Cat ate a mouse whole, seems to be feeling rough!

DD saw our cat swallow a mouse whole this morning 🤢. He was seemingly fine all day and ate his dinner but now appears very uncomfortable - hissed at me, cries if I try to pick him up, seems to have tummy ache and is wobbly on his legs. I think it must be due to the mouse as he’s not injured. His breathing is fine. Kids worrying he won’t last the night but I think they are being dramatic. Thoughts? Apart from thoughts about him being a bad mouse-murderer which we have already had!

But orange smarties are the best ones! Everyone knows that.

DCat has vet appointment tomorrow eve. Will see what they think. His back left leg seems to be very sore still. But he’s eating well and purring well 😻

It’s just for a check up to see how he’s getting on since being in with them.

Lick-E-Lix are excellent for hiding Metacam in.

That is indeed a beautiful red panda tail.

Note how his tail is quite like a red panda’s tail, which is another reason why I love him.

He is a handsome boy!! Do you really like the orange smarties? My friend got some and thinks they are not as good as they used to be.

He looks soooo like my old ginger boy cat used to! Absolute spitting image of him, so you took me back in time there. I loved that cat.

Poor old puss is struggling a lot with his back left leg 😿 - he’s got better painkillers now. Feel guilty leaving him to go on holiday for a few days tomorrow but the friend who is looking after him used to be a zookeeper so he is in good hands!

Don't feel guilty @tunnocks - you need the holiday. And if a zookeeper can't keep him happy, no-one else will!

You all being away might not be as bad for him as you think. He may be inclined to just snooze/rest more and your friend will keep a good eye on him.

My mum managed to run over the cat I had growing up when he was quite young. (Apparently, he made a late decision to be on the other side of the driveway). Anyway, he had a trip to the vets and recovered really well. He lived until he was 22 and was a real bruiser. He was much more careful around cars though .

Your beanbag picture reminded me of him. Thomas was the cat that mum "didn't want" and he was always going to stay downstairs in the kitchen, sleep in the shed and never sit on the beds or the beanbag. After his little car mishap, he totally had his paws under the table. He got on my beanbag, and when I complained, my mum insisted that he should be allowed on there.

Well we’re away now and I’m feeling worried. Lovely cat has eaten very little in the last 24 hours. I’m worried he’s going to get dehydrated. Friend is happy to call vet tomorrow if he’s still not eating, and he’s got an appointment for a check up on Monday morning. Otherwise he seems a bit better in himself so it’s weird.

We’re in a premier inn family room tonight. Gosh I love them! So much luxury for £39! I’m not even joking. We had pasta mugshots and a banana for dinner so splashed out on the £5 premium WiFi. Angry Birds movie it is 🤣

Hope your lovely cat is a bit better tomorrow, at least your friend will be keeping a keen eye on him.

He’s nearly better!!

We’ve been away, back tomorrow. Lovely Premier Inn breakfast to enjoy first 😋 but I had regular updates from the friend who is looking after him. He kindly took him to vet check up today and vet was v pleased with progress. Says he can go outside at the weekend but tbh I might wait until all the Halloween/bonfire/firework nonsense is over even though in theory he’s not allowed out at night.

Must get nice friend a present on way home tomorrow!
