Shiny new thread, continuing from here

@lastqueenofscotland I haven’t found any plantains yet but there’s a shop in town that might sell them, and I’m planning to have a look at the weekend. Are they seasonal?

Yum, yet more lovely ideas here

Yesterday:
B - toasted oven-bottom muffin with lemon curd, apple, some random pistachios
L - salmon with giant cous cous and lentils, some salad leaves, a pear
D - spicy root veg casserole, naan bread, yogurt
S - "extra chocolatey" biscuit

Phycadelicsilhouette · 08/11/2019 18:05

@AwkwardSquad you should be able to get plantains in any international food store (dreaming of plantain now!) my favourite is fried and salted!

Today I have eaten...

Breakfast - a slice of warburtons malted loaf toasted with butter and marmite and coffee.

Lunch - a leftover portion of cottage pie from last night with extra peas on the side.

Dinner - chilli with a little dark chocolate in the recipe with plain white boiled rice and some salted crispy things made with the potato skins from the mash of last nights cottage pie.

I need to add more fruit and veg to my diet!

Frith2013 · 08/11/2019 18:18

Homemade plum jam on toast

Ciabatta with tuna, avocado and tomatoes

Veg chilli from the freezer with a few chips

Mince pie!

Phycadelicsilhouette · 08/11/2019 18:39

A mince pie already @Frith2013.... yum!

I absolutely love Christmas and am very excited for this one but I’m trying to hold off on all things Christmas until December 1st. I have to admit that I have made and listened to a Christmas song playlist already though Blush and watched a Christmas film —or two or three—

Phycadelicsilhouette · 08/11/2019 18:39

Failed attempt at my first ever strike through there Blush😂

Nuttyaboutnutella · 08/11/2019 18:58

B: originally made porridge with blackberries and almonds but only ate half as I suddenly couldn't stomach any more (normally love porridge) so made a slice of toast with marmalade instead.
L: poached egg on toast, banana, an orange, mandarin yoghurt, chocolate biscuit
Picked at some cheese and bread (it was still fresh and warm from the bread maker!)
D: basa fillet with sweet chilli sauce, rice and green beans

Will have some cheese and biscuits later on. Reaaaaaally fancy a glass of red wine but can't because of the antibiotics :(

AwkwardSquad · 08/11/2019 19:11

B - muesli etc
L - carrot and lentil soup, a bag of Emily’s sugar snap pea and green bean veg crisps, quite a lot of grapes
D - smoked haddock and leek soup with shredded winter greens, the last slice of apple cake with a few walnuts and dried baby figs, three little ginger biscuits

Your soup sounds lovely Awks

Phycadelicsilhouette I hear you on the Christmas thing! I'm still trying not to think about it too much but I know soon I'll give in! No mince pies yet though (although now I really feel like one!).

AwkwardSquad · 09/11/2019 08:56

I love mince pies. The nicest ones around here are from Thomas the Bakers. Even nicer with a bit of Wensleydale.

And I love lebkuchen too.

So much temptation!

AwkwardSquad I love the idea of a homeopathic sized piece of cake! Was it at a catered meeting?
Yesterday I had:
B: granola with prunes, banana and yoghurt, toast and marmite, black coffee.
Mid-morning: cappuccino, a bit of flapjack.
L: leftover slow roast lamb ( which I had managed to cook perfectly the night before, it was delicious), jacket potato, mushrooms, tomato. Plum crumble and cream.
Supper: half a spicy pepperoni pizza. Tea.
Much later: tea and two chocolate biscuits.

Bloodybridget · 09/11/2019 10:06

Oh and I can't wait for the mince pie season to start! Have Trex and a large jar of mincemeat ready to start making them. Although I feel I shouldn't eat any before December, we're going to a Christmas craft fair this afternoon and if there are any on offer I will probably indulge.

afternoonspray · 09/11/2019 14:18

spiced berries for breakfast

carrot and lentil soup with wholemeal toast for lunch

BloodyBridget it was indeed a catered work event, how did you guess Grin

Didn’t get any plantains but did get a couple of bags of plantain crisps - sweet plantain, and salted green plantain. Not tried them yet but I’ll report back.

B - muesli, kiwi, etc
L - smashed avocado on sourdough toast with a poached egg, basil oil, sprinkle of feta and cherry tomatoes. It was lovely.
D - veggie chilli with brown rice and grated cheese
Snacks/pudding - some Eaten Path veg crisps and half a packet of Polish marzipan and chocolate sweets (bit greedy but they were very moreish)

OP posts:

Wraps with chicken tikka, cous cous and roasted peppers.

Have just made a sponge cake for children to eat during the YouTubers fights later (don’t ask, it’s v dull)

clippityclop · 09/11/2019 20:03

B: porridge with blackcurrant jam, toast with Gu chocolate spread
L: Jacket potato with cheese and beans, salad
Piece of lemon cake from MIL
A hot chocolate from Costa (had an hour free from kids and had a rare treat of hot chocolate out, didn't even enjoy it as it was just brown water, not a lovely rice, decedent hot chocolate I wanted :( )
D: homemade pizza with olives, sun dried tomatoes, jalapeno and buffalo mozzarella
Shared a sticky toffee pudding thing with DP

Nuttyaboutnutella · 10/11/2019 09:21

PrivateSpidey · 10/11/2019 10:06

Argh, yesterday was not very nutritious for me either!

B - French toast with fruit salad
L - 2 cocktail sausage rolls, hummus, pitta bread, peppers
D - half a Domino's pepperoni pizza, some potato wedges. Sloe gin and bitter lemon.

Nuttyaboutnutella · 10/11/2019 12:44

privatespidey it's good for the soul sometimes. Yours actually doesn't sound too bad Smile

So far today, I've had/will have:

B: Weetabix with raspberries
L: poached egg on toast, half an orange, an apple and some banana. Small bowl of yogurt.
Dinner will be slow cooked beef brisket, carrots, peas, broccoli and cauliflower cheese, honey roasted parsnips, roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy. Sooooo looking forward to this!

At least I've got some fruit and veg in me today!

Phycadelicsilhouette · 10/11/2019 18:07

Yesterday sounds delicious!

My food diary today has been...

Breakfast - 2 x scrambled eggs on 2 x buttered toast and coffee.

Lunch - cheese on toasted date and walnut bread with a sliced pear.

Dinner - Roast chicken, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese, carrots, peas, cabbage, swede and gravy followed by a slice of birthday cake with coffee... it’s nobodies birthday, I just bought a birthday cake in the yellow sticker section because it was only a couple of pounds GrinBlush
