What do you do with skid marks that are below the water line? 🤔

*I don't get the no toilet brush thing. It just gets cleaned regularly. In this age of pollution and climate emergency, the effects of bleach and disposable products is catastrophic, but people still use them daily. It's things like this that will ruin us all.

Also, has anyone thought about guests? My mother in law doesn't have a toilet brush and when any of us leave skids we don't have access to all these products and end up in a panic in the toilet. It's something we dread*

The question is, how are you cleaning your toilet brush? 🤔. Obviously not with bleach. So are you putting it in the dishwasher? 🤭

I sometimes just rinse it with a few cups of hot water from the tap and then flush again

userxx · 01/10/2019 07:59

@redchocolatebutton Eh? So those of us who bleach will have a toilet full of white skid marks!

Jesse70 · 01/10/2019 08:02

Toilet cleaner and rubber gloves the a little bit zoflora when finished

BetterEatCheese · 01/10/2019 08:03

@sheshootssheimplores with lots of hot water and eco cleaning products - I love ecover. I also use lemon and vinegar and bicarb to clean with. It's not that tricky, better for the environment and cheaper

BetterEatCheese · 01/10/2019 08:03

@sheshootssheimplores and I don't have a dishwasher

user1493494961 · 01/10/2019 08:15

Also use toilet paper and It doesn't disintegrate. I give my hands a good scrub afterwards. I would also do this if staying in someone's house, I would never leave a toilet dirty.

BustedDreams · 01/10/2019 08:20

@SherbetSaucer wow 😮 do you really leave skid marks for your cleaner to clean? I know people have cleaners to make their life easier and stay on top of stuff but if I was so lucky to have a cleaner I wouldn’t leave her skids marks out of respect. So if there was a skidder and the cleaner wasn’t due for another week it would just stay there festering collecting more debris until it became a pooberg? I’m pleased I’m not your cleaner Grin

OooErMissus · 01/10/2019 08:28

Leaving skidders for the cleaner is beyond feral.

I know this place is anonymous, but I find the things that people happily admit to, mind boggling.

Justkeeprollingalong · 01/10/2019 08:32

I agree with @BustedDreams - you are grim @SherbetSaucer 🤢

I use the cheap toilet brushes from Wilko - 60p. Change them regularly.

PrimalLass · 01/10/2019 08:35

Great. So lots of cheap plastic toilet brushes in landfill. FFS.

Tensixtysix · 01/10/2019 08:41

I'm a cleaner and the worst job I ever had was someone who didn't have a single toilet brush in the house, but had 4 toilets and I was only asked to come in every 2 weeks.
They saved up every single skid mark for me....
Stuck at it for a year and then gave notice, because they had a septic tank, so couldn't use those toilet duck things and it frankly made me feel sick!
I know some don't like brushes, but they could have had one at least and kept it in the garden?

OooErMissus · 01/10/2019 08:45

Shoving your hand down below the water rim with a wodge of toilet paper is preferable to a loo brush?? 🤢

Fuck's sake....

KUGA · 01/10/2019 08:53

Whoever left it should do it straight away.
That way you won`t need to use anything other than a brush.

SpinneyHill · 01/10/2019 08:55

I use the same thing I use to wipe it off my arse. Toilet paper.

OooErMissus · 01/10/2019 09:12

So you put your hand under the water line?

You expect guests to your house to do that, too?

yummychoccy · 01/10/2019 09:18

Yeah I get using toilet roll for marks above the water line, but it's the ones below the line that confuse me!

We actually have a silicone toilet brush now and it is quite good and doesn't get manky.

My NDN has an outside privy. If I need a two bob bit I climb over the fence and use their toilet and paper. No need for brushes in my house. In fact I use my toilet as a plant pot and grow tomatoes in it.

OkPedro · 01/10/2019 09:38

Nerrsnerr
I use anti bac because I like to eat my dinner out of the toilet bowl as a treat on a Friday

HennyPennyHorror · 01/10/2019 09:46

Ooer we never have guests...but now you mention it, that wouldn't be very nice for them! If I DO have guests then I will buy a bloody bog brush and throw it away when they've left.

HairyDogsOfThigh · 01/10/2019 11:14

I line my toilet with a bag and then take my doings outside to fertilise my neighbours roses. No skids here and i get to enjoy her lovely blooms!

Lexplorer · 01/10/2019 11:14

Lol at shock horror of putting your hand under the water line. It's water not hydrochloric acid peeps, live a little.

sheshootssheimplores · 01/10/2019 11:24

The kids water pistols are a useful way to clear shit from the pan. Plus it can turn into a fun family activity.

LadyCarolinePooterVonThigh · 01/10/2019 11:43

You are a great mum, sheshoots!
