Meet my foster kitty

This is my foster kitty. Her owners are moving and won’t take her with them or find suitable place that accepts animals.

They have also let her have three litters of kittens by the age of two and it looks like she is having a fourth.

So she has come to live with me, the three chips children and sidecat. She’s off to the vets on Monday to confirm if she is or not. If she is she will be spayed as soon as recommended after kittens. If not she will be spayed ASAP.

After initial grumps from SideCat at the very indecency of us bringing another cat into the house, SideGirlCat has cosied up on middle chips bed and gone to sleep having been lovingly tucked in

Oh @sideorderofchips I’m so sorry. You must be devestated.
Love and thoughtsFlowers

I am. We were driving to the vets and I had her tucked in my top for warmth but she went a few minutes down the road.

At least she was loved and died being cuddled

so sorry sometimes this is the big downside of fostering it hurts like hell when you lose a baby though her life was short it was filled with a warm home and lots of love just think what her life would have been without you taking her mom in

Utterly heartbroken but the others are stronger. Feeding them two hourly and mum is doing the toileting. My head is pounding through lack of sleep but at least we can start weaning this weekend which means I ca. Cut down on the milk feeds

Very sorry to hear that. SadThanksThanks

sideorderofchips · 14/12/2019 10:28

Hoping and praying for the third one. She's been mums favourite all along and is a feisy little think

Both babies have been wrapped up together in a blanket and are being buried at the family yard together. Chips the eldest and middle chips are devastated. They loved them so much. But at least they were cuddled till the end

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 14/12/2019 22:24

Oh Lord no. Not another one. I’m so heartily sorry. Praying that little Freya is okay.
How is mummy cat.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 15/12/2019 00:31

Oh Sad Poor kittens and Mum (and all the chips having the worry and grief)

She sounds like a brilliant MumCat but maybe her poor body wasn't able to sustain the kittens she sounds like she's been through a lot of kitten birthing and rearing in her short life .

Agree whole heartedly that these kittens though they had a short life were loved , respected and cared for . They won't have known any worry or suffering .

What sad updates, I’m so sorry.

sideorderofchips · 16/12/2019 20:49

Sadly tonight I had to have the last kitten Freya put to sleep

She was severely anaemic and going backwards so I made the choice to stop her suffering

Rest in peace my beautiful feisty baby

Aw Sad .

FosterKitty will be confused and bereft .
Are you keeping her or will she be homed once she's neutered ?
It makes you spit though , she should've been neutered months ago .

Are FosterKitty and SideCat still maintaining distance or might there be a thaw ?

Ellmau · 16/12/2019 21:13

How very sad;( Her awful ex-owners.

SantaBeckett · 16/12/2019 21:25

Aww I have only just caught up with this thread , such sad news Sad.
As PP have said their short lives are filled with love warmth and cuddles.
I hope mum cat is doing well , it must of been such a strain on her poor young body.

Thisisanillegalbingogame · 16/12/2019 21:53

I’m so sorry to hear about the loss of the kittens. I looked forward to all your updates and my daughters loved seeing the photos. Take comfort in knowing that their short lives were filled with love, warmth and peace. I hope FosterKitty continues to thrive with a loving family. Thanks for taking the time to update us Flowers

isseywith4vampirecats · 16/12/2019 22:16

sadly this is something that happens with moms who have had several litters when very young as they haven't the resources to keep producing top notch kittens, at our rescue we see this a lot the kittens look fine but have hidden problems, and sometimes it is the mom who dosent make it her body is worn out, so sorry that you have lost all of the kittens you must be heartbroken, it really is a hard part of fostering and makes you want to shake the person who let this poor girl down by not neutering her before she had any kittens as she wouldn't have missed not being a mommy

sideorderofchips · 16/12/2019 23:00

U fortunately it seems all three kittens had feline parvo so I was left with no choice

At the moment Foster kitty is going to the vets tomorrow to be blood tested for parvo and fiv at the reccomendation of the vets

If it is fiv then I will have to rehome her
