Meet my foster kitty

This is my foster kitty. Her owners are moving and won’t take her with them or find suitable place that accepts animals.

They have also let her have three litters of kittens by the age of two and it looks like she is having a fourth.

So she has come to live with me, the three chips children and sidecat. She’s off to the vets on Monday to confirm if she is or not. If she is she will be spayed as soon as recommended after kittens. If not she will be spayed ASAP.

After initial grumps from SideCat at the very indecency of us bringing another cat into the house, SideGirlCat has cosied up on middle chips bed and gone to sleep having been lovingly tucked in

Actually 3 kittens is ideal if you want to re-home :

Kitten pair (they should go in pairs)
Mum+ kitten (that's what they like to do in cat rescues where possible). She looks lovely and still very young

Your DH................ not sure , you could find a nice cafe to take him as a treat and leave him there ?

SideCat will relish the status quo and peace
You will have a vacancy for The Next Foster Cat Smile

Hope you managed to get some sleep!

sideorderofchips · 15/11/2019 07:49

No more kittens overnight however woke up this morning to only two kittens

She had moved one under babychips bed where it was crying. I have moved it back as it couldn't stay there and Fosterkitty bit me on the foot

She is feeding all three so we are guessing she wanted to move them to under the bed. She's still in my room in the box in the wardrobe. So no pictures this morning as I like having feet but will be keeping an eye out from a distance to make sure all are feeding and gaining okay

Yes, sounds like she wants them under the bed. Can you put a box for her under there? Definitely keep an eye on them as they need near constant food and warmth and yes they do cry if they get hungry or cold.

sideorderofchips · 15/11/2019 08:25

Not under that bed as he's four and wouldn't leave them alone

I've checked from a distance and all three kittens are in the box and she's eating herself.

All loving and friendly as long as you don't go too close. Which is fine by me as they seem to be alright for now.

I've been told this is the hormones kicking in again!

Meanwhile sidecat isn't interested at all and is currently in a box washing himself

I watched a TV programme years ago (might have been one of the Lennard brothers )

Mum cat was a tortoiseshell in a lovely open top catbox in a bedroom so she had loads of space .
Vet lifted one of the tiny closed eyed kittens , Mumcat came over and lifted it out of his hands ,glared and took it back to the catbed

Few weeks later , the cat leapt out of catbox and prowled round the room. , ignoring her mewing kittens .
Very much "For the love of Jeff , give me 5 minutes peace , you won't starve look the Vet is here , be nice"
Grin

It sounds like she was in the middle of moving her babies and got interrupted (hence the bitten foot)

ReallyLoveChickens · 15/11/2019 15:17

Lovely. Congratulations!

sideorderofchips · 15/11/2019 15:56

@70isaLimitNotaTarget yes I agree that is what she was doing. She's desperate to move them and doesn't like being in the bedroom. But there isn't a lot I can do as I don't have anywhere else!

She bit you because you interfered! Grin

sideorderofchips · 15/11/2019 16:36

She did and I rightly deserved it! However under the four year old bed is not the best place!.

The girls are clearing their room to make space to move them in there hopefully

flouncy you have one of the Lennards (which one?)

IIRC there were four brothers and their Dad all vets .
I felt a pang of envy for the Mum but then I thought she must get landed with a load of manky overalls to wash Grin

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 15/11/2019 19:22

The Leonard brothers are local to me....they have a vets practice here....

Oop spelled the name wrong Blush

It seems so long since Vets In Practice was on TV , certainly before my DC , I used to watch it when I got back from horse riding .

sideorderofchips · 15/11/2019 19:40

WaningGibbous · 15/11/2019 21:08

Well done, you must be so proud Grin

We had a cat with 4 kittens eons ago, she spent days taking one off somewhere and making it a lovely nest and peacefully feeding it - while the other 3 were screaming for her in another room. Originally we thought she'd just paused in moving them all so would give her the other 3 but as soon as she could she'd find somewhere else and take her favourite kitten off again.
