“No one has asked if I was ok” (alight msiqiote but typing on phone)

What are people’s thoughts? Good on her i think but equally she can leave public eye

OP posts:
Candle1000 · 22/10/2019 20:08

I wonder why her friends haven’t asked if she is ok ? Surely someone must have asked her ?

BubblesBuddy · 22/10/2019 20:10

No! They just wanted to out game the press. Diana played games with the press for years and gave them tip offs about when and where. Harry is sadly focussing too much on his mother. He’s treading in her footsteps. He’s photographed doing it. He’s angry about her death. Her driver was drunk. It wasn’t purely the fault of the press and not the uk press anyway. I think he should focus on his own interests and if he doesn’t like the press, don’t expect them to fly half way around the world to cover his charity “work”. It would help save the planet they allegedly care about!

They obviously cannot be just a normal family. I don’t really understand why they read all this tosh either. I don’t read it. They should just keep their heads down, do their appearances and keep quiet. Keep a low profile. I think they are taking a 2-3 month sabbatical soon aren’t they? A chance to calm down and plan for the future.

BubblesBuddy · 22/10/2019 20:11

Of course her friends have asked her! She means William and Kate and Charles and Camilla!

How on earth can anyone presume to know what a stranger to them means

DreamOnReggie · 22/10/2019 20:18

I'm sure Camilla would have done - I mean, she's been slagged off left, right and centre - perhaps the difference is the times: Camilla and Charles got married in 2005, which was before Twitter etc, so not so many opportunities for people to spout their nasty views, nastily, and not the opportunity so much for Camilla to sit in bed on her phone looking at all their nasty online comments.

Similar sentiments, different times. But people can see that Camilla is good for Charles and that's pretty much all that's needed.

WineOrGinOrBoth · 22/10/2019 20:30

I don’t think my BIL or SIL Or in laws asked me how I was after my births or after my miscarriages either. Luckily I don’t hold grudges!

Cockervin · 22/10/2019 21:05

Shirley Phallus;
You are awfully invested, dear. I think I made the point about mental health - you know ‘ Mental Health ‘ - being conflated with sadness , etc etc. Someone ‘ feeling shit inside ‘ can either feel totally unable to function. Or attend a glamorous event, looking confident and happy. A key difference of course is whether someone ‘ feeling shit inside ‘ feels capable of or needs to attend. I suggest someone allegedly ( on MN at least ) of being on the brink , and cushioned by privilege, doesn’t need to do anything of which they feel incapable.
By the way, I expect nothing of Meghan Markle. She entertains in being incapable of avoiding attention, but is otherwise unremarkable.

Takemyhand · 22/10/2019 21:14

I don’t like the Meghan is being blamed for everything when Harry’s been behaving like a hypocrite but its always the woman who gets blamed

ChicCroissant · 22/10/2019 21:31

I don't think Meghan is getting all the blame (well, certainly not from me anyway!). Harry sees himself as a victim at the moment and he presumably sees Meghan in the same way.

It's certainly unusual for a member of the Royal Family to go on an overseas tour yet claim they have it worse - if that's modernisation I don't think it's going to be deployed very often!

Harry had an enormous amount of goodwill from the public. For someone who finds dealing with the press stressful, they leak to the press like a sieve! If he thinks he can control it that way he is very wrong.

It will be interesting to see if their latest batch of PR supremos hang around much longer. Either they are being completely ignored or are giving the couple incredibly shit advice. I think it's the former.

Cockervin · 22/10/2019 21:32

Takemyhand

Utter rubbish.

diddl · 22/10/2019 21:37

I love the idea that these two have modernised the monarchy!

How?

What's changed since they've been married?

Cockervin · 22/10/2019 21:46

Well what do you think has changed? A lot has; all of it documented in the ( Clearly biased and very dreadful ) press and here. Many staff changes; changes in royal households ; privacy concerns eg over the birth of Archie ,not going to Balmoral ( Archie too young to travel ) yet flying beforehand to stay with Elton John in France.. legal action against the press . in short, much has changed in that this couple has shown a bewildering variety of attitudes to media and public, and I haven’t covered all of it here.
And it all appears to have been damaging, both to The Firm and to themselves. Wallis Simpson really did not do damage like Meghan Markle .

Justneedaflippingtemporaryname · 22/10/2019 22:07

🙄

colouringinpro · 22/10/2019 22:11

Well I watched it and felt for both of them. They're still human and both clearly struggling They've made some daft decisions re messaging and media but MM certainly does not deserve the vile and racist abuse esp on social media. I hope they can take a good chunk of time away from the spotlight.

JacquesHammer · 22/10/2019 22:12

Um. Have you read anything about the history of the British monarchy?

Cockervin · 22/10/2019 22:18

Oh. It’s you - Just etc. What a surprise! Instead of the lazy face pull how about an intelligent answer?
It’s clear - on this site and elsewhere - that since the marriage of Harry and Meghan many have expressed dismay , disappointment and and increased desire for republicanism. It would seem that their behaviour is behind this. Harry was popular prior to his marriage. So do explain your quizzical non verbal response to my post.

Justneedaflippingtemporaryname · 22/10/2019 22:18

@Cockervin you need to get a life, love. There's enough space in the world for everyone. Why do people like you want to make a big deal out of nothing and use your negativity to bully others

Cockervin · 22/10/2019 22:20

Jaques : yes love.
Just ; I think you are the bully dear

TSSDNCOP · 22/10/2019 22:20

You’re quite right Coq, Wallis decimated the monarchy to the point and beyond of an actual abdication and consequent early demise of George IV. In her wildest Masterplan Meghan can’t top that.

Justneedaflippingtemporaryname · 22/10/2019 22:21

LOL

LilyMumsnet · 22/10/2019 22:24

can we have a bit of peace and love, please?

TSSDNCOP · 22/10/2019 22:25

Also o do think that after the roaring success of the last people’s vote, it’ll be a long wait for another on the monarchy. Particularly as we are still cleaning up the mess from the last roaring success.

Justneedaflippingtemporaryname · 22/10/2019 22:27

Grin
Cockervin · 22/10/2019 22:30

TSss whatever... a bit of an exaggeration methinks regarding Wallis. I’m not attributing MM with the powers to actually kill a king, simply describing her unpopularity.
And why bring the EU referendum into it?
