doing the supermarket shop the other week, saw a huge display of cornflakes and immediately really fancied some. Have really been enjoying them as a snack (not filling enough for breakfast!) with creamy oat milk.

Plain bread and butter can also be delicious. Must be salted butter though.

What other really 'boring' foods can you not get enough of?

A bowl of plain white rice. Yum.

I love white rice with a tin of tuna and mushy peas

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 14/11/2019 19:53

And toast and dripping is the best.

Banana on toast is very nice too. As are sliced tomatoes on crisp bread.

My dads omelettes. He makes perfect cheese ones that fluff up so much they are like a soufflé
Pasta with cold butter
Cheese on toast
Hard boiled eggs with salt

Toast with butter. I only have spread here, so when I taste real butter it’s a delicious shock to my tastebuds.

There’s a cafe near me that does doorstop toast with an obscene amount of butter. It works out at £2 a slice which is ridiculous but so so tasty.

Shockers · 14/11/2019 20:28

Soft boiled eggs with salt and pepper and toast soldiers.

Spaghetti with olive oil and garlic.

Homemade soup.

Piece of crusty bread warmed in the microwave with butter melted on it ...

Yum

Crackers with golden syrup on them. It's delicious and really hits the right note for something sweet and small after dinner!

GreigLaidlawsbarofsoap · 14/11/2019 23:23

I agree with all the carb n butter posts!

Tinned peaches with custard.

Jelly and ice cream

DisgraceToTheYChromosome · 15/11/2019 03:31

Bacon and egg sandwiches, where the egg is split so it spreads out into a thin crispy sheet. The bacon is cooked really slowly, so all the fat goes towards frying the egg.

Cheesestrings123 · 15/11/2019 15:03

Porridge with a spoon of honey and peanut butter

Salt and vinegar rice cakes. Addictive!!

Weetabix in hot milk

WooMaWang · 15/11/2019 15:07

DS2 would happily eat a large bowl of rice on its own. He'd have one with every single meal if he could.

1984isnow · 15/11/2019 15:10

Chips and cheese. Sometimes with beans (cheese, beans then more cheese on top🤤)

I will continue to question why I'm not losing weight, when I'm being so healthy
