2 minutes max if just washing my body, about 10 if washing hair and shaving legs.

I think you have to seethe inwardly and get a new lodger when this one goes. I'd be irritated too, it's so wasteful, but you can't impose rules on other adults. It would have to be discussed and agreed before the next lodger moved in.

DP spends too long, and I spend just the right time!

Mumsnet has been an amazing support to me over the last few years, I have honestly considered it a lifeline at certain, challenging parts of my life.

However, I do find some posters reactions sometimes to be extremely aggressive. Yes, I asked for views which I'm really glad to read, because it's made me realise that 20 minute showers (which it ended up being) aren't unusual. Great - now I know that, I'm not going to make a fuss. But coming back to replies such as " your shouldn't be a landlady"; "you sound like a nightmare" etc is just not necessary. It was a question - nothing more, and I won't be saying anything now I know. She's a lovely girl, and we get on really well. And I wasn't actively "timing" the shower but it's a power shower and bloomin noisy - it was 10pm so it just rang a little warning bell. But we all live and learn. It's fine.

Thanks for all the polite comments whether agreeing with me or not - I wish people would understand that negativity, trying to belittle others and cutting comments is quite a low approach... Mumsnet never used to be like this... Sad

No need to take everything so personally OP.

Dollygirl2008 · 26/09/2019 13:43

I know, you're absolutely right - a bad habit of mine!

Honestly, don't worry about it. You've got what you needed from the thread so just discard what isn't useful.

Good luck with your new lodger.

Normally only 5 minutes ( but maybe 10 if I am shaving my legs or washing hair) but I am planning on buying some lovely lush products soon so I think my time in the shower might be about to increase Grin

pusspuss9 · 26/09/2019 15:25

you're absolutely right dollygirl. Some of the replies on here are rude and aggressive. Some of the posters are obviously trained psychologists. Without knowing somebody, or ever having met them, they announce with conviction, that somebody is planning this, planning that, has got this or that personality and because they've so cleverly analysed somebody they then advise LTB.

And this is why lodging is the fucking worst!

TreacherousPissFlap · 26/09/2019 22:07

Used to be ages, teen DS could be in there for up to 20 minutes Hmm We had a crappy little electric shower that trickled pathetically.

We've recently got a new shower with a pump. You need to work hard to stay upright so you don't get plastered to the wall, and it's so effective even DS is out in "the length of one song" Grin
