What do you do with skid marks that are below the water line? 🤔

OP posts:
ALongHardWinter · 30/09/2019 18:44

I use a scrubber. Grin A scouring sponge scrubber, that is. I put rubber gloves on and use a bit of bleach/toilet cleaner on the sponge, and give it a good old scrub.

Countrylifeornot · 30/09/2019 18:44

I squirt a bit of bleach down after flushing if there are any marks, they soon dissappear. I've never owned a loo brush and I have 3 lovely gleaming toilets, so it's definitely possible.

Snowy111 · 30/09/2019 18:46

It might be possible but that bleach will end up in the seaHmm

Tilltheendoftheline · 30/09/2019 18:47

I use thick bleach like toilet duck. Squirt it under the rim. If there a skid mark. Just squirt some bleach on there and it's gone.

Just done it on one of ds'Envy (not envy)

silentpool · 30/09/2019 18:49

I use those flushable Toilet Duck pads.

Wildorchidz · 30/09/2019 18:51

I use those flushable Toilet Duck pads.

Best practice is not to flush anything except toilet paper. Wipes contribute in a big way to sewer blockages

Blobby10 · 30/09/2019 18:53

Surely if you pour bleach over the skid marks (or line scale) it just bleaches the deposit and doesn’t clean it like a brush/scourer would? 🤔🤔

Blobby10 · 30/09/2019 18:53

Lime scale!!! Bloody phone!

PrimalLass · 30/09/2019 18:53

This again?

mumwon · 30/09/2019 19:19

rubber gloves are made of plastic not your actual rubber & sponges (unless you are using real sponge or real rubber gloves - & even than there are still some non environmentally friendly issues) So, I rinse loo with a jug of really hot water to get marks off, Than I put toilet cleaner down scrub with a toilet brush - cleaning it with cleaner & rinsing it & loo after. This means that toilet brush remains as clean as possible for as long as possible & my loo is clean - live in a very hard water area)

userxx · 30/09/2019 19:33

Just a bit of bleach does the trick. Some skid marks must be powerful mofo's if they need scrubbing 😱

SherbetSaucer · 30/09/2019 19:55

My cleaner takes care of any and all chores! I don’t think I’ve cleaned the toilet in three years! 🤔

getoutofthatgarden202 · 30/09/2019 20:46

Oh ffs - don't use those flushable wipes wtf !! And also so much bleach being used - seriously 😑 no wonder the environment is in such tatters. Toilet brushes are fine - clean it once a week and it's grand !!

StoatofDisarray · 30/09/2019 21:42

I've got a Duck Fresh thing (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Duck-Fresh-brush-holder-4-refills/dp/B012ZZCS7U/ref=ascdff_B012ZZCS7U/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=214496216811&hvpos=1o13&hvnetw=g&hvrand=2725804381610517670&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=m&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045888&hvtargid=aud-545671390501:pla-421019065894&psc=1): I don't bother buying refill brushes, I just use it to grab a bit of wadded up loo roll, clean off the smear, release the trigger to drop it and then flush it away. It sits in a little holder.

longwayoff · 30/09/2019 23:22

I hate toilet brushes but I was looking at a silicon one then other day which presumably wouldn't get manky like the standard kind can. Has anyone got one? Any good?

barearsedloverofthigh · 30/09/2019 23:27

I replaced my toilet brush years ago with a couple of freshwater shrimp. I just pop them in the loo after every shit and voila! my toilet bowl is sparkling again! You should see their little faces light up when they smell dh cooking a vindaloo.

Teddybear45 · 30/09/2019 23:31

My aunt cleans her toilets with coca cola then bleach once a week and it sorts it out. Her toilets are immaculate.

Northernsoullover · 30/09/2019 23:33

Blobby sadly I have a green toilet (as in avocado not green with filth) bleach absolutely does NOT bleach skid marks. It removes them.

barearsedloverofthigh · 01/10/2019 00:12

I find a tooth brush is great for shifting skid marks from the shitter. Obvs I use dp's and not my own.

TheJellyBabyMadeMeDoIt · 01/10/2019 00:31

Wad of toilet roll and bleach.

TrixieFranklin · 01/10/2019 00:36

Bleach here too

HeartvsHead · 01/10/2019 00:43

@longwayoff I've recently got a silicon loo brush and it is sooooo much better than the rank bristley ones. It's the first time in 7 years I've not been grossed out by the idea of having one in the house. So much cleaner and doesn't hold the water so no gross puddle in the bottom of the holder.

safariboot · 01/10/2019 01:07

You won't be able to see the skid marks because the toilet's full of limescale.

(I've tried all sorts. Bleach, toilet cleaners, vinegar, cola, finding a loo brush and scrubbing. The only way that limescale is going is if we get a new loo.)

Lellochip · 01/10/2019 01:12

Cif & a cloth

HennyPennyHorror · 01/10/2019 01:12

All family members are trained to remove their own skid marks as they occur.
