'Boring' plain food that's actually really good

Doing the supermarket shop the other week, saw a huge display of cornflakes and immediately really fancied some. Have really been enjoying them as a snack (not filling enough for breakfast!) with creamy oat milk.

Plain bread and butter can also be delicious. Must be salted butter though.

What other really 'boring' foods can you not get enough of?

Beans on toast. The most underrated meal ever.

Toasted bagel with cream cheese

Crisp sandwich

Cheesy beans on toast

Cauliflower cheese and crusty bread to dip in the cheesy sauce

Heinz tomato soup with white buttered bread

Rice pudding!

Porridge.

Hot buttered toast with bovril. Mmmmmm.

Jacket potato with beans and cheese.

Perfect easy winter comfort food.

Sausage and bacon toasties.

Porridge and jam

Fish finger sandwich with ketchup, salt, and vinegar.

Ooh. Is it too late to have another dinner..?

Ride and mayonnaise, especially if the rice is cooked with a little chicken stock.

Sausage and mash
Egg n chips
Toasted white bread and marmalade

Almond butter with sliced banana on toast

Not sure I can allow that one. Delicious, yes absolutely. Boring? I think almond butter is still a bit too new and hipster to be considered boring!

I love plain rice from those microwave pouches with a bit of soy sauce.

Yy to jelly! Got into that in the summer when I had gestational diabetes. Red jelly with a layer of double cream on top. Yum.

And yes a perfectly cooked jacket potato needs nothing more than some salt, pepper and a fuckton of butter

Rich tea biscuits - the least exciting biscuit but still delicious

Stew. It's perfect food.

Marmite toast
Fried egg sarnie
Fresh bread toasted with salted butter
Tiger bread and salted butter😍

Sourdough toast, slathered in salted butter, toasted to pale golden brown, no burnt bits please

Plain pasta with olive oil, salt and lemon juice. Perfect comfort food.
