Cat ate a mouse whole, seems to be feeling rough!

DD saw our cat swallow a mouse whole this morning 🤢. He was seemingly fine all day and ate his dinner but now appears very uncomfortable - hissed at me, cries if I try to pick him up, seems to have tummy ache and is wobbly on his legs. I think it must be due to the mouse as he’s not injured. His breathing is fine. Kids worrying he won’t last the night but I think they are being dramatic. Thoughts? Apart from thoughts about him being a bad mouse-murderer which we have already had!

He’s doped to the eyeballs.

When my cat same home after surgery I made a little nest for her. Wasn’t interested.

She spent two hours staring at her water fountain. Then started slowing moving her paw in and out of the water.

High as a kite.

I had a very sick cat last year. They will sleep when they are ready. Look after yourself lovely xx

So good to see him back at home.
I bet he is watching dust motes and seeing pink elephants .
He will probably be stiff in the morning a d grouchy as he comes down of his high but I bet he is as right as rain soon.

Well this is a sad thread turned hilarious. Cats Domino made me weep with laughter, and now I've got images of all these stoned cats behaving weirdly...it's all a bit Red Dwarf. Grin

I hope he had a comfortable night. We just left our boy to it and he hid under beds for a few days before slowly coming back to normal. He freaked out when he first came home and his wee was a bit red from the bruising and he was quiet for a few weeks but I can see him trying to stalk a squirrel in the garden, albeit badly. It makes them more precious!

Resting behind the sofa in the kids’ old ikea tunnel! He’s not had his metacam painkiller 😬 - he ate his dry food and left the wet. I need a new tactic I think. He’s limping rather but much more settled. Onward and upward I think.

@tunnocks just found and read your thread. Poor puss, poor you, what a lot you've had to deal with. Our poor puss was also hit by a car and somehow managed to scale a wall to get herself home. That was a few years ago and she's currently purring at my feet.

I think he has done you a huge favour, although a painful one, he's brought up and brought out a lot of emotion and pain you were holding in. Hopefully once his pain has subsided you will feel a bit more peace.

Note how his tail is quite like a red panda’s tail, which is another reason why I love him.
