Actually, the labour/birth announcement thins was so very weird that I do wonder whether it was a cock up of some sort. Why would you lie in a way that you were bound to be found out in a matter of hours? Particularly if you were an arch manipulator.......

That’s not what I’m saying. It is imperative that HRM is utterly truthful to the public. It is part of their oath. Whether that is actually what happens is open to speculation. But they are expected not to lie to their subjects.

Harry and Meghan deliberately and blatantly misleading and out and out lying is not a good look.

There was confusion over the in labour/birth announcement. It was very odd and doesn’t seem to have benefitted them in any way. The obvious answer is cock up- but conspiracy is obviously more fun.....

There is also the issue of Meghan claim that she paid her own way through college which her father strongly disputes and is prepared to show documentation refuting this.

Again, this may be a fudge which a grain of truth - ie she may have worked and contributed a token amount - but the way she presented it was that she had no other financial support which understandably upset her father. That said, he doesn’t come across well either. Who sells out their own daughter to the media? Dreadful behaviour.

I am wondering if perhaps the oath being referred to is one taken in Court vs the Coronation Oath? The CO refers to the Monarch preserving the laws of God, which I suppose could stretch bearing false witness to lying? No expert here either. It I reckon the birth thing was a cock up, resulting from a firm desire to ensure privacy around the birth unlike the approach required of the Cambridge’s. I’m also not convinced who of the Markle crew,Thomas, Samantha et al I’d believe given their penchant for selling out to the highest bidder.

I haven’t read the entire thread but; the apparently suffering from MH issues caused by bad press Duchess looks pretty confident , nay happy, going to an event by herself today . She has even braved cameras and all that painful stuff. It must be a consequence of all the acclaim from modernising the British monarchy virtually single handedly.
