I actually earned quite a lot in my early 20s I had a tax free PhD stipend of £17000 and I worked bloody hard holding down two part time retail jobs as well. Probably earned about 30000 in total with all.

I then went up the ladder through university and am now on just shy of 60k 31y.

First job in 1998, 6.5k for full time. No idea how I lived on that but I did, and I was not living with my parents either! Now I am self employed earning around 45k.

Doormat247 · 12/11/2019 19:18

Early to mid 20s - £11k - £15k civil servant.

Mid 30s - £30k same job different role (several promotions later). But this will half soon once I have my baby and go part time.

Will never have another wage rise sadly as I doubt I can get any higher.

nowlook · 12/11/2019 19:21

22- Law Society Minimum (13k I think)
24- 30k (went straight in-house on qualification)
40- 225k plus nice things like bonuses and shares (general counsel)

I've been very, very lucky and DH always did the childcare as a SAHD.

Never, ever felt so rich as when I moved from 13k to 30k though.
