But where did the tampon go?

FFS.

I know I put a tampon in last night (I have a shit memory so leave the wrapping visible) yet this morning the tampon does not seem to be there Hmm As far as I can see, there are two scenarios.

  1. It fell out when I went to the toilet - this presents me with the saddening fact that I have finally grown a wizard's sleeve
  1. It has somehow been hoovered up somewhere beyond the reach of my (admittedly very small) fingers - this presents me with the alarming fact my vagina has better suction than my Henry hoover and I should do something about my lounge floor.

I usually use a mooncup to prevent this sort of thing but couldn't find it last night (don't worry it's not up there as well, it's somewhere in the bathroom Smile)

DH isn't here and I really do not want to see my GP as I see her regularly about something else.

I'd really like to know which scenario is more likely wise MNers and if it is there somewhere, how the fuck do I get it?

PS I'm not a troll, and have NCed (to avoid a is that you UCM scenario Wink)

Have you had a good rummage around for it?

experimentnumber626 · 03/11/2019 09:46

You need to bear down lots, please work at getting it out because TSS.

BornInAThunderstorm · 03/11/2019 09:47

Did you put it in the correct hole?

Have you tried having a bath and sort of using your fingers to get as much water in there as possible and then when you get out, squat and bear down hard while reaching in as far as you can? The water makes it heavier so might slip down far enough for you to reach it.

AfterSchoolWorry · 03/11/2019 09:48

The vaults.

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 09:49

Yes I've rummaged, squatted and tried to give birth to it but nada. Fucking hell. Do you think it could have fallen out?

I have tiny hands which might be half the problem.

Orlandointhewilderness · 03/11/2019 09:49

Oh dear OP! I'm afraid you really do need to get it out. Lots of bearing down after a hot bath. If you can't get it then off to the docs you trot.

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 09:51

A bath, I haven't tried that. I can try and suck the water up.

I cannot bear the thought of this hanging over every future conversation I have with my lovely doctor

How heavy is your period? More likely to have dropped out if it was saturated and therefore weighed more!

SoupDragon · 03/11/2019 09:53

When is your DH back and does he have a head torch?

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 03/11/2019 09:54

Pouch of Douglas.

Seriously. Google it.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 03/11/2019 09:55

I've never heard of a tampon falling out and if it hasn't happened to you previously, I'd guess it's still in...

Someone once posted with this problem and said they'd got a friend to get it out for them in the end - the idea of that made me cringe so much I vowed to remember it if it happened to me and I didn't want to visit my GP Grin

At least your doctor is a lovely lady. Mine is a quite stoic older man. I think I'd die.

Good luck getting it out!

TheVaginaVortex · 03/11/2019 09:55

My periods are heavy so it would have been heavy and I'm really hoping it fell out.

No head torch but DH does have hands like Nosferatu. I could see the doctor before I see him though.

A friend?!!? Fucking hell. Out of my two closest friends, one lives 300 miles and away and the other is a man, so that would be a very big ask Grin

WeeDangerousSpike · 03/11/2019 09:59

does he have a head torch? Halloween Grin

I know it's horribly embarrassing OP, but I think you need a trip to the doctor. Or minor injuries / walk in centre seeing as it's the weekend if you have one local? Not sure leaving it in for over 24hrs is a safe thing to do.

Fuckenstein · 03/11/2019 10:02

If it had fallen out and your period is heavy wouldn't there be a blood bath on the bed sheets?

I would try the bath trick and then pop to your local walk in centre, or ask for an appointment with a different doctor within your practice.

Good luck!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 03/11/2019 10:03

In fact if you google "Pouch of Douglas tampon" a few of the first hits are mumsnet threads!

Thread and another thread - they're a funny read!

rainbowconfetti · 03/11/2019 10:03

Doctor wouldn't bat an eyelid at this tbh. Not uncommon.

TenThousandSpoons · 03/11/2019 10:10

Could you have taken it out and forgotten? Thinking middle of the night/early morning wee.

GaaaaarlicBread · 03/11/2019 10:12

Are you bleeding this morn or is there a hopeful sign that it’s up there still plugging the blood ? 🤨
My friend lost hers once and got one of our friends to get it out as I found it too funny 😂😂 not read the other replies but I’d deffo try and squat, cough, sometimes the vagina can curve and it’s more sideways than you think

If not can you go to walk in centre to avoid seeing usual gp???

MulticolourMophead · 03/11/2019 10:14

Is there a nurse at your doctor's? It would be the nurses at our practice who would be my first port of call for something like this.

FairyBatman · 03/11/2019 10:16

They can fall out when you pee of your period is heavy. If you’re bleeding that’s probably it, it not bleeding Ii’d assume it’s stuck and it’s off to the walk in centre.

At least with t being Halloween you could wear a mask! 🎃

Fizzypoo · 03/11/2019 10:16

Bath and a rummage. Try and have a poo after the bath you might be able to get it out.

I do not have a wizard's sleeve but tampons have been known to slip out my vag when it's been heavy and I've had a wee. I think I'd rather my dp try and find it rather than a dr.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 03/11/2019 10:17

When is your DH back and does he have a head torch?

This made me laugh almost as much as the original idea of asking a friend to "have a rummage" GrinGrin
