But where did the tampon go?

FFS.

I know I put a tampon in last night (I have a shit memory so leave the wrapping visible) yet this morning the tampon does not seem to be there Hmm As far as I can see, there are two scenarios.

  1. It fell out when I went to the toilet - this presents me with the saddening fact that I have finally grown a wizard's sleeve
  1. It has somehow been hoovered up somewhere beyond the reach of my (admittedly very small) fingers - this presents me with the alarming fact my vagina has better suction than my Henry hoover and I should do something about my lounge floor.

I usually use a mooncup to prevent this sort of thing but couldn't find it last night (don't worry it's not up there as well, it's somewhere in the bathroom Smile)

DH isn't here and I really do not want to see my GP as I see her regularly about something else.

I'd really like to know which scenario is more likely wise MNers and if it is there somewhere, how the fuck do I get it?

PS I'm not a troll, and have NCed (to avoid a is that you UCM scenario Wink)

It’s entirely possibly your cervix has moved upwards whilst you were asleep and it’s gone further than you can reach. Definitely get DH to see if can get it. If it had fallen out wouldn’t their be blood in your bed?

crimsonlake · 03/11/2019 10:21

What a dilemma, I agree if it has fallen out surely there would be blood on your sheets. Try lying on your back, raise your bottom on a pillow and have a good old rummage.

Beautiful3 · 03/11/2019 10:22

Agree with a bath and a feel. If not, book in to see the nurse.

Don't assume if you're still bleeding that it's not up there.

I once forgot to take a tampon out and put another one and left that one for the rest of my period without realising. When me and dp next had sex he found it .

SoupDragon · 03/11/2019 10:25

Not if it fell out when the OP was on the toilet. If the tampon is heavy it can happen.

bobstersmum · 03/11/2019 10:26

did you put it in the right hole are you suggesting she mistakenly put a tampon up her bum?

AntiHop · 03/11/2019 10:27

You might have put it in backwards so the string is at the top. This happened to me once. Dp had to take it out. And we were staying at his parents house at the time. Blush

JenniferM1989 · 03/11/2019 10:27

You'll soon know if it's still in there because you'll not get any blood on your knickers or very minimal if it is or you'll get watery type stuff on your knickers due to the tampon being full and leaking. If you're getting normal blood on your knickers, it's out

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 10:27

Gah. I did wonder if I'd taken it out in the night and don't remember but there is nothing in the bin.

I'm still bleeding, I did have a wee first thing half asleep and I have had lots of children Grinso I'm leaning towards the theory it has slipped out I can't have a bath til later so I'll try that but I've really had a good rummage.

I do do my pelvic floor exercises at traffic lights (great MN tip from years ago) so I really don't think I have a wizard's sleeve I think the tampon just must have been very heavy.

This will teach me to abandon my mooncup. I (and those other MN threads Grin) must be a salutary lesson to others.

I need DH. He really does have very long fingers.

But where did the tampon go?

You don't have to see the doctor, how about see a nurse?

itsgettingweird · 03/11/2019 10:32

I once felt very odd when I had a difficult to pass bowel movement a few days after my period ended.

Out came a tampon. (From my vaj I may add Grin)

I'd been bleeding and somehow forgotten it was there Confused I wear pads as well so obviously just thought i didn't have one in.

It's clearly possible for them to go a long way north on an exposition without you knowing!

Dommina · 03/11/2019 10:34

Could you sit in front of a mirror? Use a 'marital aid' very slowly and see whether it bumps in to anything?

Failing that, DH and/or doctors.

SoupDragon · 03/11/2019 10:34

This is not correct at all. Once it's full the blood will leak past it

Chichz · 03/11/2019 10:35

The comment about the head torch really made me laugh too, because my DH has just bought a head torch! Grin

If your period is really heavy, I wonder if you could still be bleeding because the original tampon is saturated?

I would be tempted to keep rummaging! Like the idea of a bath too - get your legs up on the side, smear test position!

Good luck. X

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 10:36

The nurse would be much better, although i would have to justify myself to the receptionist and I know I'll get the fucking horrible one not the nice one. Bloody Nora.

I don't think it could be in backwards because I usually give the string a little tug to make sure it's there. It's definitely not in the wrong hole Grin

"Marital aid" Grin DH is my marital aid and I worry poking anything else in there anyway would only push it further up to another dimension

This thread is making me laugh though at least. I wonder if I could strap a head torch to my hand in front of the mirror.

Ok I’ve said this before on one of these threads but the pouch of Douglas tampon thing is a weird mumsnet myth. The pouch of Douglas, aka the recto-uterine pouch, is part of the abdominal cavity, not the vagina. If the tampon is in there something has gone VERY wrong! I’ve attached a diagram for reference. Where is could be is the posterior fornix of the cervix (ie wedged up the side there).

If you can’t find it OP and you can’t bear to get your husband to try I would go to urgent care/OOH/whatever is open in your area and see if the nurse can have a little look. Good luck!

But where did the tampon go?
SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 03/11/2019 10:44

A simpler diagram

But where did the tampon go?
HelloGeeniee · 03/11/2019 10:46

My tampons fall out occasionally in the toilet but I always notice Confused good luck

Gruzinkerbell1 · 03/11/2019 10:47

This thread is really making me snigger.

Good luck OP, hope you find it soon!

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 10:52

I feel ridiculous! I need to get someone home so I can have a bath. I'm assuming just putting the shower hose up there won't help the problem...

Pouch of Douglas ? Well every day is a school day on MN Shock

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 10:58

If anyone wants any more terrible mental images from this thread, I once read on MN about sootikins. Google at your own peril.
